@Altenew I have been following this tool while you were spending time & money to get it perfect. What many commenters on here don’t realize is all our stamp/craft companies have to pay a hefty price for prototypes upfront & again upfront when they get the final product to sell. I thank you for all the time that has gone into a tool to make stamping easier for so many. This isn’t anymore pricey than the Misti. I will be investing in one for myself for techniques & stamps that the Misti & other platforms miss the mark. Great job Lydia on this video.
For what techniques specifically do you think the Stamping Wheel will work better than the MISTI or other stamping platforms? I’m on the fence right now, but I am thinking about adding it to my gift/wishlist I give my kids and husband for the year. To be forthright, I create a list with links for possible present ideas in a variety of price points. I get lovely surprises and no one stresses about giving me the right gift. Not everyone feels confident in their ability to pick gifts.
@@rtd1791 I love layering stamps & having a wheel you can flip over will allow me to do more than one at a time. Layer 1 on 1 side & next layer on the flip side. You can’t do that with the misti. I see being able to do 4 at one time verses one at a time on the misti. The other multiple card panels at a time.
@@rtd1791 My first impression is that this will be a game changer for using Turnabout stamps, wreath building, and mass-producing images that use layered stamps. I love my Misti, and have used it on every card I've made since buying it, and before seeing this new tool, I could never have imagined that I needed another. But when I'm mass-producing Christmas cards with layered stamps, my Misti doesn't have enough corners to fit the cardstock in reliably for all the layers, nor are there good options to hold die cuts in place, if you choose to stamp multiple die cuts using the negative space for placement. I also have a lot of background stamps, besides the normal Turnabout ones, that I think will be cool to rotate and stamp multiple times. I feel like this will also be great for stamping in tight spaces because I won't need the extra space to flip a door open. And if it works as well holding stencils in place as I've seen in the videos, then I'll be doing a happy dance because layering stencils are my jam.
I'm glad I re-watched this. I received my stamp wheel the other day. I am so glad that I pre-ordered it. What a genius idea. The polymer surface is just perfect. Thank you Altenew!
I’ve been excited about this product since I saw a couple videos featuring it from people who attended Creativation. When I saw that it was available for pre-order, I jumped on it. I can’t wait to finally have it in my hands. I do hope that at some point you sell a nice neoprene zippered pouch to store it in. Perhaps it can feature your beautiful florals!!
Congratulations on such a simple but really effective product. It's earnt a place in my craft room. Top tip please sell the stamp plate sepately. Multiple plates for multiple stamps will make for more effective stamping when batch making complicated and intricate designs.
This is definitely on my wishlist!! Making multiple would go so quickly and I love that you can use it for stenciling. Thanks Altenew for this amazing tool.
I bought my stampwheel two days ago and what a game changer!!!!!!! Super quality product worth every penny! No hinges to fight with and the lock in place feature is spot on! I have never been disappointed with an Altenew product. Thank you for always being a top notch company with amazing products. No I am not affiliated with the company in anyway. I’m just a crafter and artist that appreciates a product that will make my creating process easier and more professional. Thank you again!
Just received my Stamping Wheel and I LOVE IT already!!! Thank you Altenew for creating this amazing tool!! I really needed something like this!!! Even the box it came in is BEAUTIFUL!!!! ❤
I've been looking for a product that holds my paper without using tape while stenciling. Plus stamping layering stamps and a wreath builder! Im in heaven! Bought it! THKS ALTENEW
I’m having trouble getting complete stamping in the corner areas when I use large scale stamps. I tried rolling a brayed over it-that helped a little but even after several tries I still couldn’t get the ink to transfer-
I think the price point is fair considering all the things you can do with this tool. Altenew makes quality creative products, I have never been disappointed with this company.
Yes! And it's an investment - just a one-time purchase that will actually help you by doing more and using less of the other materials such as tapes, magnets, etc.
I think this would have been a better value for $100 if it had been 12x12. Are the plans to offer a 12x12? I’m also wondering if a permanent grid beneath the photopolymer base stamp would be helpful for stamp alignment?
You could just add clear graph acetate. Easy enough to come by. I bet there will be more iterations down the line that will have user suggested additions/changes. That’s what happened with the MISTI.
I saw this introduced in an email and was pretty excited about a new crafty tool. So I preordered! It arrived in the mail today and it was very clear on how to use it but I started to wonder what I could use it for in a unique manner. The Mirrored Stamping looks SO EASY to do. Way more easy to do than if I were using my MISTI. Especially since that sticky grid element is essentially a GIANT stamp. I am in love with a stamping tool....my poor husband lol! And thanks for the note on the protective sheet on the wheel - I didn't see that and had adhered my enamel dots to it. Ooops!! lol
I would be curious to try this new platform, I have a couple others and they work well, but still struggled with the layering stamps (although they helped a lot), this is nice because you are able to rotate the wheel. Haven't completely decided on this but what I see so far has upped the game on stamping platforms. Seems to be well thought out.
I read about the the stampwheel in one of the articles on Altenew somewhere.... I was curious and looked for my info on line in a few searches. Once I found what I was looking for, I was sold and then couldn't wait for the release date. I pre-ordered the night it was available and used my points to take off some of the cost. I think it will be so worth having! No more buying magnets because they hit each other and broke into little sharp pieces, no more replacing the sticky pads or ruining paper because they are too sticky to start out with, no more sprays to hold down stencils, and the list goes on. When you consider all of the other items you have to constantly buy (tape, spray) or replace, due to normal upkeep, I think the price is okay. Like I said, I used my points to lessen the cost, but I am glad I bought it and will be happy to get to use it and benefit from all the awesomeness it seems to behold. 😊😊😊😊😊
This is an interesting tool, but what size is that sticky mat ( working surface) in inches, please? Also, will that sticky mat need to be replaced at some point in time? If so then how much is the replacement sticky mat? Thank you
The base is 7.5" x 7.5". You'll be able to use the sticky mat for a long time. If you feel like it's losing the stickiness, you can always wash it with water - or the same way you clean your stamps as it is made of high-quality photopolymer 😄
Nice idea, but a little pricey at $99. How long before the sticky mat needs to be replaced and what will that cost? I wouldn't buy it right now. I think they will make some improvements to it as time goes on and crafters start using the product and giving feedback.
