12:28 adding to Nick's point here, through the vast majority of Cuba's communist government, they have been the sugar baby of first the USSR, adn then Venezuela, and despite getting millions if not billions in aid and beneficial trade deals...Cuba still failed to capitalize on that extra funding and just wasted it on either corruption or bare minimum welfare programs and once the outside money dried up, THAT is what is causing the hardship, not the sanctions.
They were never self-sufficient in the first place and its finally showing.

Hey Terry, just wanted to let you know, I also am an allergy sufferer who just went to the doctor! If you’re not already taking Claritin, if you can, take one every day. Especially for year round allergies like me, I take that and singulair year round. But I too am getting my ass kicked by seasonal allergies currently and my doctor told me to get UNISOM! But not the diplehydramine or whatever, it has to be the doxycycline, the sleep tabs. Take them at night when your allergies are bad and you will wake up feeling WAY better! I was super surprised, I’ve been taking them a week or so now and THEY WORK ❤

Something to note about the Philippines during the time of the Spanish-American war is that Spain had kept it in perpetual poverty and extreme class based division. Most of the thriving per-spanish culture was destroyed and there was no infrastructure for self-sufficiency. The reason the Americans "bought" the Philippines was to take away any claim Spain might have on them and the end goal was always to have them be an independent nation. The rebels didn't accept this and fought back, but the American-Philippine war mostly ended when the people stopped supporting the rebels due to the Americans bringing in materials and beginning to rebuild civilization on the islands. by the 1930's the plans were already in place for Philippine independence, they were geven going to be given the USS drum from one of Nick's other videos.
Imperial Japan attacked before that could happen though. The tight integration between American and Philipino forces was the result of years of working to modernize the islands.

So if you’re ever in Indianapolis you should check out a bar called the slippery noodle inn. All kinds of history there. It was opened in 1850 and has been a bar the whole time. It was a weigh station for the Underground Railroad, a speak easy during prohibition when John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson used it as a hideout and they did target practice in the stable which is now where they host open mic night. There’s still slugs embedded in the wall from their target practice. It was a brothel all the way up to 1953 when a man stabbed a man and his fiancée to death he walked downstairs stabbed the knife into the bar top and walked out, thus ending the brothel’s run. And in 2015 the surviving members of the Blues Brothers celebrated the 35th anniversary of the movie there. Love the history videos sir.

Love Mel Brooks, while it is Comedy not to be taken too seriously you should do a few of his comedy history films. History of the World Part One, I first watched in history class in high school (Not recommended today but great movie for your online stuff). Also would recommend To Be or Not to Be, that he does with his real life wife set in WWII Poland. It is based closely to a post war comedy movie that failed by being too soon. Like the guy who did the first version Mel fought in the war and being a Jew himself he has often said he will make fun of the Nazis as often as he can. Less historical, period films is in his list as well. Young Frankenstein (Filmed in B&W), Robin Hood Men in Tights, Silent Movie (Filmed with only one word spoken), 12 Chairs (Post Russian Tsar search to recover family riches), Blazing Saddles (Set in the old West?) and I'm sure there are more. Perhaps you could do a monthly movie night review with a historical theme. Maybe even alternate with a serious film like TNT's Rough Riders or Ironclads and comedies that are grounded in a historical theme like Top Secret (cold war/WWII spoof) or the Brooksfilms stuff I mentioned. I think it would be fun weekly but you have a lot to cover already. If you do rough riders I advise include the commentary, it will amaze you how well things came together for the film, like getting access to 2 guns that were used when only 6 were made or finding a Hollywood cash of the riffles from an Actor's old militia unit. Also a TX filming site that matched the terrain within inches of the San Juan Heights. Don't want you go full movie reactor but one or two a month would be very cool and educational. There are a just few movies I'd like to hear you trash too, like the recent Napoleon film. Tip on civil war films they love to put calvary rank on officers incorrectly and in glory the red sashes should have been blue. Sorry for going long but I think this would be great content you could do.

Japan also was kinda forced into attacking Pearl Harbor by the US because they wanted to take the Philippines but they knew the US would send a counterattack. So they launched a pre-emptive strike which may or may not have been made worse by the fact that only five US ships in the Pacific Theater were not currently on station at Pearl Harbor at the time... something which may have been done intentionally to goad the Japanese into attacking when they did.
