They probably will in the final episode. He's the kind of character who doesn't last long after completing his lifelong quest. As soon as he's dealt with whatever happened to his wife and daughter, he's done. He'll probably go feral afterwards, and need to be put down by Lucy.
@@robertwye9463 Doubt it. It will likely be a quick epilogue. He'll stagger away from whatever the climactic battle is, mumbling feral stuff, fall to his knees, and Lucy will put him out of his misery.
Well to be fair. If you were to pick a menacing name for a wasteland gun slinging legend. Which sounds more ominous. "The Ghoul"... Or "Cooper Howard".
Feels like most ghouls either settle down in a spot after some time and make some connections, even friendships or they hole up alone, sequestered away from other people entirely- but The Ghoul has stayed active yet totally unknowable. Even being essentially biologically immortal, ghouls born pre-war are constantly dwindling in number from enemies & feralization- but The Ghoul has been appearing & disappearing for 220 years now. I figure he’s up there with The Mysterious Stranger in terms of wasteland tall tales.
I could already imagine it, after depriving people from their families so long, as soon as Cooper reunites with his family, the little girl or the father takes vengeance and kills Coop, or worse, his family.
Mentioning the lead that could've still been inside him, the fact the NCR fell and also that the battle for Hoover Dam wasnt long ago.. could The Ghoul have been hired by the Legion..?
No. The Legion kills all Ghouls on sight basically. Its never said but I suspect thats one of the reasons why Vulpes irritated the camp searchlight. To further humiliate the NCR by turning some soldiers into ghouls. More probably the Ghoul was hired to like, kill a ncr ranger or something that this guy was in the same camp with. Something like that.
He took no joy in having to kill Tommy, below that tough exterior he has developed. Cooper was a father at one time and Tommy's sister reminded him of his daughter.
I think he deep down didn't want to kill Tommy I think he knew Tommy was just a stupid kid who got involved in things he shouldn't have but at the same time he knew that Tommy wasn't going to let him leave alive after what he did to Rufus It was less of a "I'm going to kill you for fun" situation and more like a "Only one of us is leaving alive and unfortunately it ain't gonna be you" You can actually hear Cooper sigh after Tommy hits the floor One could say it's a sigh of "Stupid kid really thought he could out gun me" but I think it's a sigh of "I didn't want to do that I really really didn't want to do that"
It feels like I have seen a scene like this in an old western movie. A stranger turns up announced at a family home to get information from the man of the house. Stranger gets information and I think the man of the house tries to draw and open fire on the stranger but is beaten to the draw and killed. Stranger departs leaving the man's (now widow) mourning over her dead husband. It feels like the Good, the Bad and the Ugly or one of the movies from that trilogy. I am thinking it was a Lee Van Cleef (Angel Eyes) scene. I do love Coop's cowboy themed character in the show. In his limelight he was the Clint Eastwood of his day in the movie theatres. Now in the nuclear wasteland he has to rely on those ancient days cowboy gunslinging/fighting techniques to survive in this dystopian future. It is like the Opposite of Dune where the advanced Holtzman shield forces combatants to go back to hand-to-hand, bladed combat.
I have a feeling that Fallout isn't done with his family. If they stick to the Western Genre, Tommys sister (when she gets older) or dad will come after The Ghoul to get their revenge.
Yes, exactly what I thought. The Ghoul's action in this scene will have consequences, and it won't be a nice one. Though I don't think they would stand much of a chance against The Ghoul, but still, would love to see them try.
I just got an idea, if Tommy did die, I hope the Farmer and daughter roll out like the Shogun Assassin (Wolf and Cub) Samurai movie…. Or like Nick Cage and his daughter in Kick Ass!
I don’t think the dad will. He knows full well what the Ghoul can do and what his sons did that they shouldn’t have. And at the end of the day, Cooper gave the kid a choice.
Tommy: I didn't wanna spend my life digging through dirt. I wanna build something and we have the chance- Dad: tell him what he wants to know or else he's gonna kill us all I love this bit so much lol. Dad's like fuck your platitudes you naive little shit we are in very real danger and all your build a better world rhetoric won't do shit to keep our brains intact when a bullet passes through them. It's an interesting contrast between an idealistic teenage dumbass and a man who's survived many years and grasps the reality of the situation in a way his son doesn't
I know I wasn't the only one who said, "Holy Sh** that's ERIK ESTRADA!!" or those who said, "PONCHO?" My dad and I only noticed compared to my nephew. Especially, my dad noticed The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly reference.
I think him thinking that the daughter was the meal was more do to fact that the wasteland and the fallout world is extremely brutal into the extreme like constant Warzone of the worst kind
I was like number 1,000. So I'll use my newfound victory to say that Erik Estrada did an absolutely phenomenal job as a retired NCR Ranger who's trying to retire and live in peace. I'm seeing a lot of comments complimenting Walter Goggins, but not enough to emphasize that he had a really good actor to bounce off of and keep the scene genuinely tense. Was surprised seeing him in the show, and was happy he was in it. Good job mate, hope to see your character rise up one more time for the last good fight.
