As i grew up in East Germany, seing Twilight in the early seconds of the op driving a Trabant being chased by a Wartburg(both cars from the DDR/GDR) got me pumped beyond believe.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
What I love about this show is its being a peak gag anime, while also not forgetting to have a heart. Several moments genuinely make you tear up in an show that otherwise makes you laugh and doesn't take itself too seriously
Tbh I think this is very important for a comedic anime to still have these moments. It makes you love the characters and then the anime even more. That's why SpyXFamily, Kaguya Sama and Saiki (even if the story is way less consistant) are my favorite comedy shows
@@Vi_Vi_1 Like Twilight crying, when he was little and nobody helped him. Still nothing compared to ch 20 (in the next anime arc) how students romanticizes war vs what think about it ones, who have experienced horrors of war (Twilight's handler tells from her experience, her quote in unsettling like about being forced to eat dead people and her loved one being just a splatter on the wall). And the kicker - how many have experienced these horrors in Ruso-Ukrainian war due to Russia, Middle East due to USA?
5:16 One thing I particularly loved about this scene was how much it shows Anya's mindset: she just got kidnapped by goons that were after Loid and saw someone get killed right in front of her, yet that didn't scare her half as much as the idea of ending up alone again, and Loid recognizing this is one reason he chooses to keep her.
Her VA has some amazing range. Here as a kid, Chloe in princess connect as a teenager, and reincarnated slime as Claymen Ring finger person. VA range is always amazing to me
Anya is one of the most realistically written kids in anime (Ya know... minus the mind-reading thing). I've got 3 of them, and that's really how they are with their odd little idiosyncrasies, manners of speaking, and illogical behavior. She's intelligent for her age, but doesn't have the adult maturity to put it to proper use. She's got a lot of drive... but not a whole lot of focus. She can think ahead, but not far enough to account for most possible outcomes. Her view of the world doesn't leave much room for nuance. And while she's genuinely caring, she can still be self-absorbed, petty, and egotistical. Anya is 100% how most kids really are, and it's great to see a writer who understands how they think.
Something I think a lot of people miss in the beginning is that Anya clearly lied about her age. She’s tackling material and schooling that she’s clearly too young for but has at it anyway. It’s entirely possible she’s 4 years old.
@@RGC_animation multiplication yes, but at least in Germany, fractions are later than first grade (even though it's pretty easy, but still not really first grade)
Surprised you didn't have a win for Loid and Anya saying "Wow" in response to Yor's kick in episode 12, that moment was so funny to me that I rewound and watched it like three times before finishing the episode.
It's not only funny, but it also shows how much the two of them are beginning to think more alike; that they really are becoming more like father and daughter.
Something that often goes overlooked when Anya's playing in episode 5. She gets Loid to dress up not just as a spy, but as her favorite character/hero and she explicitly thinks of the two as very similar. I just think it's incredibly sweet that Anya basically sees Loid as a *superhero*. Imagine seeing a kid thinking of their dad as Captain America or Goku.
I think why we love the family scenes is because it's comforting for us to see a healthy family dynamic, even if it fake at first. So many family shows have unhealthy or even outright toxic family dynamics that seeing a healthy family just living their lives is not only a breath of fresh air but a warm comforting reminder of either the dynamic our family had when we are younger or of what we wanted to have but couldn't have.
This show does a lot right. It feels like a slice of life and a shounen with high comedic value, the characters are fun and compelling making it very enjoyable to watch their interactions, the animation and ost are both outstanding and you can just tell the voice actors and animators poured their souls into making this. I can't wait for the second cour!
I think the reason why the family scenes are the best is that a lot of people can relate to them my dad was always the cook in the house and there were days EXACTLY like this with my mom and sisters groggily waking up and me having done something the day before not wanting to eat cause i was scared my dad would be mad, but he would just brush it off have me eat then talk about it later. It's even more ironic that my dad has his PhD in psychology research XD
the thing with the pool left me so tense, you do not leave kids unsupervised near a pool, especially if its empty. If there are people in it, you don't leave there side without alerting those in the pool to have extra eyes on them. I've done water therapy you can be focused on the task at hand and not realize what's going on around you.
