What makes a league important and what makes the members coveted is simply whether or not they win. If say the big 12 were to win the next 5 football national championships there would be no question of whether or not they were on par with the big 10 and the SEC. Simply adding currently good members is only going to take the big 12 so far for so long. It's all about national titles. Especially in football. Get them and you matter. Don't and you don't.
Their just kids. And had there not been the disintegration of the Pac -12. Who knows how high that group of kids would have gone. After all they statistically spanked the no.4 team in the country for much of that game!
@@waynecarpenter9202 Thats fine. But ESPN and the networks arent just going to give tens of millions of $ to the Big 12 to add W/OSU based simply on the fact that these schools may have the potential to go high.
Honestly, there’s very little chance of the ACC imploding completely. While 3-5 teams have a good chance of joining the SEC or Big Ten, that still leaves well over half of the league intact. And the media deal for the ACC pays each school $5 million per year than they would make in the Big 12.
@@54raynor a contract is written with specifics…. You can just swap Miami (FL) with Miami (OH) and expect the person you made a contract with to pay the same.. at that point you’ve changed terms of the contract..
Washington State, Oregon State can create a new P conference by adding Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State, UNLV, Air Force, Utah State, Wyoming, SMU, UTSA, Tulane, Memphis, UAB, USF, JMU, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and App State. Boise State against UCLA got over 2 million as well. People still wants to watch Boise State. Some of the top G5 schools still get the viewership. Boise State vs top schools in the P5 and top of MWC gets the ratings as well. Same with Fresno State. Removed the ratings from the bottom of the MWC, and Boise State gets close to 2 million which is more than some schools in the Big 12, SEC and ACC. ESPN would love to get Boise State back into their fold, and they really wanted Houston to stay in the AAC, and Boise State as number 4.
@@dacokc I agree that the ratings were exceptional for this year. But I was pointing out that this isn’t the first time the game has done good ratings, as the Apple Cup is annually one of the top-rated games of rivalry week.
I said it once, osu and wsu are not going to the big 12. Florida state is going to try like hell to leave the acc. The acc is done there will only be 3 power conferences left. Big 10, big 12 and sec will pick the carcas of the acc lol
It took me a second to realize all this guy talks about is the Big12. First and foremost, Oregon St and Wash St aren’t EVER going to the big12. The other members aren’t going to be willing to split their tv revenue for football, and those two don’t have the endowments that Stanford and Cal have. That’s how they can afford to play for free in the ACC the next ten years. Both schools made it very clear they intend to rebuild the PAC, and the Mountain West is on board. Sure it does nothing for football, but it puts their basketball and baseball programs immediately into money and ranked competition. Really, football is the outlier that will decide how everything falls. This whole scheme also requires Fl St to play for free until the media rights deal expires wherever they move, and I don’t see that happening.
This guy knows nothing. Wazzu & Wash was watched in Washington because the Apple Cup is the biggest football game there. Wazzu vs Stanford would get beat by a pop Warner game on TV. Oregon has 3 million less residents and almost beat out the Washington schools. This guy needs to get his background information straight. Oregon State has the 5th highest TV ratings of ALL western BCS teams. Duh. WAZZU & OSU will survive. They’ll probably be in the mix of the conference breakups that are inevitable. Guys like this only spread misinformation. It’s too bad.
The Big12 would take their 16 schools and join the depleted ATLANTIC Coast Conference? I don't think so... at that poing the Big12 takes the next 4-6 best ACC schools... adds another 2 and goes to 24 programs..
@@54raynor my only point is the best West Coast teams have found homes. That said the Big12 does have Western teams.. Right now what it needs is more eastern teams/expansion..
OSU and WSU make little sense for the Big XII. Why? A number of reasons but top of the list is they need to see who ( if anyone) from the ACC becomes available. We can all agree Clemson, FSU, UNC, and probably Miami and UVA will not be available. But what about NC State, Louisville, Pitt, VT and even Duke? All of those schools are better adds then OSU and WSU.