Maldover's base is at the Observatory, so the raider base is up "in the hills". The Bullet Farmer is most likely ex-NCR, so he has very low opinion of other groups in how 'they will save the world', especially since Maldover is talking about "endless power".
To the fans who played Fallout 1 the ambience in the background sounds eerily similar to the ambiance sound effect in fallout 1 when your roaming the desert, I’m not against it. I like it,I figured I ask
That was definitely not fair, first he wasn't politely asking, that was a threat, which he did after he snuck into the house with a little girl who was alone and then somehow convinced/forced her to cook for him, which is beyond creepy and weird. Then he baited the kid into trying that, while he knew the boy was at a huge disadvantage and couldn't win. He goaded him about killing his older brother while threatening the rest of his family, and the kid had to look away, reach grab then point the gun, all the ghoul had to do was pull the trigger. The fair thing would've been to just leave and let him try to get revenge if he wanted, like in kill bill when she tells that kid she'll be waiting for her. I think he said he was worried about him shooting him the back, but he could've just told the kid to return to fields or whatever while he makes his exit in the opposite direction. Just a weak move by a weak character in my eyes, and a poor farmer had to watch his last son die because of it.
Feel free to comment on this idea! Hear me out Equal stats, no divine magic or death guns Saint of killers Vs the ghoul Setting, an Abandoned town in cali
The Ghoul needed information. He knew this guy had information. So he set it up so that he would walk in and see him eating meat. Making him think that he was eating his daughter. Then he threatened them and got the information
It is a citation from The Good,The Bad and The Ugly, there is a scene that is almost the same. On the "plot" point, this is to show how the ghouls tracks down the others and also how ruthless he is. In old Western movies this kind of scenes had the point to show us the precise morality of a major charachter. How do they pursue their goals against the weak alone colonists of the west? Do they show faith in the good of people or in the bad side of people? How good are they with their weapons? So when they face the other main charachters we know whats up and we know the stakes. Usually this scenes are done in saloon, during poker gambit, during a valuable exchange/standoff or, like in this one, during an interrogation.
Also there are cases of murder on the American frontier, where the man was found 'not guilty' because the man he killed "had killed someone in his family". This was back in the day where if you were wanted, you could just leave the province and the law wouldn't follow you. So the threat of Tommy seeking him out for a "justified killing" isn't farfetched.

She probably reminds him a lot of his daughter, Cooper is ruthless when he has to be but he still is an honorable man who has suffered enormously
"I probably still got some of your lead in me somewhere." This guy shot the ghoul in the past? He's definitely gonna come back hunting for the ghoul.
Crazy how the Ghoul scared an ex NCR ranger so badly.
I have a feeling Tommy's dad will be back for revenge in the next season
Although Howard killed a lot of people in cold blood, and perhaps only ate human flesh when he was desperate, I like to think that he would never have harmed a child.
You could also see that deep down he is still a dog lover
Nah. He’s not some coward nonsense you want. He’s 200 years a ghoul. He’s not a good man.
I think he was nice and gentle with the child, same with dogs he’s still the same man, but with others he’s the ghoul but only drops it when he’s around dog meat, innocent children and later Lucy as his own cooper Howard voice instead of the ghoul’s southern accent are heard
This whole scene was a skill check.
I feel this will come back around for the ghoul.
Reminds me of the opening to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
The ghoul is there star character of the show hopefully they dont ever kill him off
They probably will in the final episode. He's the kind of character who doesn't last long after completing his lifelong quest. As soon as he's dealt with whatever happened to his wife and daughter, he's done. He'll probably go feral afterwards, and need to be put down by Lucy.
@@MarsM13 I hope when that happens we get to see the full process of going feral throughout the entire season.
@@robertwye9463 Doubt it. It will likely be a quick epilogue. He'll stagger away from whatever the climactic battle is, mumbling feral stuff, fall to his knees, and Lucy will put him out of his misery.
Very reminiscent of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
I like how everyone just calls him THE Ghoul. Like he's the Alpha.....tbh he might be, even tho we've seen some badass Ghouls throughout the games
@@Slop_Dogg I wouldn't be surprised if the some of the mysterious stranger reports actually were the ghoul.
@@EveryoneElseIsWeirdImNormal fair point lol
To be fair, any ghoul that survived for 200+ years and is still standing is pretty badass.
“Sarah?”
[Terrifying Presence] (Draw attention to what you’re eating so that he thinks it’s her)
Estrada was great
This scene is dedicated to Lee Van clef
Love the song that plays after he kills Tommy reminds me of new Vegas ambience
Amazing that a kid growing up in this environment still can’t recognize a pro when they see one.
he recognized pro alright, he was just so deep in anger he decided to try to kill him.
That's two brothers down, wonder if the little sister gonna try and take a shot at Ghoul in a decade or two.
I could already imagine it, after depriving people from their families so long, as soon as Cooper reunites with his family, the little girl or the father takes vengeance and kills Coop, or worse, his family.