Back when I was 13 or 14, I had to go to a babysitting class and learn how to perform CPR on kids, and THEN go to a class at the pool on how to help if someone was drowning, before I was allowed to swim without supervision. Because *I* was the supervision, for my two younger, bratty cousins, who would run around screaming, and wouldn't listen to a single word I said, and when we got kicked out of the pool and banned for the rest of the summer (because my youngest cousin dropped a dookie in the pool while I was trying to get the other one to return a toy to a stranger's kid), I got blamed for it, because I "wasn't responsible enough." And that's why I didn't get a cell phone until I was 18, and I'm a Millennial.
As an Asian who had been in swimming classes "so that I wouldn't drown" and often practiced alone at the pool before I reached 12, parenting didn't work that way. Parents often aren't that trained. Parents didn't know because they didn't have the resources so they would just assume it would be fine. My mother didn't know how to swim and my father's always busy at work. My mother didn't even understand that kids could vomit if they swim too hard after meals.
@@chloeng0708 The vomiting thing is less about swimming and more about overexertion in general. Swimming responsibly on a full stomach is perfectly healthy, and far safer than swimming on a completely empty stomach. It's just a matter of being submerged in water acting as a force multiplier. The buoyancy means motions feel less laborious, while the pressure of the water adds resistance that exercises your muscles at a greater pace. If anything, a light amount of swimming and splashing around will aid digestion, but going too hard at swimming is just the same thing as running around playing on land too hard. P.S. Typing this has reminded me that I should go get some exercise in after having just ate.
HOW DO YOU NOT WIN THE MASK REMOVAL ANIMATION IN THE FIRST EPISODE! Aside from that dramatic point, also i am quite surprised you don't win more moments of the characters, like Loid falling on the ground exhausted but putting Anya down safely first, and others that are just consequences of overwork from Loid in both mind and body, not to mention Yor's awesome "Mommy" vibes overall.
11:35 I love the little bit of subtle foreshadowing there with Loid thinking it's amazing that Yor's brother turned out to be a decent human being, considering we later learn that Yor's brother is actually a member of the secret police whose siscon levels almost reach that of Jamie Lannister.
In episode 11 I really liked how the viewer was able to see and hear Anya’s panic in her eyes and voice when she reached the pool and her trying to handle to situation
One cool thing I noticed watching Spy x Family, you can tell when Twilight is thinking/acting like Twilight or Loid. Eyes narrowed and tired looking means Twilight. Eyes full and lively means Loid. A small detail I thought was cool.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Episode 1 fight against mobsters/politician. It was well thought and you could actually (but barely) see Twilight moving through flour smoke. Plus he was helluva cool threatening the politician after the fight. EDIT: also no love for WOW in Episode 12? Not very Waku Waku of you :D
If the mission gets exposed Anya is likely dead. If her abilities are found it is probably even worse. I think getting her that "Anya Castle Rescue" reward is at least morally the right thing to do. Also that Anya punch scene shows Anya has picked up traits from both parents. The physical punch from her mother, and the lying/twisting of the truth about why she threw the punch from her dad.
I spot two wins you missed: 1 - P P P Penguin!!! 2 - One of the nicest storytelling tricks of the entire show: Damian LITERALLY seing Anya prettier than she is, because of much in love he is with her.
Did you notice Episode 5, when Loid let's go of the zip line he takes the time to put his belt back on before he hits the ground. They animate it clearly. Such little details! Loid Legend.
One of my favorite parts about this anime that always stuck in my mind while watching was how realistic of a character Anya is. Usually kids are just a grown-up intellect in a child's body but Anya was an actual child in all aspects, surprisingly especially with the voice acting and perfectly slurred words in a child like way.
One of the things that I love is how they consider each other's feelings, trying to get the the best outcome in every situation. It kinda teaches everyone a lesson to how we should treat everyone. Also the fact that they don't feel like a fake family and don't force how they interact. It all feels natural. And weirdly enough, Anya acting like an actual child is perfect for me, one of the best anime in this year imo. And great video as always!
I like how He is more focused on his surroundings to fight had he uses things around him. While Yor is more of a physical fight being more talented with her speed and strength.
