      What do you mean...."was"......it's MSU....they'll get rid of him before that program ever turns around. The guy AFTER Smith may have a fighting chance , but even then, don't hold your breath on a Playoff berth. MSU is going to be relegated to mid-tier. Especially if the likes of FSU and Clemson go to the B1G. Way too top heavy. Which may be why FSU and Clemson go to the Big 12 or stay put just bitch'n their life away in the Almost Competitive Conference.

Looking at their schedules next year both Oregon State and Washington State will be 10-2 or 11-1, they will favored in almost all their games and one will have a shot at the expanded playoffs.

    Washington State's average TV Viewership in the past 10 Years has been very close to Washington.
    The reasons so many people watch Washington St games:
    1). Population - 8 Million People live in Washington & it's always a Too-5 State in Population growth
    2) Football is much bigger than people think it is up in The NW. People often group these teams with California & Arizona fans. They have numbers, but hardly anyone cares about Football per capita.
    3) When you move to Washington people will often ask you. UW or WSU.... Who is your team? Similar to Alabama & Auburn, just at a lesser scale.
    4) They've always had an exciting Team & high powered offense. So they tend to pick up new casual viewers often.

    Part of the reason why the Apple Cup was watched so much is because it was the last time the Apple Cup will be played in the PAC12. I would imagine that the Civil War (excuse me...the now unnamed Oregon State vs Oregon game) probably had higher ratings than normal as well.

    As crazy as it sounds, PAC could entice disgruntled schools from various conferences (Nebraska, Michigan, ACC schools for example) to join them. Networks won't be able to ignore it, and will have to offer a nice deal. Why leave the ACC for the SEC for 20-30% cut for X amount of years, when you can get 100% right away in a newly formed conference. Insane and crazy.

    It THEROY, the ACC is an ESPN property.
    ESPN could allow ACC teams to move to the SEC and/or the XII.
    If they moved to the XII then Fox would need to be willing to pay at or more than they currently do.
    SO, the SEC/XII could pick up a few schools & the schools might pay a small exit fee. Maybe?

    • @MercerKnowsBall
      @MercerKnowsBall 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In Theory. The ACC can STEAL the best Big 12 teams from FOX by putting them in the ACC and then ABANDON what is left of the Big 12 (not much) to fend for itself because FOX is tapped out and doesn't have more money to PAY anybody (couldn't afford Full Shares for Oregon and Washington).
      IN FACT. ESPN earns more money from the ACC than it earns from the SEC and is NOT going to watch its Empire Collapse over to FOX.
      IN FACT. Now that ESPN does not have to waste its time airing B1G games ESPN gets better RATINGS by showing ACC games instead.
      IN FACT. ESPN used the Big 12 to kill the PAC so ESPN didn't have to pay it anymore while it wasted the West Coast Audience and it only gave the Big 12 a 5 year TV Deal because it needs 3 or 4 years to get the ACC Money right SO that then the ACC can EAT the Top of the Big 12 and be the 3rd Conference of the Power Three.
      IN FACT. Everybody has been so caught up in the demise of the PAC the BS success of the Big 12 and the money in the B1G and SEC that they have not paid attention to anything the ACC has been doing IN PLAIN SIGHT over the past 8 years. Allowing this BS narrative that the ACC is dying to persist without any FACTS.
      So they don't know what a great position the ACC is actually in OR how good ESPN is actually doing because they are financially illiterate and do not understand how a CORPORATION WORKS. DISNEY having trouble does not mean ESPN is having trouble. Corporations do not work like that.

Washington St. other games are NOT highly watched. Wash ST vs ORE had 2.35M, mostly Ore watchers. B12 has to be careful who they accept or the $ divide will get too wide to compete with the P2.

Since 2015 Washington States average viewership per game is greater than any of the current Big 12 teams with the exception of Texas and Oklahoma, and it isn't even close once those two schools go away. Nothin' but love for my PAC2 brothren at Wazzu, but Oregon State is a great program. In the past `10 Years we've been to multiple Bowls in Football, we've LIVED in the Top 25 Power Rankings for almost two years straight without falling. We've WON a College World Series, and BOTH MENs and WOMENs Basketball Teams have appeared in the FINAL FOUR. Our Men's soccer Team is making a championship run now. I personally don't give af about anything outside of Football, but our SPORTS PROGRAM is Legit, so we're not scrubs piggy-backing on Wazzu, our program puts them to shame competitively. If say the big 12 were to win the next 5 football national championships there would be no question of whether or not they were on par with the big 10 and the SEC. Washington State, Oregon State can create a new P conference by adding Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State, UNLV, Air Force, Utah State, Wyoming, SMU, UTSA, Tulane, Memphis, UAB, USF, JMU, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and App State. Boise State against UCLA got over 2 million as well. People still wants to watch Boise State. Some of the top G5 schools still get the viewership. Boise State vs top schools in the P5 and top of MWC gets the ratings as well. Same with Fresno State. Removed the ratings from the bottom of the MWC, and Boise State gets close to 2 million which is more than some schools in the Big 12, SEC and ACC. The other members aren’t going to be willing to split their tv revenue for football, and those two don’t have the endowments that Stanford and Cal have. That’s how they can afford to play for free in the ACC the next ten years. Both schools made it very clear they intend to rebuild the PAC, and the Mountain West is on board. Sure it does nothing for football, but it puts their basketball and baseball programs immediately into money and ranked competition. Really, football is the outlier that will decide how everything falls. My point is, you are not doing Oregon State and WSU a favor by adding them. It is mutually beneficial and frankly WSU and OSU don't really need it and don't really want it. No one of authority has even hinted at any desire to join. This is all fan b.s. I would rather they just rebuild the Pac 12 which seems likely.