I think the ghoul is gonna look back on this and regret killing a young man... a young boy.
Ghoul: Sheesh, I'm not that crazy
Arcane reference baby!
Oh Now I get it he thought he ate her 😅
This was such a stand out scene.
It didn’t show but Cooper looked really shook after he left the house
He took no joy in having to kill Tommy, below that tough exterior he has developed. Cooper was a father at one time and Tommy's sister reminded him of his daughter.
I think he deep down didn't want to kill Tommy
I think he knew Tommy was just a stupid kid who got involved in things he shouldn't have but at the same time he knew that Tommy wasn't going to let him leave alive after what he did to Rufus
It was less of a "I'm going to kill you for fun" situation and more like a "Only one of us is leaving alive and unfortunately it ain't gonna be you"
You can actually hear Cooper sigh after Tommy hits the floor
One could say it's a sigh of "Stupid kid really thought he could out gun me" but I think it's a sigh of "I didn't want to do that I really really didn't want to do that"
I don't know if this was intentional, but this whole scene feels like a homage to 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.'
Yeah its The Good The Bad and The Ugly
I have a feeling that Fallout isn't done with his family. If they stick to the Western Genre, Tommys sister (when she gets older) or dad will come after The Ghoul to get their revenge.
Yes, exactly what I thought. The Ghoul's action in this scene will have consequences, and it won't be a nice one. Though I don't think they would stand much of a chance against The Ghoul, but still, would love to see them try.
I don’t think the son he shot is dead either… but yes I hope he comes back with a back story and puts that armor to use!
Oh the dad isn't stupid enough to pick that fight. If the daughter picks the fight it won't be for a very long time. And that assumes Tommy even dies
4:11 Dumb move kid!
Best scene in the whole show.
I feel like his voice would be a lot higher with no nose
I figured the opposite, a stuffed up nose causes a higher pitch, so that cyclops socket outta be clear and deep.
Tommy: I didn't wanna spend my life digging through dirt. I wanna build something and we have the chance-
Dad: tell him what he wants to know or else he's gonna kill us all
I love this bit so much lol.
Nothing wrong with wanting to build something better, but he definitely was not smart about it
@@JDog2656I don't disagree. But like I said it's not gonna keep you alive when you get shot in the face
is that erik estrada? wow!
Wow, indeed! I had no idea he was on this show.
Hopefully season 2 a courier becomes a major player!
Tommy!! Over in a flash...
The oufit is killer❤
So, the sister is the smart one...
Goddamn this show is good.

The Ghoul is Angel Eyes from “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”.
I know I wasn't the only one who said, "Holy Sh** that's ERIK ESTRADA!!" or those who said, "PONCHO?" My dad and I only noticed compared to my nephew. Especially, my dad noticed The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly reference.
Can we all recognize that Ponch looks amazing!? He must be 80
I think him thinking that the daughter was the meal was more do to fact that the wasteland and the fallout world is extremely brutal into the extreme like constant Warzone of the worst kind
"That kid kick sand in Cool Cat face."
this scence was attractive for no reason
4:10 RDR Dead Eye moment! 💥
Best scene
Fuck! Thanks comments! It is Estrada. That was bothering me.
Tommy was a pretty stupid kid.
Oh shit the courier coulda been lowkey named dropped in this scene being the same “courier” that escorted the enclave scientist to filly
Hey it’s Ponch!
My theory on The Ghoul that he use to be a Desert Ranger after the Great War but left after the Desert Rangers join up with NCR
I wonder why the Lead Farmer called Lee Maldover a mad woman in the hills?
probably and old follower of hers that became disillusioned with her cause.
@@gwac0609 Probably thinks she’s clinging onto a dead dream.
Maldover's base is at the Observatory, so the raider base is up "in the hills".
The Bullet Farmer is most likely ex-NCR, so he has very low opinion of other groups in how 'they will save the world', especially since Maldover is talking about "endless power".
Because she is one
Don't think we've seen the last of the father & daughter.
To the fans who played Fallout 1 the ambience in the background sounds eerily similar to the ambiance sound effect in fallout 1 when your roaming the desert, I’m not against it. I like it,I figured I ask
Nobody taking a bigger issue with the fact the the Ghoul outright murdered this guy's sons?
Apparently not.
It’s the wasteland after all. Woulda came back around to bite him.. maybe. But why take the risk
Maybe someday.. westworld call back??
Science fiction Boyd Crowder. Where's Raylon?
Feel free to comment on this idea! Hear me out
Equal stats, no divine magic or death guns
Saint of killers Vs the ghoul
Setting, an Abandoned town in cali
I hope the farmer and son get busy in season 2 and put that iconic armor to good use!
I do not think the son is gonna be doing anything in S2
Tommy shouldve known the game was rigged from the very start
Please explain this scene? I still trying to piece together
Oh yeah the dweller the knight and the ghoul 😂😂😂 good movie 🎥🍿 to make 😊😂😂
For those who said his son is stupid.... i think his son is doing a good fight.