I'm surprised you didn't say anything about after the scene where Loid saves the two children about how he talks about the real world phenomenon of children with pools which is a really dangerous occurrence in which children drown in silence. I felt it kept the scene grounded with a hint of dark reality also showing how Anya truly did something heroic as she saved that boy by bringing attention to it, while selflessly willing to dive in without even knowing she can save him. The darkness of the explanation made it a series what could've happened and I thought it made that scene even more hard hitting.
26:07 I think it’s because if you didn’t have a stable family it reminds you of everything you wanted and if you did fills you with nostalgia all the same
17:36 I found this extremely satisfying as my parents are divorced and my mother is dating a guy, if someone ever asked me that question I'd broke down into tears too. He deserved that punch
I fell in love with this anime WAY more than I thought I would. All the characters are so outlandish at times, but so incredibly genuine at the same time. All the kids actually feel like small children, as well as Loid & Yor feeling like real first time parents stumbling through raising a child. The voice actress for Anya deserves all of Bazooka Bill's awards for how well she voices Anya! My own niece has done/said/melt-down cried the exact same way Anya does which just makes me laugh and 'Dawe' at the same time! All in all.....the second half of Spy x Family can't come any sooner.
There are so many things that I can't wait to be animated. I gurrantee that Anime Wins Dad is going to love the next arc especially since it properly introduces a new character I know he's gonna love
That music! They really captured that early-60's vibe, where jazz influences were still keenly felt. Great soundtrack which added a lot of the right atmosphere.
4:25 it would have been a good win to point out how due to Anya’s expression and the already introduced fact that he can disguise himself well you can figure out this small twist before it even happens
Thanks for another outstanding video! You really do brighten up my days with your thoughtful insight and I appreciate your hard work and sacrifice! I can always see the love you put into each review!
33:47 I love the little detail of the colour of the drinks, you can see two of the being brown, likely coffee for yor and loid, and the third being orange, likely juice for anya.
Yeah, I noticed that as well. I love how it shows her quick-thinking in trying to subtly clear up Yor's confusion and confirm that Loid's single, while her complete lack of subtlety reminds us that she's just a little kid. Plus, it's hilarious.
Honestly, I know you can't win everything because of time constraints (and copyright) but If it where for me, that video would be twice as long and would have twice as many wins. This show is outstanding and I am so happy to see that this incredible manga is getting an equally incredible anime. Can't wait for the next arc and thanks a lot for this great video.
In my opinion: The reason that the Down Time scenes or "Family scenes in this anime hit different is the dichotomy of the fact that all three of them know the "Family " they have got is fake to separate degrees (Lloyd sees it as a mission, Anya sees it as an Excitment as if it's a TV show she is living in, Yor sees herself as the fake having no idea how to raise Anya or be a wife to Lloyd) However, the fact that all 3 try to be something they are not, they are being a genuine family (Lloyd's sucsses is based on Anya's sucsses so he has to be a "real" father to her not a fake, Yor's killer instincts can now be seen as her being a protective mother to Anya and Anya (while she is scared of Yor at times) thinks Yor's strength is just the coolest, Anya knows it is a lie but gains everything from that lie (a house, a dad, a mom, good food, fun)) All of them think they are forced to care about each other without realizing that they actually DO care.
Spy x Family is......a new level of....strength, aesthetic beauty, proper gag use, empathy, musical timing, character recognition and development, growth and progression, passion displayed through effort, adaptation, and, by far most important, kawaii. I had to hide in the bathroom at this coffee shop to not tear up in public from the hype, joy, and vulnerability I felt seeing your expose of this anime. Your work is ALWAYS in the top most grand, thoughtful, and majestic content posted on TH-cam. I am happy to be living right now, every time I get to review an anime I enjoyed, with you.
I can't believe I'm only just now realizing how brilliant the family name "Forger" is. Yes, I realized it's a funny name for a spy right away, but only later did I make the connection with "forging a family" in the sense of "building" instead of "faking". Every sense of the word applies. That's so clever!
