An excellent villain, I always thought, probably the best of the human-looking opponents as opposed to Things like the Daleks. Like the whole of Doctor Who, the Master had a sense of humour rarely if ever seen on, for instance, 'Star Trek'. This little documentary's rather fun, too. I'm a little surprised though someone didn't add as the police often do with dangerous criminals (especially recalling his hypnotic powers), 'If you see this man on no account approach him, but dial 999 immediately'! And the Doctor Who production team were extraordinarily lucky in finding Anthony Ainley to replace Robert Delgado who I believe died in a road accident in Turkey. Who is the mini-documentary's presenter?
The Master as the Dr,s arch-enemy was at his best when he was played by Roger Delgado and Roger created a Master that cannot ever really be recreated in the same way in another science fiction series Blake,s Seven Jacqueline Pearce who played arch enemy and series main villain Servalan was awesome and Jacqueline like Roger created a Servalan who nevr really can be recreated in any shape or form

Along with Roger Delgado, cast includes legendary Victor MacLaglen (in his final film), Stanley Baker, Robert Shaw, Luciana Paluzzi (long before she was a Bond villainess in 'Thunderball'), Barry Foster, Richard Pearson, Rupert Davies, Francis de Woolf and Gregoire Aslan.
Zero Ninety I always hated the drums thing. I remember one of the things Beevers said about the character in one of the Big Finish audios he was in is that one of the fun and interesting things about the Master is that there is no real reason for why he is evil, he just sort of revels in the misery he causes others. I like the Master as a villain because, yeah, some people are just horrible and given a time machine and boundless knowledge of the universe, some people would get a bit of a god complex and abuse that power.

It would be fun to see them. :)

I did think Geoffrey Beavers' "decayed Master" was a very good portrayal of the character. Ainley really came good in "Survival", as the business suit - and it being awhile since we had seen him, as well as a more measured performance.
I know the actress Ingrid Pitt, who played Queen Galliea in Time Monster was considered for the part of arch-enemy and arch-villain Servalan in Blakes Seven I am sure Ingrid could have played the main villain Servalan in B7 really well but she would not have been anywhere near as awesome or as definitive as Jacqueline Pearce was as arch-enemy Servalan .I also say Roger Delgado, Jacqueline Pearce, Paul Darrow, Michael Keating, Stephen Greif, David McCallum and joanna Lumley have all created parts that really cannot ever be recreated in tens of billions of years.
@rojblake82 thanks for the question! thats really a tough one, I had to do some research as I'm not quite as up to speed with Blake's Seven as I am with Dr Who, but I believe that whilst the master has obvious advantages it would still be quite a close match!
I have still got the VHS box set of Trial of a Time Lord and also the DVD and Blu-Ray box sets as well and they are awesome Trial of a Time Lord was sadly the final end of Colin Baker,s tenure as the Sixth Dr and he never got the chance to develop and play the 6th Dr the way he wanted to play the role and also Colin had intended to play the Dr as long as Tom had done either 7 years or possibly even longer given the chance but because Michael Grade head of BBC1 did not like Colin Baker as Dr Who and had poor Colin removed from playing the Dr so Colin Baker could not go on in the role of the 6th Dr beyond season 23 Trial of a Time Lord and also had Colin been able to continue as the Dr into season 24 to 26 wouldthe series have been continued into the dreaded nineteen Nineties or would Dr Who have still been axed until 2005 who knows

