I believe this to be the best TTRPG for new players released in the past year.
A retro futuristic reality where the 90s smashes into a virtual world connected by a different internet, same pop culture, a changed America and a new take on what it means to be dystopian world.
The Electric State is one of the latest releases from Ennie award winning Free League Publishing, the masterminds behind Vaesan, MÖRK BORG and Dragonbane.
Not to mention their collection of colossal tie-in systems for Alien, The Walking Dead and The Lord of the Rings role playing games.
This entry is brought from the mind of visual artist Simon Stålenhag. This world is an eery mirror to our own where something in the neuroscape just isn't quite right and people in the real world are becoming the same.
Your players will take a road trip like no other, crossing the Mojave desert, skirting the edge of Los Angeles, along the shore to San Francisco and everywhere in between. This is the new country of Pacifica, populated by regular people trying to get by, scavengers, authorities, corporate agents, cultists, robots and massive military drones, remnants of the second American Civil war.

I don't think I'd ever play this game but that art book would be nice to have.
I'd recommend it if you ever want to try a different ttrpg.

shucks was hoping for a PC game
It would be cool. A sort of blend between Neuroscape and real world gameplay.
I imagine it would be something like The Last of Us, or that style at least. But more focus on the journeys. Could be very cool.

I really recommend it. If even for the chapters on creating a "journey."
It almost goes into a "how to/creative writing" guide that will shape how I put adventures together for this and other games I'll run.