We were so invested in little Anya, when she had her feet dangling over a fence in episode 3 and it looked like it was a sheer drop, we both got really tense because they aren't real parents and those instincts aren't quite there. Really loved this series. Great summary, thanks 😁
In win 30 I also love how they went the extra mile to put the light and shadow of a tree over them. It was completely unnecessary, but they did it anyway. The entire anime is littered with these little touches that make this world feel that much prettier and more alive, even if you don't even notice them consciously. I also love Anya's house-tour for Yor in particular. I can totally see my own niece doing pretty much the exact same thing when she was about 5. They really nailed the behaviour of a child her age. I only knew Anya's VA prior as Chise from Ancient Magus Bride and I did not even suspect that might have been the same person speaking until I read the cast-list. And then that scene with Anya speaking as other people in her mind in episode 11... she is seriously impressive. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to speak in other voices, but still keep "enough Anya" in it to make it sounds like Anya herself is changing her voice. In Loid and Yor's words: Wow! :D
19:00 Btw, this isn't in the manga, there, this part is a lot more realistic, he rent the castle, but only the Family and Franky, the only action there was the fight between Twilight and Yor. Makes a lot more sense, and is more than enought to make a little girl happy. Anyway I loved that episode, so over the top and fun.
Something you may have missed, but the fact that Loid is so good at cooking really shows his skills as a spy. He's probably had to disguise himself as a high class chef many times, thus needing to learn good cooking skills.
26:12 The answer's fairly simple: The family scenes are *found family* scenes. We expect a certain level of stable comfort and/or happiness in "real" families in media, so big arguments and fights feel like a slog because it seems *so obvious* why they should just get along, while the moments of great joy and peace don't feel like wins because it's expected. It's why, for example, Sasuke, Sakura, and Sarada fail as a family unit-it's an informed trait, and always "told" rather than "shown." (heck, all the families in Boruto feel like that, but the Uchihas just take the cake.) With the Forgers they're all strangers, so it makes sense that they all have feathers that get ruffled while in close proximity with each other. And because we go into this with the mindset of "they'll need time to work things out," seeing them succeed, even in small, quiet moments, is a big deal.
Ikr, especially considering the fact that when you really get down the biscuits sasuke probably only went with sakura because she was only one desperate enough to still want him. Srsly they are NOT a healthy relationship on either end.
@@AnInkStick ikr? Like i get that it's canon and that the manga apparently is better at showing sasuke's attraction to sakura but STILL it isnt a compelling a relationship nor does it seem like a good one either. I guess it would have been better if they made a series showing how sakura and sasuke built their relationship after the war and before boruto
I love how we get an early introduction to the living space by Anya giving Yor a tour of the house, and then a bookending at the end with her giving Agent Penguin a tour, albeit presented with her playing as a spy agency. Nice little touch
26:05 I think the main reason why we love these family scenes is, at least from the chats I’ve had about this anime, is that the Forgers are Imperfectly Perfect. Loid is trying to be the best version of himself, and will do everything he can to protect everyone, Yor is trying to make sure she can do whatever she can do to not ruin what she has. And Anya finally feels home after not having one for as long as she knows. They all came from different backgrounds have one common goal, Safety. And when they’re around each other, you can tell that they all feel Safe, and from my experience, you’ll see the truest self from a person when they feel the safest. That’s what I can tell from my opinion.
Spy x Family is just so wholesome and sweet, Thank you for covering Spy x Family and giving it the wins treatment as it rightly deserves it, I also like how you are treating this as the first half with the second part airing later in the year. You really put a lot of effort into these videos and it shows.
"Moooommmm!!! I'm being kidnapped!" Is immediately followed by Yor going Chuck Norris on every poor shmuck that had the misfortune of messing with Anya.