@sirtinycreep it depends on your outlook, several incarnations of the doctor have not exactly been up to par but people enjoyed them, the current master is allot more excentric phycotic than the older more minyacle masters. i enjoyed them
I really don't think that John Simm Master si bad, I just think that he matched very well David Tennant Doctor: young, bouncing, human. In fact their scenes together were very well. However, John Simm Master hadn't the same alchemy with Peter Capaldi Doctor, in fact I really didin't like them in Enough Time and Space (even if this version of the Master hadn't so much to do here). Michelle Gomez Master was good, she was a hell of an actress, but sometimes I just don't feel her like the proper Master, but like a different character. I don't think that the Master will return soon as a villain (because, as Missy, he was present for three seasons in a row), but if it'll be, I would a Roger Delgato-type of Master (rigid, elegant, charming, a bit old) with Jodie Whittaker Doctor (she seems to be young, enthusiastic, goofy, loonatic). I think it could be a strange and interesting balance .
The Master used to be the stuff of nightmares - a true blackhearted villain, evil and charming in equal measure. Roger Delgado was - and will forever be - the MASTER. Now, sadly, the lefty lunacy that pervades the Biased Broadcasting Corporation has turned him into a her and destroyed one of the great characters of British TV. R.I.P.
@@waltonsimons12 No, you can tell he's the one who has watched Dr who. He's the one making sense. Missy may be a good character in her own right but she is NOT the Master. She's an insult to the character and the memory of Roger Delgado.

'The Master' as a character should have been retired with the untimely death of Roger Delgado. Writers could easily have come up with another master criminal, the Doctor wasn't short of them.
I agree I also think Had Roger Delgado been alive to appear in Jon Pertwee's finale which was intended to be a final showdown between dr 3 and the Master who was to be killed off in a blaze of glory and go out with a bang and had that been the case I thinkit would have been best to retire the Master from Dr Who and create new Time Lord villains instead even the Valeyard and the Rani were more interesting villains than the Master who in the 80s was terribly overused and wasted in some stories

No branchy thicket shelter yields;

Pure lilies of eternal peace,
Whose odours haunt my dreams;
And, stricken by an angel's hand,
This mortal armour that I wear,
This weight and size, this heart and eyes,

RIP Shaw Taylor.

Shaw Taylor pioneered the use of the public to help solve crimes by contacting the programme, which he fronted from its launch in 1962.
@sirtinycreep it depends on your outlook, several incarnations of the doctor have not exactly been up to par but people enjoyed them, the current master is allot more excentric phycotic than the older more minyacle masters.
i enjoyed them

J'en ai un peu marre du Maître ...
May the Force be with Something New in Dr Who !
🙂
his real name is Koeshei
@dramaticguy I totally agree, the new Master is a joke.
I think it could be a strange and interesting balance .
what do you think about Sasha Dhawan's Master?
Im similar with this guy Now its the first that i took a Personality from a mizantropic villain
2:52 Aaahh haha ha hahahahahaaha HAHAHAHAHAHAahaaahahahahaa
The Master used to be the stuff of nightmares - a true blackhearted villain, evil and charming in equal measure. Roger Delgado was - and will forever be - the MASTER. Now, sadly, the lefty lunacy that pervades the Biased Broadcasting Corporation has turned him into a her and destroyed one of the great characters of British TV. R.I.P.
Why do you say that? Missy was actually not as bad as you're making her sound.
You can tell Blastfrom thepast has never actually watched Doctor Who. In reality, Michelle Gomez's portrayal is the only one to truly rival Delgado's.
@@waltonsimons12 No, you can tell he's the one who has watched Dr who. He's the one making sense. Missy may be a good character in her own right but she is NOT the Master. She's an insult to the character and the memory of Roger Delgado.
@@waltonsimons12 You are either delusional or simply stupid if you think Gomez's portrayal "rivals" Delgado in any capacity. I'm not going to call her a bad actress, but the material she was given to work with was crap and "Missy" is nothing more than a repulsive slap in the face to Delgado's legacy.
Derek Jacobis war master is greatest master of all time. Delgado is a distant second
The year 1993 was for me crap
Ghost chantelle lockwick bodies blake bosschaart
He is worse than the dalek and cyberman with their we obey.
He isn't as bad as the silence who in the end ended themselves.
But lastly... Why did he lose that ability?
He didn't. Remember Arc Angel Network? Lucy Saxon? Etc
Tony Blair's role model.

If only it included the Edward Brayshaw Master from The War Games. :)But, these days, the times are changing. :)
'The Master' as a character should have been retired with the untimely death of Roger Delgado. Writers could easily have come up with another master criminal, the Doctor wasn't short of them.
Derek jacobi as the war master in the big finish audio dramas delivered the best master of all time, so no it's good they kept him going
Had to watch a lot of bs for the actual clip🙄
