Ehh idk the show actually expanded more on the ghoul lore by adding that they needed this "Vial" to prevent feralisation but they dont actually explain what that is other than it is a PreWar Chem
Which could have been a simple addition to the lore of the games that would allow for more diverse player characters. If I want to make my character have 1 Intelligence and block out mission objectives and dialogue options, why can't I be a Ghoul or a Synth or a Super Mutant and have THAT dictate the types of shenanigans I can get up to?
How exactly? The show indicates that ghouls have to constantly consume some kind of drug in order to maintain their sanity, or they become feral. For creatures that do not die of old age, that is an unsustainable task.

Major correction: Bud's Buds aren't test-tube babies, they're living pre-war middle-managers and prospective executives who were put into in cryo-sleep like we saw in Fallout 4. The prime example is Betty: She was a middle-manager / executive assistant in her 30s or early 40s when The Bombs fell, and she was put into cryo-sleep and kept in Vault 31 in a sort of numerical order of who would become Vault 33's Overseers over the ensuing decades and centuries. And Bud himself is a rather morbid relic: As one of the major architects of The Vault 31 Plan but an otherwise unassuming yes-man, he was made to endure 200+ years as a nearly-helpless Brain In A Jar.
And Dane isn't a girl, norm doesn't explore vault 32 during the raid attack, the dog isn't the one who is pursued but the doctor... Stopped watching because obviously it's full of randomly incorrect information.
