Yeah, good call tripjet999...trust me, I've heard it before. Sometimes in life you take a gamble...the goal is to minimize the risks. I always try to keep the Monster Jeep in tip-top shape and usually pack a little extra food. I know the area very well and in a worst case scenario I always bring along a set of snow shoes and a backpack in case I have to hike out. If you ask me, that would just add to the adventure... Trust me, it would take an awful lot of things to go wrong and some real bad luck for me to be found dead in these remote snow-packed hills. I ain't saying it can't happen, but I feel very comfortable on the snow in the woods. Thanks for watching...Happy Trails! :)
Good video. I would rather hear that engine and snow then music. I actually fall a sleep in the middle of video because of this music :D. Regarding being in the woods during winter nights I always pack air activated hand warmers and body warmers. It lasts about 8 hrs since you activate it and its very good in engine failure case to just keep you warm until the morning or if you have to hike more then one day back. Combine it with heat reflecting foil and you get lite and effective kit.
Hey Kris...thanks for the feedback. You're not the first person to mention background noise-vs-music. The main issue is that usually I'm listening to something on my SiriusXM satellite radio that creates a copyright problem. I have tried to blend things more and will continue to look for opportunities to provide more background noise. They're there, I just need to utilize them more...thanks for the reminder. :) And thanks for sharing the helpful survival tips...good information we could all use. Anyway Kris, "Till next time...Happy Trails. Thanks for watching!" :)
If you haven’t already, join a local Ham (Amatuer) Radio club, get your HF license and equip your Jeep with a decent HF/2M/440 Set-up for emergency communications.
Completely gave me the itch to do some offroading with the right equipment ! I liked also how you took it slow and steady and never panic ed ! Just another enjoyable night taking it all in. Thanks for sharing the experience
Enjoyed everything about the video, music and all. Very therapeutic, I gotta follow Dr.'s orders and get more in touch with nature. Looking into buying my first Jeep later this year. Keep up the good work!
Thats a nicely set-up Jeep. I particularly like the hi-lift jack at the top/front of the hood. That should throw any pedestrians up and over the windshield, thus preventing any damage to the Jeep. Great video.
Hey Sgt G, thank you. :) Yeah, I used to have the jack up on a roof rack, but got rid of the rack and had to find a new place for it. Now I can't stand it if it's not there. Happy Trails! :)
Right on Chris...Yeah, panic creates bad decisions. Bud Nixon shared that with me and I agree. When something happens, it's best to take a break and relax! Thanks for watching...Happy Trails! :)
I'd kind of question the mud terrain tires in snow, but I'd *totally* question wheeling alone (!!!) and with no spare tire to boot (you never know what's under the snow). Still, a cool video, and great scenery. It looks like lockers would have been helpful. I just bought my first Wrangler (JKUR) a few months ago. Have had it off road several times, but have not had a chance to try it in snow yet, but I can sure see how the slow and steady style works well in the deeper stuff. Thanks for that.
Right on Videos...I just go when I can, sometimes it's alone and sometimes it's with others. I just recently ditched the spare tire because of the weight, got tired of packing that thing around, but you're right, I should probably get a tire plug/patch kit. Thanks for watching! :)
Your choice of music is nice, and so very much better than mindless prattle and endless Yammer. Myself, ‘16 JK Two Door with 33” so much easier overall for an old man of 74. Living in Sandy makes an easy hope to play in the woods and snow. Enjoyed your. Idea a great deal ,thank you for sharing 👍🏻❗️
Right-on Robert...thanks for the feedback. Sending a Jeep wave your way, know several people out in Sandy and around Mt. Hood...it's a pleasure. Thanks for watching, till next time...Happy Trails! : )
I saw you that in a video - you made a camp when you reached your destination and you slept the night there. I wonder - how and where do you sleep? I suppose in the Jeep but - how you keep you warm inside there (throughout the whole night)? Thanks for the great channel!
Hey Combine...Yeah, sometimes I get lazy and just sleep in the Jeep. I have to much stuff in the back, so the best set-up is a sleeping bag in the passenger seat with it kicked back. It usually results in about three - two hour naps. If I wake up or get cold, I'll just start the Jeep for about 10 minutes and warm it up. Thanks for watching! : )
Ah heck yeah, I love summit lake in the summer. But now that I have a JK I'd love to do some snow camping. Already been up into Gifford Pinchot north of Carson and done some snow camping. Any chance you would let a jeep newbie tag along? Maybe show me a thing or two? You obviously have a very firm grasp on what you're doing.
Hey, right-on Tom...yeah, I'm doing some work on the Monster Jeep right now. Should be done in a couple weeks, and then I have a few things to catch-up on. Hit me up on Facebook, and maybe we can get together here shortly...I have a few other people with similar request. Till then, take care and Happy Trails! : )
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to do something like this (New jeep owner) That looks so fun! Just DOPE! Forget whoever hates on this video. I’ve got a bunch of questions, what cameras were you using?