I don’t disagree with first waiting to see what happens with the ACC before making any new additions. If, as you say, 4 schools instead of 5 are left after the Big10 and SEC take their fill, that would be a good time to make the Big12 a coast to coat conference by adding 6. That would pretty well put a wrap on further expansion.
What makes the Big 12 so special though? You have no big brands and couldn't keep the 2 you had. Like it or not, the current Big 12 is at the same level as the AAC or Mountain West. You guys are a Power 5 by contract, not talent or brand. Adding WSU and OSU would add 2 solid programs with solid viewership. Not to mention money. If they win their lawsuit, they won't be desperate and the Big 12 will be begging for them.
If the Big 12 is no better than the mwc or AAC, then why do you desperately want a Big 12 invite? everyone outside Big 12 salivates over the longhorns but they have no more conference titles than Kansas State
@@Alex-pe9bd No one is desperate to join. I am sure not. If we win our lawsuit, which looks likely, then WSU and OSU can rebuild the Pac 12. Look, you are naive if you think the Big 12 isn't 1 or 2 realignments from being in the exact position the Pac 12 is. The Big 12 has no premier brands. The worst thing that could have happened was what happened to TCU last year. They were exposed for what the Big 12 is. All name and no substance. My point is, you are not doing Oregon State and WSU a favor by adding them. It is mutually beneficial and frankly WSU and OSU don't really need it and don't really want it. No one of authority has even hinted at any desire to join. This is all fan b.s. I would rather they just rebuild the Pac 12 which seems likely.
Yeah. But NOBODY from the ACC is going to be available to the Big 12. ACC is raiding the Big 12 in 5 years and taking the 6 best programs the Big 12 has. So... Big 12 needs the best replacements it can get. Not just more G5s
So many watched the Apple cup because it was touted as the last one, and everyone wanted to see UW get beat. It’s a one off. The civil war is normally just as popular, and frequently OS has dashed UO playoff hopes.
As a ACC fan, you can have FSU, whose fans are the Shooter McGavin's of the college football landscape, their fans are arrogant, and the people who run it are just as bad, they are perfect replacement for Texas, come on, take them, please take them
And this is exactly why I think that if the B1G doesn't invite FSU....and even if they do.....FSU may opt for the Big 12. The B1G and SEC are already top heavy. The competition will be brutal with 9 In-conference games....Which the SEC and ACC do NOT play!! Add in a couple more top brands and the B1G will go to 10 In-conference games or into a pod system. The SEC will continue being the pussies that they are and only play 1 or 2 tough opponents all season so they can stack the "playoff" with as many of their normally mid-tier, ESPiN selected teams. Seriously....Tennessee is ranked but Northwestern and Maryland are not?!! If you blank out the names and compare the stats of those 3, you'd be shocked to realize that TN would be the lower of the 3. THAT is the SEC/ESPiN bias. The very thing that works against FSU and OSUw and WSU and many other programs. Bottomline is what I have always said for the past 30+ years. If Notre Dame ever joins a conference for football, it will be the ACC. If the ACC implodes, I now see FSU et al joining the Big12 to get a stronger argument for SoS while not being overwhelmed to even make it into the "Playoffs". (Which might eventually force ND to the B1G or Big 12, for the exact same reasons.)
@@dacokc And USC, UO, UW have something to say about that too!! NO more ...just 8 In-conference games like the pussies in the SEC and ACC play, that ONLY have 1 or 2 tough opponents....try AT LEAST FOUR or MORE tough opponents out of the 9 or possibly 10 In-conference games if FSU and Clemson were to join. UCLA alone will play at least 6 teams next year that are pretty much guaranteed losses for them!! USC have 5 marquee matchups on their schedule. The days of undefeated B1G Conference team are going to be rare at best, if not impossible. Fox said they wanted to make The B1G like the NFL. Name the team and year of the ONLY undefeated NFL team?
FSU plays how many tough marquee matchups per year? One!?! Maybe 2?!!! Just like the SEC. FSU would have to play a MINIMUM of 4 tough marquee games EVERY year in the B1G. Like UCLA plays 6 next year and USC plays 5. Add FSU and Clemson....and FSU will play HALF their season against tough marquee opponents.....no more pussy-ball like in the Severely Educationally Challenged or the Almost Competitive Conference. Nine to 10 In-conference games.

