I've been teaching my first pole course and today I'm putting together a plan for my third class, although I'm not teaching them a routine because of lack of resources, I've been looking at a lot of beginner routines on youtube for inspiration and I have to say, this has been the best so far. Amazing musicality and you've taught the techniques well. good on you.
My instructor always says 'you need something for the pole to stick too' find a friendly class and go for it, I did and it's the most excited about excercise I have ever been. so so fun :)
this is BEAUTIFUL! l want to take classes to gain confidence from the hurt my husband caused.... the girl on the right reminds me of me.. wish i had the money but now its my motivation! :) great job ladies!
It depends on your own body, really. Don't do yourself a disservice and think "I must reach "this point" in "x" amount of time!!" In my case I was climbing to the top of the pole (my particular studio has 16ft poles) within three months. It's taken me 9 months to get my shoulder mount. I'm still around 170 pounds. I've put on a lot of muscles. I see more tone and I feel significantly stronger now! Everyone progresses at their own pace, though! :)
Flexibility is sometimes you can teach yourself. I started at 20 and you can do it girl ! Go for it, as my trainer says you are the boss of your body and you can do anything you want with it :D
yeah same here... 190 pounds, after 3 months of exercising 8 pounds less :) and the body is changing. Skin gets better, you're much more stronger... and it feels great :) and reaction of your boyfriend when he sees you... priceless :) it's really worth it!
Hi :) I really enjoyed the dance it was very pretty. I would really like to learn this but idk if there is a certain body type u gotta have to learn to pole dance.
Love it girls well done :) even though for some reason my eye always seemed to be on the girl nearest the camera.. did you make this up by any chance?? brilliant way to let people learn this just by watching it a few times.. i have been pole dancing for 4 months now and i would'nt say im brilliant but i know what makes a good routine and you got that. the other girl nees to keep up a little though but still good :) x
Hey there :) I've been poledancing for 3 months now, and I thought the same before I started, but you know what? I don't think you'll feel awkward at all :) I didn't. I'm not much of a dancer, and never a really good athlet (pardon my english) But it's really alot of fun, and you'll get to know your body way better and feel better about yourself :) asking me? Do it! Wont harm nobody to try :)
The best pole to buy is an x-pole x-pert...they're a bit expensive but you'll have it for life and they're super safe. Plus you can change them to spinning or static mode depending on what your doing :) x
Omfg, Don't let that discourage you!! You should try it. I've seen lots of bigger girls in my classes, and they keep up, if not do better then everyone else!
wow ur amazing i just started pole dancing and i have bruises all over my legs what should i do to prevent it :( i look like somebody beat the hell out of me
If you look for local places that make poles in your city you don't have to pay for shipping (also its easier to get a warranty on the pole) I just bought one (40mm) for $300 most dance studios use 45-50 mm but I hear that most schools are down sizing to 40 or even 35 If you have smaller hands the smaller pole will be easier for you I prefer smaller poles to bigger ones. Also think about getting a solid pole not a hollow one they are heavier to set up but wont warp or bend. :) happy dancing
HELLO! HOW R U LADY'S DOING? :-) WELL, I JUST WANT 2 SAY THAT U GUYS R SOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING! :D WOW, THE "BOTH" OF U R AMAZING! U GUYS SHOULD TAKE UR SHOW ON THE ROAD. I THINK U LADY'S HAVE A LOT OF TALENT. :-) HAVE U LADY'S EVER ENTER A "POLE DANCING COMPETITION" BEFORE? BECAUSE I THINK U LADY'S WOULD WIN! :) I'M TELLING U THE TRUTH YOUR THAT GOOD! U LADY'S SHOULD ENTER A COMPETITION NOW! :-) GOOD LUCK LADY'S! XOXOXOXOXO, Arelis, (A New Fan) :-)
nahhh you won't I had people tell me I was too "fat" and ended up losing almost 20 lbs dancing and then I was laughing in their faces as I was scooping up the cash off the stage. Go for it!!!
I really want to try this. I'm a cheerleader and i dance so i have some flexibility. Is there a age limit like when you canstart learning or is it something any age can try?
@ZeusDeusEx That's your best shot? What you have is a lack of understanding and experience and you shouldn't judge others by your limitations. While it's true that you sometimes get so busy looking at the individual brushstrokes that you can forget you're looking at the "Mona Lisa" it doesn't happen all the time. There is an old dance saying "If you have a really good Tango with a woman, you should marry her afterwards". If you can understand this, you will see pole dancing is quite mild.
very good video for showing us a "beginner" level. I've seen a lot of instructors do beginner levels and it sucks a lot and it isn't interesting at all...made it boring.
I know I am be responding to this late... but try a floor-work or exotic dance focused class first. Become comfortable with that flow and movement and then try a pole class.
I started at 185 pounds. I'm 5'8". I'm now 165 pounds (still 5'8" though. ;3) Worth it. Find a studio (A GOOD ONE) and go for it. Whats the worst that can happen?

I really hate how pole dancing has the "stripper" stigma attached to it. This really is an art form. Absolutely beautiful :)