its so cute, but it also doesn't shy away from the gruesome part of the show. while it's sweet and comedic, it still manages to show the actual lore of the show; that there's a war on the horizon and everyone is trying to do their best to protect their little corner for their family. like even reading the manga, the line of who's right, the east or the west, we still don't actually know. and that kind of gray lens on war is what makes spy x family so interesting. we see the way the west spies operate (loid) and we see the east people view those traitors to the east (yor & yuri). and we see that although both parties are fighting for different sides, they are ultimately doing the same thing. they're all just doing what they think will help the world stay in peace and to protect others. it's legitimately heartwarming to see and it gets better when yor and loid start to actually care for each other and their little family. this series really is just everything that i like. when it's sweet and cute, it gives me so much happiness. when it starts to get serious, it gives us actual insight on what these people actually think about this very sensitive time period. it does add some realistic aspects but it doesn't do them too much to the point that the series feels hopeless. and i think that's why i really fell for it
8:45 The reson why it feels soviet esque is because it plays in a fictional east Germany. If you look at the map in the begining you can recognize that it depicts north Germany. The name of the Capital "Berlint" is alsso in direct reference to that. East Germany also had rampant reporting of neighbours to the so called Stasi (Statssicherheit) or Statesecurity.
Another win for episode 5: the entire "rescue" was, arguably, Twilight being his authentic self. His expression is more firm than usual and he is allowed to engage in his espionage attributes sans nearly all disguise. We often forget that Twilight is Twilight, not Lloid (at least, not from his perspective). He may have been wearing a physical mask, but that is the first time that Twilight could be himself in front of and for Anya 😌 it adds another layer of sweetness to this well written story.
You know the thing about these family scenes is these 3 are amazing people with talents beyond the realm of humans but they are also living like a normal family too... It's honestly just so beautiful that it's easy to fall in love with this series based on heart alone then you add in the action and humor and they've really created the complete package! I knew this would become a fantastic anime when I started reading the Manga was that 3 years ago now? My time does fly! 😆
This show is an amazing dissection of human behavior. As a sociologist, I find this series to not only be emotional crack, but also just so detailed at looking into the struggle that people go through in putting up a mask and compartmentalizing in their everyday lives. It's comedic, wholesome, and takes an incredibly honest look at how children behave. I can remember taking things incredibly seriously at Anya's age and how dramatically I could react to things that were out of the norm - I was a child with undiagnosed autism and kinesthetic synesthesia - and how over the top my own reactions could be. The author and animators go out of their way to express the full breadth of human reactions in each scene and it is a fucking delight every goddamn time. I'm recommending this series to as many people as will listen.
I waited until all of this anime was out to watch it, and man am I glad I did! It's so cute and so funny, I'm really really looking forward to the next season!!! (I legit can't wait to see what happens with the whole dog plot which was hinted at but then didn't seem to fit in this season anymore lol)
Love this series it's great love the balance between humor and storytelling, i find a lot of shows in general really struggle to find a proper balance between the two but this series nails it very well.
Why do we love wholesome family moments in anime? Well that's easy. As much as we love anime here, most of it is stuff that would be incredibly stressful if it happened to us in real life. But when the wholesome, happy family moments happen, we can look at that and think "I'd love to have that". And at the same time, we're so happy that the characters we love DO have that. It's an expression of a simple dream that almost everyone can relate to. That's my take, anyways.
You have GOT TO WIN the sound she makes when she goes all "cooler, bigger girl" smile. It's peak gag! Really loved the video, I teared up in laughter and joy. Also those two "Wow"'s 😂😂 Can't wait for cour 2.
I’m surprised how quickly this Wins video came out, considering that the show has just gone into its mid-season break. Definitely not a complaint. Just an observation.
Your question about family stuff- Humans are frequently inherently sympathetic to some degree- mirroring, parasympathetic response, and all that. Especially for an anime and manga like Spy X Family where the characters are so easy to care about because they're treated more like real people than often happens, I think scenes like that create a sort of 'sympathetic comfort'. Characters you care about are having a warm, comfy moment, and there's both feeling good that they get that, and getting some of that feeling yourself as a sort of parasocial inclusion.
17:47 That's Atsumi Tanezaki for you, a highly skilled and versatile voice actress, a darling for voice directors to the point that in this anime although she was cast as Yor, the actress requested Anya, and she was given to her on the spot.
This anime deserves to be on some kind of required anime list. It’s fun, interesting, exciting and filled with variety every episode. Every episode is a treat.
I love how you portrait with so much care all the hard work of either the artist's, production, editing, and overall well direct and wrote this anime is.
