    For someone who is wary of undervolting in the bios this is a great way for a novice user to limit heat and extend battery life. Never liked the feel of laptops getting so hot it caused concern! Thanks for sharing Mike and Kath 🐈👍

      Good point! and yes this is fully aimed at novices or those that just want a quick fix

    I think this programme stops the cpu boost, which you can also do in power settings by setting the cpu to use a max of 99%. Which also works on a normal pc. Drops temps by alot, which might be handy in those warm summer months.

    Camomile is a GREAT app for beginners. But it has a few caveats I found.
    - It does not read the CPU temperature correctly compared to HWInfo64 in Package Mode, which is the correct temperature to use. The package temperature is from what I see much warmer than Camomile in Highest mode. In my case the CPU is around 68 degrees with Camomile saying 61-63.
    - It also doesn't seem to do much more than cap the CPU speed (in my case it will not allow the laptop to go above 2,04GHz out of 2,3GHz). Nothing you can't do with the Windows processor percentage limits manually.

      I don't touch Win11 but in Win10 you can Cap the CPU by adjusting Maximum power state % in Edit power plan > Change advance power settings.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  วันที่ผ่านมา

      yeah but this can do it with one click, rather than finding and opening the power profile and then selecting the settings and applying them.
      much easier to be able to toggle on of off.
      the temps can be changed in the settings to read package, average or hottest core if that helps

    Thanks Mike. Testing the app on my AMD Ryzen 9 5950X with a Radeon RX 7800XT, and 32GB RAM. Idle with cooling off running about 50C with cooling on running around 37C. Love this App so far.🥰

    Don't forget that Windows has different "performance" options under Power Plans. AMD Adrenalin also has an assortment of options for reducing power if that is what you want.

    Thanks Mike, Testing it now, 5800x with AMD Prism Cooler, 7 CT140 Fans (3 intake front, 3 exhaust Top, 1 exhaust Back)
    Before program MSI center giving high to low 50s idle, now idle high 30s to low 40s.
    what does it actually do to the cpu?
    does it help anything for GPU or SSDs?
    I do want to get a better CPU cooler then the Prism, but want to stay with thermaltake, I am leaning towards the Astria 400., unless they come out with 120MM AIO with LCD.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      the program basically reduces boost and clock speeds it is really basic stuff that you can do in the bios or windows power management settings, this is a lot quicker and easier.
      astria 400 looks good but i feel it is not worth the money at the launch price when there is such hot competition from the freezer 36 and the thermalright peerless range

    Hi Mike this looks like a very simplified version of throttlestop which I use on one of my PC's that has a strange motherboard when it has the intel 8700 CPU installed it thermal throttles when any app is opened on just one core. The same CPU in another board runs absolutely fine I have even put an AIO on the troublesome board but without throttlestop it still thermal throttles. Wondering what you think regarding the thermal throttling Rog Strix B360 issue I have and also would it be worth me trying out this Camomile App or just stick with Throttlestop.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      throttlestop is a much more granular way of doing the same thing and requires a lot of trial and error to get the settings dialed in right. Camomile is on or off and is quite aggressively reducing the CPUs performance and therefore heat, so i would stick with throttlestop if that is working ok for you.
      but feel free to backup your throttlestop settings, remove it and try camomile

    Interesting tool, thankyou for this as I usually tweak the voltages down a bit manually with throttle stop - most people dont know that manufacturers always overvolt a bit because of the silicon lottery, some will undervolt a fair bit and some wont so they always set a voltage that works with that particular SKU

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  วันที่ผ่านมา

      yeah i think i used throttle stop before

    I wonder what it's setting, for one thing, cooling mode seems to disable turbo.
    Another way to go quieter, save energy, but not necessarily cooler, is to set the Power management system cooling policy to Passive (which prioritises reducing CPU power before increasing fans) instead of Active

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      yeah i used the passive mode on an old media centre pc it worked quite well

      It will depend on the cpu you are using , if will likely be slower but speed is not the goal with this app, it is focused on energy saving and massively reducing temperatures

    i just tried it out of curiosity lol with a ryzen 5 7600
    used cinebench r23 10 min run
    run 1 no app it hit just over 14k points at a temp of 66`
    run 2 with app installed it hit 10678 points with a max temp of 44`
    deffo works but turnt my cpu into a 9th gen intel chip lol
