Little fact: The quebecois accent "thickness" varies from one Quebecois to the next. Lots of Montrealers (and in other smaller cities) grow up in both French and English, they don't have that particular accent. Others have it, ranging from thin to thick. There are also Anglo-Montrealers with the opposite accents, speaking primarily in English and French with an English accent (or not)... cheers

Having had boyfriends in QC this is definitely only half accurate. When I was living there, Quebecois men would love to use the pick up line and would be very, very up front about coming up to women with: "Veux-tu quelqu'un pour te rechauffer pendant l'hiver?" ("Do you want someone to keep you warm through the winter?"). They are also extremely seductive, warm, caring and intellectual (philosophical). Historical Fact: Men in Québec have no trouble letting women take the initiative, and this is in part because of the "Filles du Roi" ("Daughters of the king") who were 800 women from France, aged 18-30, under the protection of the King, who moved the New France to help increase the population. Intermarriage of French men with native women was encouraged but there just weren't enough women.
All the Filles du Roi came to New France voluntarily.
Unlike many women at the time, the Filles du Roi were allowed to choose their husbands.
Admittedly, they were choosing from a very small pool - the population of New France is just over 3,000 and includes a disproportionately high number of priests.
The women met potential suitors in a series of chaperoned, interview-like "dates."
The meetings were presided over by Jean Talon himself, along with Ursuline nun Marie Guyart. (Guyart would later be canonized as St. Marie of the Incarnation.) The women sailed across the Atlantic then down the St. Lawrence, stopping first at Quebec City, then Trois-Rivieres, and eventually making their way to Montreal. At every stop, they had to make a choice; go with one of the men there, or see if there's a better husband waiting down river.
But the thing was, it was the women who chose their suitor, the men had to deal with the rejection.

Very accurate, except the fact that you guys overlooked our love for hockey. Watching the Montreal Canadiens to be more specific (most of us, some like to be weird and cheer for Boston or Toronto) when the team is doing great people are happy, when the team lose a couple of games in a row, people are a little depressed, but the best part is the playoffs. Having 20 people in the living room for 3 hours, all wearing a Canadiens jersey or t-shirt is very common. Hearing people that never saw a game before cheering with us. Yhea I miss playoff hockey in Montreal, I like my province and the people here even if it's not perfect, I wouldn't live anywhere else.

It seems only the main character was Québécois and the others were Franco-Ontariens (they had the slight anglo accent!). But I forgive you haha.
The description of dating a Québécois seems quite accurate. They are not the most romantic bunch, but as a Québécoise, I'm not really into cheesy stuff either. I like that Québécois treat us as "one of the guys", as their equals, and not a delicate flower. And I do like going camping for my part, it's a perfect couple getaway.
Sometimes it's a problem though, dating a Québécois, you feel like you're dating your brother. It's just so confortable and platonic in some way. I do have a thing for Frenchmen in that respect, to spice things up. With them there's like "the game" where you seduce each other, where you charm the other with your words. There's a build-up of sorts. With the Québécois it's just so much more intimate quickly, you don't play a game, it's raw and authentic from the start.

The Quebec way is just super easy on the guy. You don't have to risk rejection, the women will approach you. You don't have to go broke dating. His female equivalent is never pressuring him to get married or withholding bedroom fun. He can be unemployed or an all-out hustler who works 20 hours per week. It's not going to matter to Quebec women. He can offer her a french fry at McDonalds or a steamed hot dog from a shack by the side of some highway. It's all good if he is dating his own. Any woman from outside Quebec expecting a Quebecois to be like a guy from France is in for the shock of her life. One fancies himself an intellectual even if he drives a cab or waits on tables. The other lives to watch hockey and drink beer.

Definitely visit Maine & Quebec! Montreal will give you enough english if your French is lacking or rusty. I visited Maine hoping to use my French, but many many people were primarily anglophone, with a smattering of swear words or very specific colloquialisms. Havent been to Quebec in ages, but now that they are doing away with the vax requirement, i hope to visit soon!

@@inconnu4961 I might have to do that soon. My family all still live along the border of Maine and NB. I have never been to visit them there. I know they have family reunions in Quebec I want t go to the next one. Whenever they plan it. So funny I watched this video again and it's so weird how I grew up in California, but I totally act like that girl who just acts like Tom Boy. LOL It must be genetic because I am not very sensitive or romantic, I am more playful and competitive. I treat my husband like my best friend. I mean I have absolute respect for him, but we're also good friends. I have known him since grade school when I was trying to fist fight boys. Hahaha! That was in 3rd and 4th grade.

@@Acadian.FrenchFry if you ever come to Québec, pls try to do a road trip around the province. My best suggestion is to start in Montréal (explore the city), then take Chemin du Roy (King's road) to Québec City (it's an old 17th century road with a lot of historical french style buildings on its way). After exploring Québec city, keep driving east along Gulf of St-Lawrence on highway 138, then hwy 362 and again 138. Just explore scenic spots on the way (like Casino de Charlevoix, which is located in a picturesque medieval-style Castle and where G7 took place in 2018). When you reach Baie-Comeau or Godbout, take a ferry to another side of the Gulf (Matane), and from there keep driving east on highway 132 till you reach Forillon National Park, and from there to Percé. From Percé you can drive back to Montréal through Maine ). You can do this road trip in 7-10 days, but even if you just do part of it (Montréal-Québec), it's gonna be awesome anyway )) The best time to do this is either in Early Summer (June) or early Autumn (October). Good luck )

You never know about the weather in Canada. I have experienced -52C with the wind chill in Edmonton and 15C in Vancouver in the winter. It is not a cold place either. I have experienced 44C "feels like" 49C in Banff and a degree less in Jasper. Also 40C "feels like" 42C in Edmonton and Saskatoon. Those experiences were obviously during the summer. It can get really warm due to a Chinook wind during the winter in southern Alberta. It has gotten to 35C in February. Also, sometimes it snows all year-round, even if you're not far from the U.S mainland (CALGARY).