The fact that most furniture is based on furniture that exists in real life is such a move. As a fact Loids chair and couch in the anime are based on Le Corbusier LC2
I honestly ran into this series kind of late. I was seeing all these memes and videos, then after 1 more vid I said to heck with it and I am so glad I ran into this series.
I love your genuine appreciation for the art and dedication people who work on the show put in to make it as good as it is. It's very heartwarming to see someone recognise the hardworking people in the anime industry.
My favorite detail is how in the sub ( or at least some of them) it includes Anya's misspeaking which whilst being even more adorable is also a great detail
I think the family scenes are so lovely because they are the focus of the show. Everything else always comes back to them, because in the end the main focus of the show is the personal growth of the forger household as persons and a family :D . Some things may seem more important, but the real running theme of the show arent missions, personal goals or drama with little hangups, but the forming of a small family.
Always love these, this anime was such a nice wholesome treat even with all the violent things going on. I hope you'll be able to get to Ascendance of a Bookworm at some point, absolutely worthy of your time for it I think
I'm usually a jaded and very critical person nowadays but Spy x Family clicks for me easily as 10/10 simple because it has a little bit of everything and utilizes them effectively and in a very consistent and enjoyable way. It's not overly complex or philosophical but it also does tackle some really compelling themes like childcare, family bonds, and the effects of a cold war, all while being a good old gag comedy with a classic cartoon feel to it.
Did you know that in episode 8 at win 153-155 the city shown is based on a real city, namely the capital of Hungary called Budapest. They changed the parliament building slightly and the chain bridge, the hotel Kárpátia and the Tokaj wine.
Part of what I love about watching your content is seeing you be so excited about things I missed when I watched it the first time. It makes re-watching it a joy. I tend to just... watch it at face value but you always have such great insights. Thank you for continuing your amazing content-o-dah
I love episode 5 with a passion. It’s this elaborate game just to make a single child who’s had a hard life happy. And that all the other spies get so into it, like these are international spies, but they’re all so jazzed to be there to work with Twillight and are clearly having a blast contributing to it, the dude clearly choking back happy tears before hitting the fireworks button is my fave.
Because they present a perfect family. Its fake and that makes it so dam relatable. Because family is messy its never happy people always have problems and here we can see a genueni executed in services of an amazing plot and art.
I think my favorite part is also when Anya saves the little boy in the pool. But I love that she comes up with this surprisingly specific excuse and reason why she has to run back to the pool, namely becoming a pro swimmer so that she can gain stars that way lol
Should give props also for how much of the show became immediately iconic and talked about all over -- both of Yor's typical outfits were immediate cosplay gold; Anya's school outfit and horns also; Anya's smug look; Bazooka Bill especially yelling out "Daddy!"...those were the things I noticed people having an immediate reaction to.

It's not only funny, but it also shows how much the two of them are beginning to think more alike; that they really are becoming more like father and daughter.

Also helps that they just genuinely have some funny moments
Yea…. For some reason, a healthy family dynamic in anime only happen once in a blue moon. And they are just tot adore as well.
I forget which reactor I follow said it, but they basically called it a "slice of shonen", which caused me to die laughing.
Ikr
For damian it's shoujo tho lol
I think the reason why the family scenes are the best is that a lot of people can relate to them my dad was always the cook in the house and there were days EXACTLY like this with my mom and sisters groggily waking up and me having done something the day before not wanting to eat cause i was scared my dad would be mad, but he would just brush it off have me eat then talk about it later. It's even more ironic that my dad has his PhD in psychology research XD
You better "not" check that one room your father strictly forbids you not to enter
@@troy10troytroy To late XD
@@thebob5240 oh boi, your in for a therapy session now.
Omg ur dad is real life Loid 😂😂👍
omg Anya how’d you learn how to write so well???
the thing with the pool left me so tense, you do not leave kids unsupervised near a pool, especially if its empty.
Because *I* was the supervision, for my two younger, bratty cousins, who would run around screaming, and wouldn't listen to a single word I said, and when we got kicked out of the pool and banned for the rest of the summer (because my youngest cousin dropped a dookie in the pool while I was trying to get the other one to return a toy to a stranger's kid), I got blamed for it, because I "wasn't responsible enough."
And that's why I didn't get a cell phone until I was 18, and I'm a Millennial.
