    If using non-quick release holesaws wrap a small cut of 2.5 copper wire between the arbor and holesaw being attached. It makes it far easier to remove the holesaw after use

    Guess I see my next purchase! I love the look of this, just wondering how robust they are though and how long they would last, that would be the main concern for me. Remember last time trying to remove the arbour from my 20mm holesaw, required some water pliers and a vice!

    I have purchased a few of these and they seem good so far.
    Only thing is on the smaller sizes the arbour bit is wider than the hole saw so no good using with an extension.
    Also I purchased a 127mm mandrex hole saw and when I was using it in my combi drill it kept unwinding off the thread as my drill has a brake on it. I put some lock thread on it and it seems to have sorted it now though

    Tut-tut on not using PPE though Gaz. I've ended up with industrial deafness in the left ear (at the 2.5khz range) due to drill use. 😭

    I’ve had the Bosch version of these & used them for over 10 years. The quick release collar on the mandrel constantly sticks as it fills up with dust. Anyone had similar experience with mandrex?

    • @lukesmith8792
      @lukesmith8792 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's the reason why I've never bought them altho they don't stick to badly I'd rather stick with the push pin harbors. And if you cut thro plaster board slowly with a holesaw you can get the cut out to fall out with it using a screwdriver or dismantling the holesaw, just spin the drill a couple of times and the cut out should fall straight out

  • @cj-rb8fz
    @cj-rb8fz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Busch have done a quick release one for ages, you just pull back on the arbour part and hole saw just lifts out , the drill bit also is quick release in same way

    Would you get in touch with a company caller super rod I believe they are in partnership with Klein tools and they have one just like it if like to see them reviewed next to each other, I was using Bosch HSS quick release ones for years, would I be able to dismantle them into this sort of system?

    Mandrax is an illegal drug in South Africa. Mandrax is a small tablet varying in colour that is highly addictive. Mandrax slows down the central Nervous System and has a sedative effect. The tablet is crushed, mixed with dagga and smoked through a pipe or broken bottleneck known as a ‘white pipe’. Mandrax can also be swallowed whole or injected. I have had a few electricians working around me that have smoked the "white pipe".

    Tried the Bosch quick realise hole saws but found the pilot drills would never fit tightly in the arbour, so they wobbled and gave a poor quality result. Out of curiosity, how easy is it to remove the adapter from the holes saw when the hole saw is no longer sharp and needs to be replaced?

    • @efixx
      @efixx  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty much the same as getting one off a non-pinned (smaller) starrett arbor. However, the Mandrex adaptors have a hex form so you can get a spanner on.

      efixx excellent. So where's my credit card? 😀

    • @iggifer
      @iggifer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MyNameWasTecho I have the same problem with the Bosch holesaws, the pilot bit wobbles and you end up with an oval hole before you've even really started with the holesaw. I've found drilling the hole with just the arbor & pilot bit until you're through the material then adding the holesaw and finishing the hole seems to give the best results - I think it might reduce any slop in the arbor. That being said, for metal I now exclusively use the Armeg Acceler8 holesaws and I use the Super Rod Duoxim Arborfor downlight. It lets you fit two holesaws and the pins push up and pull down into the holes, rather than twisting. Little piece of CPC twisted under the thread stops it ever locking on (or copperslip if you're posh)

    are these compatible with Bosch progressor holesaws? ex: could I plonk a mandrex adapter onto a Bosch QR arbour?

    • @iggifer
      @iggifer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      doesn't look like it. The Bosch holesaws have a the recessed ring that catches in the arbor in a different place. On the Bosch it's very close to the bottom, on the Mandrex it's about halfway up. And the mandrex hex piece looks much longer.
