    John seems so different here than in their early interviews. Much ''smaller', almost childlike, and happy letting George take the lead and sit back and take it all in with amusement. I guess it was the impact of all that LSD, eroding the sharper edges of his ego. It's a side to John that we rarely see in TV footage.

    • @gav_creates
      @gav_creates ปีที่แล้ว +17

      He had undergone ego death and according to sources after, was dangerously close to losing his sense of self altogether.
      It was due to his innately strong sense of self that he was able to recover at all. A lot didn’t.

    That's the greatest interview I've seen so far. One person represented the entire society's ignorance, and everyone else presented unbelievably well-spoken arguments. The more serious they appeared, the better their arguments were. The old man impressed me a lot. What I love the most is the level of respect, which is often hard to find nowadays - everyone listens, no one interrupts, and even if they hold completely different views, they separate the argument from the person. Everyone remains rational and respectful. Great.

    Why did life choose me to be a Beatle? And because meditation seemed something deeply special to him and because to others, not so much.
    The guru spoke to him about his soul. Told him:
    Your soul leads many lives on this earth. The life you have now is the last form it will have. That's why you are the quietest and most spiritual Beatle. When you die your soul will rest eternally. He also told him that on the other hand, John Lennon's soul is an almost new soul, he has had few lives, that is why he is so restless and childish.

      Mr. Angry Glasses was …
      \Sir John Clifford Mortimer CBE QC FRSL (21 April 1923 - 16 January 2009)[1] was a British barrister, dramatist, screenwriter and author. He is best known for short stories about a barrister named Horace Rumpole, adapted from episodes of the TV series Rumpole of the Bailey also written by Mortimer.
      - Wikipedia
      He was a Grade A thinker and simply challenged Harrison and Lennon’s waffle. He was a practical man who knew that, in fact, Love is not all you need.

    "The guy in the glasses" is John Mortimer, Lawyer and playwright. The Beatles were heavily into LSD at this point (John especially) and hadn't yet visited the Maharishi at his ashram in India, where they all found out he wasn't as spiritual as he claimed, having a great desire for Earthly things like girls and money.

I wonder if George looked back at this 20 years later and thought how niave was i ! 😂😂, everything else about meditation and spiritual teaching is right on point and only a good thing and George and The Beatles brought it to millions of people who wouldn't have known about it and that was a cultural phenomenon. But the 2000 yr old man 😂. Then again who knows its very unlikely but thats not impossible is it ? How Brave though ? The individualistic incentives of capitalism are fracturing our human population beyond repair today. I think largely as an extended, pathological response to the spread of human knowledge, connection and the belief that other human organizational schemes are not only possible, but necessary, that came out of the high education of the 50s and 60s
