can you update the bios with the cpu installed in the motherboard or does it need to be by-itself

Hey, thanks to *YOU* I was able to flash the BIOS on my ASRock motherboard without bricking it. 🤗
I also found out (btw) what ASRock's 'Auto OC' setting is called: "BFB (for 'Base Frequency Boost') Technology." (In case anyone else asks.)

I got it done on my msi mpg x670e carbon wifi and it worked just like it thanks!
Btw you can just buy a cheap 3 dollar usb stick just make sure it is fat32

That was fantastic. The user guide for the motherboard (pg22) looks like it suggests a different USB port for the Flash Bios, i had tried this and it did nothing. Tried your suggestion and it worked perfectly. thank you!

This video will come in handy when I get the remainder of my parts for my 7900x3D build (X670E version but I assume its a similar process, its the TUF X670E model). Been looking for videos or instructions like this! Thank you, I feel more comfortable updating my motherboard whenever it comes before budling my second ever PC build. Just wanted to confirm does the NVME ssd need to be in or is that all within the motherboard regarding bios updates?
the nvme isn't needed for the bios update you can leave it in though

you can try it, sometimes it works, if it doesn't you know what you will need to do
So my board is behaving a little differently, the dragon LED didn't light up and the bios light has been flashing steadily. I'm also using a 1000w psu with this.

Did you use clear cmos button or take out the cmos battery?Because ive tried both and then put the usb in then use bios flash button but it still flashes forever

Did my Asus Z790 Rog Strix yesterday and there's something unnerving about not being able to monitor on screen, just how far or if the flash-back has worked. Great video👍🏼

When i press the bios flash button everything turns on but the msi dragon logo does not.Does this mean i have fully bricked it?
not necessarily, could be a short somewhere if it is mounted in a case

But I have a related question if I may - I have a X570S Carbon Max WiFi and it is on BIOS 7D52v13 / 2022-05-19. There are 2 subsequent Updates, those being:
7D52v14
2022-09-16
and,
7D52v151(Beta version)
2023-03-03
In your leaned opinion, should I "Update", and if so, which one.
FYI, the PC is running fine with no issues that I am aware of.

if the system is running well i would leave it unless there is a security reason to do so which at present i am not aware of any, so leave it alone is my advice, but update to the non beta if you want to update, the beta version will become version 15 when it is ready

I was looking at this board rear io and noticed hdmi and display port port...and it cames to my mind that the zen4 cpu like the 7950x has integrated graphic. So, I'm wondering how well that work with the integrated for display only while the 6800xt is crunching. This could save me from installign a dumb video card just to display something when my main card is busy... I think that this is called hybrid graphic.
yes that is right you can enable hybrid graphics in the bios

Just letting you know, that I flashed my Bios to the latest version, but eversince I did it, my motherboard cannot use the Bluetooth Function anymore. I have an MSI Pro B650M-A Motherboard. Before the BIOS Update, everything worked perfectly fine. But now it doesn't anymore.

I bought the same mainboard and followed your tutorial to flash the bios. It seems like it worked, the flash button blinked for about 5-6 minutes, but the dragon logo leds did not turn on during the whole process... could this mean the board is broken?

Is there any way to install linux on this motherboard? I tried archi linux which failed with (err -19) and ubuntu fresh lts which just left me with black screen.
turning off tpm and secure boot should allow it
@@mikesunboxing there is no such a thing as tmp on msi mpg b650 carbon wi-fi motherboard. A-xmp perhaps you did mean, well that is turned on and secure boot, obv, been disabled. Still I am unable to boot any linux distros. For example arch linux returns next error:
hub doesn't have any ports (err -19)
Ubunt, on the other hand, been such user friendly distro that it didn't even show it self, living with simply black screen.
To be fair I am trying to test audio of this msi abomination, since on windows 10 and 11 it just popping and cracking before completely fading away.
My apologies for being overwhelming here but since you are the person who might still have that, so far, terrible motheboard. If you do not might helping me out I would really appreciate that but not with paypal, since this service has been blocked in my country.

we just ordered this today. do you really have to do this get the computer to boot
depends what CPU you are using, but i would recommend a bios update anyway because of how bad memory support is on these boards
if it does get messed up during update can you do the flashback button thing with the cpu and memory installed or do you have to take it all apart and only do motherboard@@mikesunboxing
@@bartbaker-fuchser7456 you can do it at any time, as i explained in the beginning the bare board is far easier to diagnose than a built system

yes it is especially if you need more PCIe lanes

possible as long as it flashed the led during that time

My pro B650m-a has a flashback button but nothing showing where the usb goes…
should be shown on the metal IO shield, if not it will likely be the one above the HDMI port, basically the closest one