Simply adding currently good members is only going to take the big 12 so far for so long. It's all about national titles. Especially in football. Get them and you matter. Don't and you don't.
That was a hell of an Apple cup
How did WSU do in their other games? You don’t make multi-year, multi-million $ decisions based on just 1 game.
And the media deal for the ACC pays each school $5 million per year than they would make in the Big 12.
with 3-5 of those top tier school gone.... does the media deal still pay more than the Big12.... there lies the question..
Take out the top four and the Big 12 will have much higher revenue.
Unless there is language in the ACC deal in which specific teams are required be in the conference, the deal is locked in place until 2036.
@@54raynor a contract is written with specifics…. You can just swap Miami (FL) with Miami (OH) and expect the person you made a contract with to pay the same.. at that point you’ve changed terms of the contract..
@@dacokc Except they literally already did that when they added Cal, Stanford, and SMU at the exact same payout as all of the other schools.
Go Cougs!
OSU and WSU could hold their own against a lot of the BIG-12. If they can keep their teams together and fill a few holes in the Portal.
People simply watch meaningful games.. people wanted to see if Washington would lose.
While the ratings were exceptional this year, The Apple Cup is annually one of the highest-rated games of Rivalry Week.
@@54raynor I was watching any game that had playoff implications in the last three weeks…
BINGO! This had nothing to do with WSU having exceptional value.
They need to invite Beavs
Those numbers are great...BUT Key players have just hit portal..so they are gone for next year .
If the ACC implodes, the Big 12 wants east coast teams, not more west coast teams. Their best hope is joining the ACC if the top teams leave.
The Big 12 doesn’t have any West Coast teams.
The Big12 would take their 16 schools and join the depleted ATLANTIC Coast Conference? I don't think so... at that poing the Big12 takes the next 4-6 best ACC schools... adds another 2 and goes to 24 programs..
@@54raynor *Western*
@@dacokcthere is as much of a difference between Pacific and Mountain as there is between Central and Eastern.
@@54raynor my only point is the best West Coast teams have found homes. That said the Big12 does have Western teams.. Right now what it needs is more eastern teams/expansion..
Other than making for more travel for Little 12 fans, I do not see what Washington State and Oregon State would bring to the conference.
That was a bad example but look at yearly ratings, WSU and OSU get shockingly good TV ratings for being no where near a major TV market
Just give it up. You have been trying to will this to happen yet it hasn’t and is not anytime soon.
As a ACC fan, you can have FSU, whose fans are the Shooter McGavin's of the college football landscape, their fans are arrogant, and the people who run it are just as bad, they are perfect replacement for Texas, come on, take them, please take them
Sounds like Texas! they all belong together.
I hope Florida state goes to the big 10. Instant access to the CFP all you have to do is basically BEAT michigan or oho state EASY PEASY
Don’t forget Penn State..
I need NCAA to put an end to this expansion.
Expand as much as possible while it's available
so... should the Big12 add Miami (of Ohio) and Liberty?
You should add a brain
Washington state and Oregon state are just screwed. there will be a new pac mountain conference, that may exclude some mountain west schools and include some big sky schools. maybe some wcc alliance for basketball. they have to find a new path the tv people don't care.
Good grief…..😂

A possible solution of reviving PAC from Death Nail and Allow western Colleges to continue existence for next 5-10 years. Hoping that former Members return, after learning Traveling Yearly Budget Losses due to FBS - Natty Protocols Req 12+ Team Conference + Title 9 BS might not be Best option vs FCS or Football Autonomous Subdivision for Paid Athletes wo Title 9 Implications schools having only 65 Scholarships + Transfer Portals. If MWC + Big Sky C + PAC2 merge it could draw both N / S Dakota Schools to PAC East or PAC North East. PAC-12 Members leaving occurred due to Media Rights breakdowns during Final 2 Years of Broadcasting Payments / Deal Renegotiation being Completed before 2024. Knowing in 2022 that USC / UCLA were bailing and Balling out of PAC-12 Dumb Management.
