    A certain Roger K Barrett does - or did - exist. He was none other than Roger Keith Barrett (1946-2006) better known as Syd Barrett, founder member of Pink Floyd and the eponymous 'Crazy Diamond' of one of Pink Floyd's finest songs.
    Curiously, Mr Barrett disappeared from the scene in the mid-1970s - at about the same time as the final instalment of Tenth Planet itself - and both proved to be equally elusive thereafter.

      They may not be of broadcast quality but it's still better than not having them at all. The surviving episodes of Doctor Who have the ability to be remastered to near broadcast quality, which can't be said for other shows that have episodes that only survive as domestic recordings (such as the 2 wiped episodes of It Ain't Half Hot Mum and the VHS recorded episode of Till Death Us Do Part and even non BBC programmes like Pipkins and Tiswas).

    You know what, even though once lost TV programmes are turning up left, right and centre, sadly I think the well for Doctor Who has well and truly dried up. I mean the most recent discoveries are turning 10 years old next year where as before episodes were recovered every couple of years (that's probably why the BBC decided to animate largely missing stories because even they know the well has dried up, that and to make a little cash). Still, I'd love to be proven wrong.

      On the Doctor Who Restoration Team website (which can only be accessed by the Wayback Machine at the moment), in the FAQ section they explain why it's not included on any home release.
      "Shown before the 1993 repeat of Planet of the Daleks Episode 3 on BBC1, this 5-minute featurette is about the problem of missing Doctor Who episodes. Many fans dislike it because they feel the production team decided to poke fun at the obsessiveness of missing-episode hunters rather than raising interest in the search. In particular, comments by Ian Levine appear to have been deliberately edited to change the emphasis and show him in a bad light. The programme also lends credence to the rumour that some fans are knowingly hoarding missing episodes, without any evidence to support such a claim. The assertion that these episodes "change hands for vast sums of money" is both untrue and likely to hinder future recoveries.
      For these reasons, the Restoration Team regards the production as a seriously flawed piece of journalism that does not deserve more exposure. (JS)"

    LOL I can understand Ian Levine's anger but I do find it fucking hilarious watching him clench his fists and getting angry. It's funny coz his face dosen't look even slightly angry. What would he do in a fight anyway? Sit on Roger K Barrett? He was actually proved wrong about no more episodes turning up. In a documentary that was shown many many years ago he said no more would turn up. Well...

    • @justrandomvids10
      @justrandomvids10 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think just about every episode is out there and i'll explain why i think this is true, when 9 episodes where discovered the other year web of fear episode 3 was apparently also discovered too, however it took months to negotiate the tapes transit from Nigeria and when they arrived episode 3 wasn't in the collection presumably it was sold to a collector so surely this means film collectors all over the world could own some dr who tapes, and another example is the daleks master plan, it was said that only a few counties took this episode and they either sent them back or destroyed them themselves, however a few episodes where found in an old church, whats not to say all the other episodes are in a film collectors possession or a random country somewhere i think there is still a large amount of hope of finding even more!

      The very first dalek story all 7 episodes on original film, all 7 negatives and all 7 positives in English and all 7 negatives and all 7 positives in Arabic he says on More than 30 years in the TARDIS documentary. That's 28 reels of film to start with. A super fan of the classic show with encyclopedic knowledge of that era that was used by the bbc, he rescued those stories that were due to be destroyed that day, so be thankful to Iain we have the Daleks first story with William Hartnell. The man is a legend for rescuing that alone!

    You know you’ve got to laugh nowadays look at this documentary where the saying 110 episodes are still missing when a good chunk of them have survived granted it’s still over 50 episodes missing one of which being the 10th planet part 4 but the same time the next story power of the Daleks does exist the person who owns it does not want to give it up even though the BBC did offer to make copies but let’s not get into that mess simply put we are out there somewhere just at this point in time we don’t know I personally say at this point just start animating more of them if they turn up great they turn up they don’t know well