@@SuperiorPosterior Man that must have sucked.
Then the video would be 10 hours long. He should've just added 200 wins for all the stuff he didn't mention.
The fact that Twilight all but told the politician "I fucked your daughter" should also get a win.
I spot two wins you missed:
1 - P P P Penguin!!!
The fact the Anya into Loid double "wow" after that last Yor kick is CRIMINAL. CRIMINAL I SAY.
4:25 it would have been a good win to point out how due to Anya’s expression and the already introduced fact that he can disguise himself well you can figure out this small twist before it even happens
ahhh notification gang !!! anime that just finished gets a win version video out already?? may this video blow up!
Thanks for another outstanding video! You really do brighten up my days with your thoughtful insight and I appreciate your hard work and sacrifice! I can always see the love you put into each review!
Thanks so much for the lovely comment and for the equally lovely tip!!
33:47 I love the little detail of the colour of the drinks, you can see two of the being brown, likely coffee for yor and loid, and the third being orange, likely juice for anya.
8:14 AAAAAHHHH you missed the part where Anya goes "wingman" mode with a song to get Loid and Yor together T_T
And twice as many copyright claims and half as much revenue
@@AnimeWins that's true too...
@@AnimeWins 😭😭😭😭😭
In my opinion:
The reason that the Down Time scenes or "Family scenes in this anime hit different is the dichotomy of the fact that all three of them know the "Family " they have got is fake to separate degrees (Lloyd sees it as a mission, Anya sees it as an Excitment as if it's a TV show she is living in, Yor sees herself as the fake having no idea how to raise Anya or be a wife to Lloyd) However, the fact that all 3 try to be something they are not, they are being a genuine family (Lloyd's sucsses is based on Anya's sucsses so he has to be a "real" father to her not a fake, Yor's killer instincts can now be seen as her being a protective mother to Anya and Anya (while she is scared of Yor at times) thinks Yor's strength is just the coolest, Anya knows it is a lie but gains everything from that lie (a house, a dad, a mom, good food, fun)) All of them think they are forced to care about each other without realizing that they actually DO care.
As an artist, I am so happy someone finally mentioned how well done the animation is in anime outside of fight scenes
I can't believe I'm only just now realizing how brilliant the family name "Forger" is. Yes, I realized it's a funny name for a spy right away, but only later did I make the connection with "forging a family" in the sense of "building" instead of "faking". Every sense of the word applies. That's so clever!
I like how they had Yor fall so Loid didn't have to hit her and then proceeded to sock Frankie in the face.
We were so invested in little Anya, when she had her feet dangling over a fence in episode 3 and it looked like it was a sheer drop, we both got really tense because they aren't real parents and those instincts aren't quite there. Really loved this series. Great summary, thanks 😁
26:05 my guess, there is so much romantic drama on a lot of tv shows that seeing a happy wholesome family is just fun and refreshing
I watched this entire video with a big dumb grin on my face just from the clips. Love this video and can't wait for the 2nd season to be released
I swear it's so hard not to just unconsciously smile watching anime wins
It’s not going to be a “season 2” it will be a 2nd part to season 1 which is coming out in October
26:12 The answer's fairly simple:
The family scenes are *found family* scenes. We expect a certain level of stable comfort and/or happiness in "real" families in media, so big arguments and fights feel like a slog because it seems *so obvious* why they should just get along, while the moments of great joy and peace don't feel like wins because it's expected. It's why, for example, Sasuke, Sakura, and Sarada fail as a family unit-it's an informed trait, and always "told" rather than "shown." (heck, all the families in Boruto feel like that, but the Uchihas just take the cake.)
With the Forgers they're all strangers, so it makes sense that they all have feathers that get ruffled while in close proximity with each other.
We love this family so much because they put so much effort into be one and succeed without being related by blood
I'm being kidnapped!"