What brand of 50 inch LED and what brand of mounting brackets are those? Did the power wire tuck under the bracket? Also, luv the 108 inch whip. Is that bracket secured any special way? I have same but running 4 ft wilson. Great job on videos. I really enjoy the music and your MONSTER Jeep. Michael from Alberta, Canada.
Hey Michael, it's by Mictuning. Here's a link to it on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OC9HMTM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As far as the brackets, they are just a standard bracket to hold a 50 inch light bar on a Jeep JK. The wire did not go under the bracket, but I ran it down along the inside edge of the bracket and zip tied it. As far as the antenna bracket, it slips under one of the bolts just inside under the hood and I added a couple of self-tapping metal screws to beef it up. Thanks for watching! :) Till next time...Happy Trails!
Very capable Jeep. Peaceful drive. When you drive in that snow, do you have the front and rear axles locked? You seem like you know what you're doing, but I would not go out there alone though. If something breaks on your Jeep, you've got a long walk back.
Hey 486Dx266, I try to run around in 4 low as much as I can and save the lockers for when there is an issue. In the deep stuff, you usually need the lockers to keep moving forward. And that's why I bring a backpack and a pair of snowshoes! : ) Happy Trails...thanks for watching!
LOL, let it snow let it snow! Actually, looks as if we will get flurries tomorrow here in some parts of Florida. What have you found works best for you for tire pressures in the snow? I hear what you're saying regarding the Hi-lift jack. My 4 wheeling experience has mostly been on the beach for surf fishing or logging roads during hunting season, and those jacks are irreplaceable.... Great video as always! ;-)
Hey Jerry, good to hear from you. Crazy, snow in Florida. As far as tire pressure in snow, the lower the better. I usually run around 10 psi with regular rims and will go down to 5 or lower with beadlock rims.
Hello FZJ-Xplor...it's always nice to meet a local snow wheeler. Conditions sure are looking good for Sunday, but I think I better install these high-line fender flares so these tires don't rub. Till next time...Happy Trails! :)
Good call chapmanmerchant, I get out when I can...sometime conditions are good and sometimes there not. Either way, I like the challenge. Check out "Snow Camping - Christmas 2017" or "Overnight Snow Run in the Oregon Cascades" for good conditions. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! : ) Happy Trails!
Do you ever look at tracks when you drive? I noticed several locations in the virgin drive, big tracks, but really noticed them about 18:57 or so. I am a big BF skeptic but I always look and those looked different. Could have been elk or bear or something but without seeing the actual track. You ever see anything strange out on your adventures? I have never seen anything I could not justify as being known. have heard some strange sounds once but chalked it up to wolf or a canine anyway love the adventure you had I am subscribing !!Semper Fi
Hey Structureman Chop, I do check out tracks. Never seen anything suspicious. If I remember right, I believe those were deer or elk tracks that went down the crossing trail. Thanks for watching! : )
Nice video, looks like lots of fun. nice looking JK. Mine is slowly getting there.. That whip antenna you have is that a ham antenna and it looks like its through the body? What radio you using..? As fas as those naysayers.. when you go into the wild, you must be prepared with survival gear, plenty of gas, water and food. I installed a Satellite phone, ham radio in my JK.. Dual batter system etc..
Hey, right-on sifilmaker...good advice. That's a 102" whip CB antenna. I've got a Stryker 955 hpc CB radio, a hand held CB, 2 hand held ham radios and a scanner with me. Thanks for watching...Happy Trails! : )
Gee I drive my 2015 Wrangler Winter X edition with Goodyear Wrangler tires in way deeper snow then that and I don't slip & slide all over like that one bit like your Monster Jeep does, maybe its because your running on "mud tires"? or because I live way up here in snow country of Northern Ontario and I'm used to driving in deep snow?
Who knows HenryHonda? If you're familiar with driving in snow, than you know there are all different types of snow, and they all react differently! ; ) Thanks for watching.
It’s 12.30 here in the uk, meant to go to bed hrs ago, on my 3rd vid now...so a late night looms! Why don’t I pause & go to bed? Cus I don’t want to.. lol Loving the vids. 👍
Right on Adam, I feel the same way. I would love to try a Goodyear Duratrack, but everyone runs mud tires in deep snow and they are expensive...so go with what you know. The BFG KM2's have done real well. I only aired down to 14 psi at this time because I new I would be traveling across bare ground along the way. Thanks for watching! :) Happy Trails!
Snow tires aren't designed to go through deep snow. They're designed for snow covered highways. Mud tires with deep treads and large blocks are the only way to go in deep snow as the tread clears quickly so the tires keep biting for traction. We do a lot of deep snow off roading in Montana. We air down to 3-5 lbs, we run lockers, and drive slow and steady to stay as much on top of the snow as possible.
Nice...yeah, conditions look good. Unfortunately, my timing is off this year. Need to get these high-line fenders installed this weekend so I don't rub these new tires.
I guess I got lucky...but good call. I hadn't checked yet, but it looks like there were a few early closures. We still have till Dec. 15th till the snowmobile restrictions kick in! :) Happy Trails!
