      Franco-Ontariens speak franglais and have an Anglophone accent when they speak French. Québécois always switch to English on them because they think they're Anglophones.
      Québécois can and do speak standard French. They are the ones who decide the norms of French in Canada due to their high number, but also the fact that their French is much less influenced by English. I could live in France as a Québécois without problem.

    • @Louismetal1
      @Louismetal1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@francix99 It's not that, some sounds we still use here in Québec were lost and unused to French people. For exemple we had many immigrants from Viet Nam a while ago, even the 1st gen can do our accent since they have all the sounds ( and more ) same for Romanians. It's just that most french from the old countru stopped using those sound and the hability to recreate em it has no link with english whatsoever. Frenchs use more english words than we do; parking, snowboard, roller,etc. We use: stationnement, planche à neige, patins à roues allignées.
      However opposed to French, we have a good grasp on the english command and in Montréal most of us are perfectly bilingual.

    I've travelled around France quite a bit and there are as many regional accents as in the US and the UK (has anyone tried Glaswegian English?). I've never experienced any difficulty in understanding what people were saying. Of course, people in regions where there is a dialect (as in the UK and the USA) may be at first difficult to understand but most French people will try to make themselves understood once they grasp that you are a French-speaking person from overseas.

    Quebec is culturally amazing and has so many wonderful things to offer but at the same time it’s a mess. Unfortunately, I have never had the personal experience of going, I am in Western Canada. But I do take french classes. Grades 4 and 5 our teacher taught us traditional French. Then grade 6 to 9 we had a new teacher and she taught us Québécois French and now for grade 10 and 11 I’m back to traditional French.

    Ah, the old "Quebecois is bad French" routine. We've heard it before... it would be nice to grow out of it, one day. I mean, Australian or Texan English is very different from "standard" English, but nobody would dare say that they're "bad" places to learn the language.
    That being said, your Québécois accent is quite good.
