Somewhere along the line in the 1980s Rick was in the Guinness Book of Records for the hugest amount of notes played in a minute.

saw Rik in Glasgow poss 1975. His support band let him down. He came on stage in a leather sheep skinned flying jacket alone...... he apologised... When he played he played a blinder...... six wives.. bits of journey and then the whole of Arthur... when he eventually finished he asked the 3,800 Glasgow Apollo audience as we have ran out of material is there anything else hat you want to hear again.....back came the shout from a Glasgow way......... 'Play that Merlin it was dead magic'. I thought Rick was going to fall off the stage laughing.... yes he played it..... great gig great audience great great Rick

Rick Wakeman. A big big brilliant Star. In my youth i discovered his music and i just fell in love. it was my world. i had a lot of trouble to find his name. everybody said to me: " look for Yes".
my favourite is Journey to the Center of the Earth. I like his style.

Even more remarkably, he used to do all that stuff after drinking dry the entire bar... But I think he may be sober at this later stage in his career.

What Jimi Hendrix did on guitar is what Rick Wakeman has done on keyboard.

It's taken from "Rick Wakeman live 1990", directed by Ken O'Neill, not 1991. I own this gig on Dvd.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I wish Rick had stuck to his roots and kept making instrumental albums. Not to say that Ashley Holt isn’t a decent singer, but it’s not necessary as it puts a damper on his music. One of the reasons this was my favorite track off the album was because it had no vocals. The song was fine as it was, the lyrics make it kind of cheesy if you ask me.

3:47 Where does this come from? Silent films mayhem, common saloon piano playing, or is RW original ?

That little interlude occurs twice on the actual album, first is quite whimsical, second is an orchestration of the same segment.

Which Hoedown is better? Ricks here or Keith Emerson's take on Aaron Copeland's?

To abstract for my taste. He’s great but Tony Banks always had melody.