Is immediately followed by Yor going Chuck Norris on every poor shmuck that had the misfortune of messing with Anya.
its so cute, but it also doesn't shy away from the gruesome part of the show. while it's sweet and comedic, it still manages to show the actual lore of the show; that there's a war on the horizon and everyone is trying to do their best to protect their little corner for their family.
like even reading the manga, the line of who's right, the east or the west, we still don't actually know. and that kind of gray lens on war is what makes spy x family so interesting. we see the way the west spies operate (loid) and we see the east people view those traitors to the east (yor & yuri). and we see that although both parties are fighting for different sides, they are ultimately doing the same thing.
they're all just doing what they think will help the world stay in peace and to protect others. it's legitimately heartwarming to see and it gets better when yor and loid start to actually care for each other and their little family.
this series really is just everything that i like. when it's sweet and cute, it gives me so much happiness. when it starts to get serious, it gives us actual insight on what these people actually think about this very sensitive time period. it does add some realistic aspects but it doesn't do them too much to the point that the series feels hopeless. and i think that's why i really fell for it
THIS IS A PROPER COMMENT!!!
Kidding. Love you videos and super thrilled to see you cover Spy x Family--this anime is fantastic on so many levels
In glad she got Anya's role
This anime deserves to be on some kind of required anime list. It’s fun, interesting, exciting and filled with variety every episode. Every episode is a treat.
Always a pleasure to hear you shower a show with love. Hope you and your family are doing well.
We are all very good ty so much!
Hope you're all good too
Awesome :D
30:59 The way she Karate-chopped the cork away deserves a win xD SO fast but still in-character with her.
33:39 This "Genuine and lovely" dialogue coming from the same voice acress from one of the main heroines of Oregairu, how ironic
The happy family scenes takes me back to when I was little and even though times might not had been perfect, they were perfect in that moment
36:40 you didn’t mention how this scene is a dragon ball reference, he’s on planet Namek and defending against a very dragon ball looking attack
Bruh I watched DB 24-25 years ago...
I swear this season has had a few stellar shows, this being one of them. So many brilliant moments throughout!
Great video!! The funny thing is even though it’s a fake family the family scenes never seem forced. I really enjoyed this anime.
This anime was brilliant, emotional and beautiful! Can't wait for the next part.
I am always so excited and happy when I see a new upload from you! Thank you very much.
Ty for being subbed for 2 years!
Always love these, this anime was such a nice wholesome treat even with all the violent things going on. I hope you'll be able to get to Ascendance of a Bookworm at some point, absolutely worthy of your time for it I think
One of my favorite parts was when twilight was being a little softy because the grandma thanked him for his help
I'm usually a jaded and very critical person nowadays but Spy x Family clicks for me easily as 10/10 simple because it has a little bit of everything and utilizes them effectively and in a very consistent and enjoyable way. It's not overly complex or philosophical but it also does tackle some really compelling themes like childcare, family bonds, and the effects of a cold war, all while being a good old gag comedy with a classic cartoon feel to it.
you missed anya's WOW scene when yor kicked the guy in the aquarium pretty sure that moment deserves an extra win just for that
The castle scene in episode 5 is one of the only anime scenes where I simply can not stop smiling no matter how many times I watch it
Did you know that in episode 8 at win 153-155 the city shown is based on a real city, namely the capital of Hungary called Budapest. They changed the parliament building slightly and the chain bridge, the hotel Kárpátia and the Tokaj wine.
Forgot the win for Anya waking up saying "is this the end of the world?"
Bro this was awesome
I love this show and Your work you put in these videos, my man!
Because they present a perfect family. Its fake and that makes it so dam relatable. Because family is messy its never happy people always have problems and here we can see a genueni executed in services of an amazing plot and art.
This made me experience almost every feeling I had while watching the series
Thank you so much for letting me experience this new for a second time!
I think my favorite part is also when Anya saves the little boy in the pool. But I love that she comes up with this surprisingly specific excuse and reason why she has to run back to the pool, namely becoming a pro swimmer so that she can gain stars that way lol
it was such a joy to watch this anime myself. i really enjoy your work so i really appreciate all your hard work.
loved the dbz refrence in episode 10, episode 10 played out as a spot the reference game
Anya has such a memeable face. Truly ICONIC.
not getting a separate win for Anya's and Loid's "wow" at the last episode seriously disappointed me :(
At Win #147, I love how they actually showed the question on the chalkboard to contextualize what Anya got wrong
