The mountain west conference is a good conference. They are not power 5, but it's still a good conference. OSU and WSU can't ask for much more. I know it sucks. But the pac is dead. You have to move forward.
This is great for the Mountain West teams. They add a power 5 team to the schedule, making most of them play 3 power 5 schools. UNLV, Fresno State, San Diego State, Boise State, and Wyoming can prove that the Mountain West Conference is the next Power 5 conference.
As a Fresno State fan, I would love to see them be able to play OSU and WSU every year. Fresno State fans also travel pretty damn well to west coast games and I would love to go watch them in Pullman or Corvallis
As a Fresno State fan, it would be awesome to have Washington St and Oregon St in the MW. That would add 2 more solid teams to the conference and another exciting game each year
Wazzou and Oregon st are hoping big 12 will add them eventually which is possible. If Yormark wants teams in Pacific time zone SDST, Unlv, Wazzou and Oregon st wud be good additions
We know the schedule but they don’t have a media deal, and how does this impact the other sports. Without a TV deal this is going to get expensive to maintain their athletic departments. I feel for them because I thought that could have been my university after ut and OU left for the SEC.
They’re trying to hold out until 2026 - when the MWC’s contract expires. Seems like that PAC / Mountain West relegation model is a real possibility. It won’t solve their problems (they’ll still need to downsize their athletic departments to reflect current revenue), but it could soften the blow
At least for ORST & Wash St. Will be playing FCS Geographically with MWC Schools for the 2024 season and maybe 2025 that would give themva twovyear window for survivavl after it is a question mark.
The PAC 12 is dead. OSU and WSU are just going to hang onto the conference just for the money owed to the conference. Eventually they’ll join the Mountain West conference. Maybe changing the name to PAC 12 because of TV money is worth more.
Think about how much the college football landscape has changed just in the past 5 months. The truth is nobody knows what's going to happen going forward. OSU and WSU are doing whatever they can in the short term to stay relevant (and fiscally sound).

Crossing the continent for a payday ain't good for the quality of the game. But, who cares, the TV audience will swallow glitz. fuk-d-up 19 yr. olds getting some $$ and dope. Sad. Some will succeed but I can't think of a sport or teenager improved by money. I saw OSU beat OJ/ USC in the Mud Bowl, 3 - 0. John Wooden and UCLA sneak out of Gill Coliseum with a 1 or 2 pt. win, many times!! Those were the days.
I'm getting there. College football has become more of an economic arms race, as businesses run by universities with semi-pro players. I now ignore the bowl season, as the teams that play in them are often just a shadow of the regular season teams with all the opt-outs and portal transfers-they've just become "what's the point?" games for me.