I'm not affiliated with Altenew in anyway, nor do I own one, but the sticky mat is made out of photopolymer. So, you would wash it, just like you wash a stamp when it doesn't want to stick to a block or your stamp positioner anymore and it should get sticky again. It's not like the other sticky mats on the market that have adhesive on them.
Great new tool. Can I ask why there is such a large price difference between pricing on your site for pre-orders at $140 and prices on other craft sites at $100? Have there been changes to the tool for the second pre-order?
Those sticky dots will not stay on a long time and it might help to have something preprinted at the corners ie a,b,c, d or 1,,2,3and 4? I also think a grid of some sort might be helpful when you use your rubber stamps for aligning them easier. It’s a bit to pricey for me!
I was thinking I would just engrave marks in the corners and on the top point. You could do it with a rotary tool and an engraving tip. I also think rubbing some black paint in the etched lines would be helpful. I need greater contrast then simply engraved lines offer.
We will be releasing an add-on "L" guide for different paper sizes so you may align your papers at the center. We will share more hacks and tips to use the stampwheel on the official release date on March 22nd.
Thanks for the video, pretty informative and I can see the advantages of one tool for so many things. However, like so many other crafters, I have on hand already all the other tools, such as the Misti, adhesive spray, sticky mats, etc. and I can’t simple justify the purchase at the current price point. Nevertheless, happy for those that can afford it.
I’m surprised that any stamping tool would not have a good grid for aligning paper and/or stamps. It would be good to have a visible grid on the Stage and/or the Sticky Mat. It would also be good to have an engraved number/side for all 16 positions on the Flip Plate (e.g., 1F(ront) and 1B(ack) to 16 F and 16 B). Noticed in Altenew video that enamel dots were put on flip plate to mark positions. Tool seems to be designed mainly for photopolymer stamps. I have many photopolymer, cling mounted rubber stamps and unmounted rubber stamps. I put my unmounted rubber stamps on a set of blocks that have Tack’N Peel. Would be useful to have an extra Flip Plate with square piece of material like the Tack’N Peel on both sides for using unmounted rubber stamps.
You'll be able to use the sticky mat for a long time. If you feel like it's losing the stickiness, you can always wash it with water - or the same way you clean your stamps as it is made of high-quality photopolymer 😄
@@Altenew thanks . I ordered the wheel and as I’ve just had a total right shoulder replacement I won’t be able to play for a couple months as I’m right handed. But looking forward to it. Thank you
I think this tool is a great addition to a craft room but it is too pricey for me. I’ll wait til the price hopefully comes down. I will make do with the positioner I have.
It’s interesting, but I have a couple of questions???? Do you need to put the plastic back on the sticky mat to help keep it sticky and how long does the sticky last as I make a lot of cards and I don’t want to have to keep on buying the sticky pads????:) also is there a pad if you are using red rubber stamps??? Last question how do you clean the ink off the mat??? Tfs God Bless:)?
Good for you in making this new tool!! It looks great. It will be a while before I can afford one, but great job! It seems to have a LOT of great features!! I'm glad to see stampers finally have another alternative to the MISTI. Nothing against the MISTI, it's a great product, but I refuse to support the owner of that company because of how vile and abusive she was toward competitors (aka Tim Holtz's platform), content creators that used the other alternatives (the TH one), and even DIYers that showed how to use CD cases, ect. as stamping positioners. From what I had seen and read, it wasn't even her original idea to begin with.
If I have to pay $100 for something like this, I should not also have to start sticking little enamel dots on it to mark my places. That should have been done before I gave you my money. There's no reason that couldn't have been printed on that wheel. Why is this so expensive? Everyone complained about the price of the MISTI and then this comes out at $100 price point? This is ridiculous! Nothing about this is worth more than about $40.
Too expensive for even me who monthly spends $200 or more on craft supplies. It would be over $200 plus duty for those of us in Canada. Can see too many shortcomings in its present iteration. Might consider one if changes are made to improve it.

Yeah sadly, I’m in no position to afford one at this time. I will have to stick with Gina Ks wreath builder template. This does look really cool though!
Same here. It might be useful but I can create the same effects for much less. It looks well made but there’s nothing here that justifies the price. And April Fools Day is still a month away
I’m not sure why they didn’t incorporate etching marks for the corners and top. Putting enamel dots to mark these? Etching markers in the flip plate would have been a better design.
Video runs much too quickly for a beginner to keep up and take in, I bought the Stampwheel luckily there are other Videos on TH-cam that explain the system much better, I'll like it when I have had practice.
I’m sorry, but I won’t be buying one. Over priced for most people. I’ll stick to my regular stamp positioners. Combined, they cost a fraction of your price for this.
It is more than I was hoping it would be but being able to stencil without tape would be amazing! The time savings and not accidentally tearing the paper may sell me.
This does the work of like 7 other tools. Of course it costs more. I can’t wait to get mine and replace other tools that don’t work half as well as this one seems to.
Okay so you bought this very expensive tool only to add your own enamel dots to tell you where the sides are and the top of the wheel? Does not make sense!

Yes, but since red rubber stamps are a bit thicker, the plate would not be as fitted on to the stage. Removing the sticky mat may help.
