I know this is an old series but i liked a lot of it. I got into this game a couple days ago and your videos have helped a lot. I also really enjoyed the radio speech at the end
Ever since I bought uboat during a sale I’ve been playing nonstop. It’s very cool coming across different videos such as yours and the tactics people use to play. It’s also making me improve since I’m still semi new. Great video and keep up the good work.
WOOOOOO! LET’S GOOOOO!! My U-48 and I currently have two escort carriers under our belt, and over 200k tons sunk, and my game is only in July 1940. Super epic!
Oh also, max out your crew ASAP. Get better torpedoes (even though it’s not realistic) and just get better everything from the HQ long before they’re “actually” available. It’s nutty
Oh also one final note: in order to keep your boat from sticking out of the water, have an engineer go to the depth keeping station and he’ll handle it. That’s more for when you have two engineers though
Just Wow that was nice. Interested to see assignments to HQ when you have the crew for it. See if it has a good return in rewards for time without the officer.
It's amazing! All that tonnage sunk and only one torpedo expended? The BDU are going to just shower you with all the decorations you want, Herr Kaleun! Yeah, I don't see any problem with taking out the escorts either, but of course, doing that doesn't actually add anything to your required tonnage for the mission (only the merchant shipping sunk counts towards the total). Everybody enjoys a bit of deck gun action, but you need to be aware that you only have limited ammunition and you will burn through a lot pretty quickly engaging on the surface. Taking the merchant ships out with the deck gun will become more dangerous for you when the Allies start putting defensive guns on them, so be careful to make sure they are unarmed before you surface the boat. You don't want to get into fire fights on the surface in a u-boat and take damage; they're not the most resilient of vessels when they've got more holes than a Swiss cheese, and it has a significant detrimental effect on the morale and discipline of your crew if you're continually taking battle damage. Your crew will start giving you the hairy eyeball pretty quickly if they believe you don't have their personal safety at heart and the effectiveness of your boat will decrease exponentially as a consequence of that. You will also find that the deck gun will become redundant later on in the war as you get upgraded to better u-boats. Indeed, the Type-XXI u-boats don't pack a deck gun at all, but they do get a larger complement of torpedoes and they are significantly faster through the water than the little Type-VII you are currently commanding. I know it's tempting to admire your handiwork from the periscope, but you do need to remain aware that your periscope will eventually give your position away to the enemy lookouts, so don't sit at periscope depth with your periscope permanently up, especially in flat calm sea conditions in broad daylight. Make your operational observations, launch your torpedoes and then "down periscope". You can always watch the good bits like ships going pop in the outside view.
Good Start, I never realized captured officers were so valuable ..but obviously yes. I assumed all captives in the early war, were released in the next neutral harbour.
Wow. That was quick for a new series. I'm really looking forward to this one. Suggestion: Perhaps you can explain why you are taking certain equipment on board, like what is the purpose of having rifles. Not sure if you are interested in providing a little historical context, such as the torpedoes you are using. When were they first used. The problems they presented, etc. One final suggestion. What happens when you visit a neutral port, such as Rotterdam, before it is taken over in the spring of 1940.
LOVE your playstyle (it's like mine, lol) - hell yes, take out the escorts and then wreak havoc. **** One thing I do wish, and I have heard other UBoat players say this: I want "my kills" to effect the war. Hear me out here: Say the UK has 300 warships to start - and you, as the UBoat captain take out 10, then they should have 290 left, and hence, within a year or two there are fewer escorts per convoy. Sure, they would have a "replenishment rate" - and historical events (at one point FDR sent 50 destroyers over as part of Lend-Lease) - but you take my point. Your kills effect how many of what type is available instead of endless spawning based on war year. Hey - loved the conservative use of 1 torp and 3 deck guns kills - that leaves you a "metric f*ck ton" (a real term, I'm sure) of torps for other kills. You could easily walk back in to port with empty tubes and 40k in kills. Loving the new series - please do make more - and don't be shy about making a longer one, or multiple "quickies" - but, hey, it's your channel and I'm just along for the ride..
Thanks so much Steven! I honest think it would be amazing if your hard work was visible on the map showing how it is turning the tide of the war. Being able to see the front lines move in favor or against Germany based on how much tonnage you're sinking. It would certainly give you more of a drive to get out there and put in the work. I was thinking of making longer videos, but it seems like the ~20 minutes ones do the best. Not too long that people get bored and not too quick that there isn't enough entertainment in them. I will have to work on getting up to 30ish minutes videos
I think there was a coalition force of french, Canadian and US ships and others and there were a lot of armed merchant ships so it's not just the royal navy by itself
Hi Rex! I have owned the game since launch pretty much and have been replaying it constantly. So for me I would say its pretty high. Start a campaign and finish it. Take a bit of a break and then come back and play a different campaign.
The much requested U-48 Career is finally here! Hope you all enjoy and thank you all so much for the comments and support!
Dude - THANK YOU. I am excited to watch this - am going to watch now, and will comment after. Good luck captain!
vondabar you sank it i am givine you the nitse cross !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half way through the episode and I'm already excited for this career
Thank you so much!
Awesome to see a quick turnaround on the series. I'm loving the idea of being able to play the full war.
*Smart....destroying the destroyer first.* (Thumbs-up)
Watching this episode for the second time, found it inspiring. Love your intro and style.

You beast! Over 200k already?! That is pretty epic
@@crazedjester oh yeah! I’m telling you, if you stomp around the Irish sea area you get a massive crapton of shipping!!
Oh also one final note: in order to keep your boat from sticking out of the water, have an engineer go to the depth keeping station and he’ll handle it. That’s more for when you have two engineers though
I didn't think the series would be back so soon! Nice.
Any chance you'd do a tutorial video?
Yeah I think I might just make one here pretty soon
Watched and Liked 👍
Aaand we’re back! Excited for future eps

Thank you Colin! I will certainly keep all of these in mind as we progress through the campaign and the allies research better technology

A little alternate history here haha. They are pretty valuable and help early on
I always give out food to the boys in the lifeboats, any chance I get to.
love the intros
Nice work
Thank you Arthur!

Loving these suggestions DePow! Ill be sure to explain things a little better in the upcoming episodes. Thank you!
Great 👍 episode 😊
Thank you Kh!
Wow man I’m glad i found you good story.
Thanks so much Shadowfax

Thanks so much Temir! I would love to play really popular games and I plan to do so in the near future with whats coming out soon.
ok I gotta admit, taking the English channel out is ballsy... kinda hoping you get sunk ;) now to watch!
and then you changed your mind lol nvm
Great start, now for me to catch up! Do you run any mods at all in these series?
Thanks so much Parkera. I don't currently use any mods
Textbook perfect first strike. Now it’s time to make like a tree and get the fuck outta there
Great episode! Wich difficulty settings did you choose for combat and crew management?
Hardest for combat and medium for crew

Ok - but that doesn't negate the request of "attrition of ships has an effect" kind of thing.
Iw as looking forward to you doing the U48 from tutorial , But still good.
How do you use free cam so I can watch ships sink?
press "n"
Who do you have manning the attack periscope durning all this carnage?
The captain most of the time
looks like a fun game, but hows the replayability?

This game suck.
yeah you might not like it