      Yeah. But NOBODY from the ACC is going to be available to the Big 12.
      ACC is raiding the Big 12 in 5 years and taking the 6 best programs the Big 12 has.
      So... Big 12 needs the best replacements it can get. Not just more G5s

    So many watched the Apple cup because it was touted as the last one, and everyone wanted to see UW get beat. It’s a one off.
    The civil war is normally just as popular, and frequently OS has dashed UO playoff hopes.

      That was a bad example but look at yearly ratings, WSU and OSU get shockingly good TV ratings for being no where near a major TV market

    As a ACC fan, you can have FSU, whose fans are the Shooter McGavin's of the college football landscape, their fans are arrogant, and the people who run it are just as bad, they are perfect replacement for Texas, come on, take them, please take them

      And this is exactly why I think that if the B1G doesn't invite FSU....and even if they do.....FSU may opt for the Big 12. The B1G and SEC are already top heavy. The competition will be brutal with 9 In-conference games....Which the SEC and ACC do NOT play!! Add in a couple more top brands and the B1G will go to 10 In-conference games or into a pod system. The SEC will continue being the pussies that they are and only play 1 or 2 tough opponents all season so they can stack the "playoff" with as many of their normally mid-tier, ESPiN selected teams. Seriously....Tennessee is ranked but Northwestern and Maryland are not?!! If you blank out the names and compare the stats of those 3, you'd be shocked to realize that TN would be the lower of the 3. THAT is the SEC/ESPiN bias. The very thing that works against FSU and OSUw and WSU and many other programs.
      Bottomline is what I have always said for the past 30+ years. If Notre Dame ever joins a conference for football, it will be the ACC. If the ACC implodes, I now see FSU et al joining the Big12 to get a stronger argument for SoS while not being overwhelmed to even make it into the "Playoffs". (Which might eventually force ND to the B1G or Big 12, for the exact same reasons.)

      @@dacokc And USC, UO, UW have something to say about that too!! NO more ...just 8 In-conference games like the pussies in the SEC and ACC play, that ONLY have 1 or 2 tough opponents....try AT LEAST FOUR or MORE tough opponents out of the 9 or possibly 10 In-conference games if FSU and Clemson were to join. UCLA alone will play at least 6 teams next year that are pretty much guaranteed losses for them!! USC have 5 marquee matchups on their schedule. The days of undefeated B1G Conference team are going to be rare at best, if not impossible. Fox said they wanted to make The B1G like the NFL. Name the team and year of the ONLY undefeated NFL team?

    • @josephcernansky1794
      @josephcernansky1794 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      FSU plays how many tough marquee matchups per year? One!?! Maybe 2?!!! Just like the SEC.
      FSU would have to play a MINIMUM of 4 tough marquee games EVERY year in the B1G. Like UCLA plays 6 next year and USC plays 5. Add FSU and Clemson....and FSU will play HALF their season against tough marquee opponents.....no more pussy-ball like in the Severely Educationally Challenged or the Almost Competitive Conference. Nine to 10 In-conference games.

      A possible solution of reviving PAC from Death Nail and Allow western Colleges to continue existence for next 5-10 years. Hoping that former Members return, after learning Traveling Yearly Budget Losses due to FBS - Natty Protocols Req 12+ Team Conference + Title 9 BS might not be Best option vs FCS or Football Autonomous Subdivision for Paid Athletes wo Title 9 Implications schools having only 65 Scholarships + Transfer Portals. If MWC + Big Sky C + PAC2 merge it could draw both N / S Dakota Schools to PAC East or PAC North East. PAC-12 Members leaving occurred due to Media Rights breakdowns during Final 2 Years of Broadcasting Payments / Deal Renegotiation being Completed before 2024. Knowing in 2022 that USC / UCLA were bailing and Balling out of PAC-12 Dumb Management.
