Ringo, the man that helped change rock drumming from standard rock N' roll to artful classic rock drumming. Yes, there were other drummer later, but Ringo was the first to use a tom tom, floor, snare & bass drumming that resembles a drum section in a classical orchestra. Listen to "Day in the Life", Ringo's drumming and the production around the sound of his drumset, made it sound huge, cavernous and deep! He is the first drummer rock star, in every sense of the word...Starr! Long shine the Starr!

I think of Lennon would not have been killed they would have eventually gotten together...
Really sad that everything turned out the way it did, but still grateful for all the music. These guys were truly a gift to us all. I love Ringo's honesty and sense of humor...... you can see that all the fame and fortune never really went to his head he seems to have stayed grounded similar to George

Really enjoyed this interview. Lots of insights and indepth information on Ringo's childhood and growing up which was obviously tough. Despite his early ill health I love it when Ringo says he's gonna live to 87. Nearly there now, and I hope he's around for many more years to come.

I remember the plastic guitar broaches, about 3” long, each with a stick on picture of one of the Fab Four when I was 5 or 6 in 1963. The only radio program i heard was on a Saturday morning between 9 and 10 am - Junior Choice or something- and they always played a Beatles song about 9.50 after they’d played Burl Ives or Danny Kaye comedy songs, Frankie Howerd, How much is that doggie in the window etc. I had no idea how old some of those records were! My brother had Help! and Rubber Soul I played them constantly in the ‘60’s. I thought of myself as a Beatles fan - but I guess almost everyone was! Nevertheless I have only seen or heard a few programs about them as I’m more interested in the music but this interview was a revelation to me. I can’t say I was bothered about Ringo and his music but after listening to this interview I have completely changed my mind and I can understand why George and the others wanted him in the group.

When you do the Beatles tour in Liverpool that takes you to the childhood homes of all four of them, it's abundantly clear that Ringo grew up in the poorest working class part, and it's all too easy to picture everything he describes here about being in gangs, with guys putting razor blades under their lapels. Heard an interview with Lemmy Kilmister lately who said that The Stones were just "playing dress-up" pretending to be hard, The Beatles grew up in an actual "hard" city, and were the real deal in comparison.

Horrible such as what? I think the official story from the 4 themselves is the truth. Many reasons they split. John & yoko is a big one, Paul not wanting Alien Klein as their new manager, Paul wanting to tour and the others not agreeing, George not getting enough of his songs on their albums etc etc. John left to play with Yoko basically.

Nothing stays the same forever, everything changes. The death of Brian Epstein was the beginning of the end for the Beatles as they were before that event. Many things subsequently contributed to the end.
