    Have a set of these myself and touch wood going strong and good cutting heads too as mine have not yet dulled at all. Touch wood also been lucky as still on my first pilot drill bit, and space in the case for extra bits if you pick them up individually 👍🏻. Also cool springy supports where you clip back in your hole saw blades when not in use

    I decided to get this set after the pilot drill on the standard arbour constantly comes loose, after trying to tighten it for the last time, the flat blade screwdriver slipped and tore my thumb open. Another thing is the hole saws are alway getting stuck on there, usually the bigger sizes, this set is brilliant. The case won awards on its own.

    I've been using these for 5 or 6 years. Bought them individually though, have only had to replace my 25 - can't remember what I dulled it on. Have used them for timber (including worktop for cable ports), downlights and fans in plasterboard, glands in plastic and steel enclosures

      we use the bosch hole saws for nearly every thing, plaster board, OSB, all kinds of metal, sometimes brick (not so good). We also cut holes in steel beams (10-15mm massiv steel) and that works very well with lubrication.

    We use this system since 2015. It is really good. Especially on construction sites where you change the size every few minutes. The only problem we have with this sets sold in Germany is that there are so much useless dimensions. How needs 19mm, 38mm or 44mm. Here we need 20mm, 32mm, 35mm and 40mm.

    Great idea, but I think it could be improved upon. Having seen photos of the set, each hole saw has it's own shank which fits in the quick release mechanism. Would it not be better to have the same mechanism with one shank where the actual saw screws on to the shank? If you wanted to remove the piece inside the saw you would do exactly what Matt has done.
    I know some folk will reply and say the this is for changing the hole saws quickly, but what about the cost implication, cost of bog standard hole saws versus these. I'd buy two shanks if I wanted to work quicker.

      Hi. As always thanks for talking the time to comment... all good points... we are massive fans of the Armeg range of hole saws th-cam.com/video/ZO41qOs1fj0/w-d-xo.html

    Can you remove the black centrepiece from the hole saw or is it all attached? My 44mm is worn and need to change it. I'm wondering if I can reuse the black piece.

    These are great sets however one of my pilot bits snapped very early on it's life. Second one is still going strong though.

      Can you use any appropriate length drill bit or is it a proprietary bit that is required for this?

    • @zedman442
      @zedman442 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@curiousjoe395 it’s a hex shank so you can just get any hex shank drill bit.

  • @JohnSmith-ws7fq

    Did you experience the pilot bit wobbling in the arbour? A review of the product on Amazon states this which puts me off.

    • @peterrolex2349
      @peterrolex2349 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The pilot bit is wobbly in the arbour.
      Drilling the Yale lock, in an expensive “performance” front door with 5mm (very) thick veneer. I worried this might allow the holesaw to wobble erratically and create a poor quality hole.
      Very Lucky I tried it out on the Letter box slot.
      It made a horrible, chewed up entrance. So I tried again using a rock solid Pillar drill. Same appalling hole. This would have ruined the door completely had I not used the letterbox slot effectively as “scrap”.
      Went And bought a classic “Starrett” 2 pin arbour, where the pilot drill is held like rock with a grub screw ..... perfect hole even by hand!
      This is a design weakness, convenience over quality!
      Got a replacement ... same problem. Pilot drill spec. 7.15mm diam. 6.35mm hex. Actual dimensions are 7.12mm and 6.23mm enough to make this toll pointless.
      OK I will ask Bosch to replace again and see if it was just a two time product quality issue!

      @@peterrolex2349 Thanks for your feedback. Ended up choosing Starrett also and can't complain.

    Forget the comment about cost, just checked out the cost of a 20mm Bosch hole saw using this system £6.59
    20mm Starrett £8.39 but UK made using the old method.

    • @GSHElectrical
      @GSHElectrical  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @craigemmott4976
      @craigemmott4976 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GSH Electrical, yeah I think they retail around that price.
      All my hole saws are Starrett, just found out they also produce a quick release system. The plus side to theirs, you can use other manufacturers hole saws. Guess Bosch are just protecting their own interests.

    • @JohnSmith-ws7fq
      @JohnSmith-ws7fq 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@craigemmott4976 Not a great fan of the brand lock-in, and Bosch's system won't allow you to set one holesaw inside another if you need to enlarge a hole in a pinch. The Starratt Ulti-mate looks more versatile by comparison, but the adaptors also look like they would seize onto the saws and be a pain to undo?
