      🇬🇧 How wonderful!
It evoked memories of my childhood spent, up until I was 11 yrs living ( with my parents & grandparents) in a huge estate house.
I vividly remember Autumn & late afternoons, listening to wood pigeons, well aged Bonfires burning up garden refuse & sweet blue smoke curling upwards.
It's that sound of crackling burning bonfires, the blue smoke & the wooting of the wood pigeons.
My Granny & I would be in one of the old sheds, wrapping Cox's & Russet British Apples ( deliciously wine-y & pearis😅h) in squares of blue tissue paper, then pack away in boxes, to be eaten at Christmas.
There's something decidedly creepy about these old behemoth houses on estates, sandwiched between copses, little woods & old tree plantations.
While wandering & exploring id find some strange things half hidden or broken down in thickets & derelict old structures, old potting sheds or small broken down workers cottages.
This story had me miles away, back there in those country woods & the seasonal activities on the land.
It was the smell I recall most, a delicious, fruity, oak dented smoke, the mild breeze wafting through carrying other country smells
Never smelled anything like it since.
It's sad when old estates get broken up, a deep poignant regret of not being viable anymore & got to keep in with modern trends.
      So so sad.
Anyway Mr Jasper, a wonderful rendition of this story!
You certainly conjured up some memories for this old girl!
Id even dare to say, your voice has the quality of that delicious curling blue wood smoke...mmm
Well! That was a capital story!
This old thing is lying in hospital after a fall & breaking my thigh!
      Very painful.
But I'm getting there, feel more mi'self today than the last 4.
At least I'm being run after, whims catered for & the meals are home cooked type & utterly delicious.
Had Red Pepper & Lentil broth tonight with a rough seeded bread bun, custard & Bakewell Tart!!
Thank you lots & lots for your story
      Quite wonderful
      Peace & Sticky Buns
      🇬🇧🙋

The variety of stories you read is wonderful. My six-year-old overheard your voice many times, and was recently intrigued to the point of asking to sit with me and listen to some stories. I immediately knew to play The Inexperienced Ghost! It had him giggling, wide-eyed, and gasping a few times in suspense. Ever since then, he often asks if there is a new "Jasper Story" yet. It's heartwarming to share these moments as a family. Can't thank you enough for what you do!

That is so lovely, Caitlynn. A lot of the stories I do are sort of suitable for children (indeed, this one was written for children) and I developed my own love of horror and ghost stories as a child. Happy to have found (maybe?) my youngest fan 😆

    Wonderful story.
I used to do a lot if solitary drinking in old (for the US, circa pre revolutionary war) graveyards in New England because no one bothered me. I'd sit with my back to a tombstone, facing away from the street. Police never knew I was there as I'm not afraid of the dark.
I remember feeling very safe and even welcome in some and really unwelcome in others. If it was a still night and little skirls of wind blew up, I took it that I should leave. And I never tested that impression.
I have no desire to confront the unquiet dead. I havent thought of this in iver 40 years but this story brought it back. Memory is a minefield!

"whatever was once in, was now out..." some beautiful prose, powerfully narrated... EnCrypted Horror has been sustaining me from here to Alanya in Turkey and back again... British heat is entirely more tolerable and thank you for the chills...

I feel like I keep repeating the same praises of your work over and over again. It’s getting difficult to find new ways to express my appreciation for your style and the pure enjoyment I experience in listening to each of your stories, postmortems and your recent reading of “true “ ghosts stories ( really tickled my funny bone😄). What at first captured my admiration of your style and story choices has consistently held true in everything you’ve created since. Thank you for another wonderfully chilling tale!….by the way, I liked your big bong 🔔had my ear buds in, felt it right in my spine 😁

    Very creepy thumbnail!
Great way to get us in.
This is a story that never really spooked me until you presented it Jasper. In your usual style you have brought it to life... Or death perhaps.
This story has always reminded me of a Clive Barker story which became the movie 'Rawhead Rex'. I never saw it but I read the short story.
Barker brought his own special formula to this idea. He wrote some really good short horror tales.
I always recall 'The Yattering and Jack' best of all.
Anyway blah blah. Thanks so much Jasper,
(so much cooler a name than Cornelius, is Jasper. Same stone different name).

After hearing his smart aleck remarks in the last video, I almost expected to hear something like, "Bad idea, that. Didn't you learn anything from Poltergeist?" EDIT-- I wasn't complaining about the remarks; they gave me some good laughs. 😀

Just an aside...I looked her up:
"Lucy Maria Boston (née Wood; 10 December 1892 - 25 May 1990) was an English novelist who wrote for children and adults, publishing her work entirely after the age of 60." Ah, that last fact gives me hope....
She was also an accomplished artist and world renowned for her needlecraft and patchworks.
Hemingford Grey Manor was her home, and the basis for her children's books, where she also created a magical garden. It's open to the public and holds displays of her famous needlework, etc.

I think L.M. either fell down with this story (pun wasn't intended, but now it's here, so why waste) as this doesn't sound like a short story; more like the beginning of something far longer. It felt like you had just gotten going when it ended. Well, I really enjoyed it until it ended. Well done.