Hey Pathfinder, I believe it's a Smittybilt 76856 XRC Black Textured Rear Bumper with Hitch and Tire Carrier for Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited and then I added a couple of Rock Hard 4x4 tire carrier tank mounts to it. You can find them pretty much anywhere...even on Amazon.
fOR THAT REAR BUMPER & TIRE SWING GATE THEY'RE ABOUT $570 CANADIAN & YOU CAN GET THE GAS CAN RACKS PLUS A COOLER RACK THAT GOES WITH THAT FOR AROUND $350 i THINK? SEEN ALL ON E-BAY. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.LOCK lOVE THAT JKU, I GOT A GRANITE CRYSTAL METALLIC COLORED ONE & I JUST LOVE IT. 1ST TRUCK I BOUGHT THAT I WASN'T SICK FOR A WEEK AFTER SPENDING ALL THAT LOOT ON.. IS THAT A 102 INCH CB WHIP? I LOVE DRIVING IN DEEP SNOW & STREAMS AS WELL.THIS IS A VIDEO THAT I WISH I WAS WHEELING IN WITH THAT BEAUTIFUL JKU.
Looks pretty wet..... :) Bummer you didn't have me go with you in my 4x4 van. Looks like fun. Last time I hit larch mountain a couple years ago I pulled out 2 jeeps. ;)
The road table on the Mt. Hood National Forest website. For example, Barlow Rd. Closed 11/20/17. A bunch of the 48*s (Bonny Meadows, Badger Lake) were listed as closed because of "snow fields and drifts". Suppose I should go sneak out later this week and check conditions myself ;)
lol...I know, right! You know how it is...a friend gave it that name and it just stuck! Now I have to live with the same and ridicule... ; ) Right-on "soulless one"...thanks for watching!
Interesting. You reinforce the reason that using 4WD full-time is considered dangerous. You don't know how thin your margin is, pushing until it is too late. And you head downhill (off road) into virgin space with out way out but to go backward.
Right-on WalterWhite8...good observations. I had the same thoughts so that's why I had an exit strategy and a plan B! But hey, that's what makes it fun...who doesn't like a little challenge? : )
Do understand the risk, oh solo one? Was there an exit strategy other than a cell phone or extra gas? Backing up uphill when in trouble was definitely not the best "plan".
Hey, right on Bob...thanks for joining the conversation. Well as you pointed out, "Backing up uphill when in trouble was definitely not the best plan." I should first say I didn't feel like I was in any trouble, but that being said, it was my first exit strategy. Maybe not the "best" plan, but I figured I would try to follow my pack back out and surprisingly I usually do better going backward than I do going forward. (and as it turned out, that plan worked) Second, I always have a shovel. I would have gone to that next just for practice, I always like to see if I can dig my way out. Third, I had an exit route going forward and to the left in a big U turn and had winch points (trees) to use if necessary. I don't usually dip off somewhere without an exit strategy. Thanks for the feedback. Happy Trails! : )
Hey, right-on...thanks Fancy. I have thought about them. I see Bud Nixon using them in a pinch, and I have a brother-in-law that likes them. Happy Trails. :)
Hey right-on Justin...thanks. The name of the song is Shoulder Closures by Gunnar Olsen and can be found in the free TH-cam music library. Happy Trails! : )
drew sorvik, right-on...I’m doing a little work on the Jeep right now myself. Hope to be back out there soon. You can hit me up on Facebook and maybe we can connect. Till then, Happy Trails.
Excellent camp spot, no noise no neighbors! Have you tried chains on your Jeep? When I live in Alaska I had chains for my lifted K5 on 35's. It was unstoppable. Used semi tucks chains cut to fit is the way to go!
Hey Schizzultz, I have a set of chains for 31" tires, but I need to get a bigger set. It's come up before and I've thought about it...thinking it's about time to look into it. Thanks for the input! :)
Hey Duane (Predator) good call. Yeah, I only aired down to around 16 or 18 psi (if I remember right) because I knew my travels we're going to take me back down to bare pavement on my way to my next location so I didn't want to take the time to air back up if I didn't have to. But if I had to I would of aired down more. When I got over to the road after Summit Lake I think I aired down to 6 or 8 psi to get through there. Good to hear from you...Happy Trails! : )
I agree, with chains it will go trough the snow like nothing. I used to work with Mowag Piranha 3c Infantry Vehicles (8x8, like US Stryker) as a platoon commander. One time, we were in the Czech Republic (exercise), quite hilly terrain, with at least 1 foot of snow. Without the chains our 8X8's became 18 tons heavy sleighs. After mounting only four chains on each vehicle, we could climb any steep and snowy hill. It was really impressive!
@@MonsterJeep Hey! your car is really amazing! im from Russia and I dream about this jeep. But it very expensive at us. New Rubicon costs at us 64,000 dollars(( Now I own Mazdas CX5 but I will sometime buy the jeep )
No monster jeep, nice rig bro n nice set up but you could use more clearence with some baha claws or mud terrain tires, seems you should"t be getn stuck in a couple feet.
I hear ya Charles...I just put a set of 37 inch Irok Super Swampers on it. Need to get these gears, taller springs and a couple other things installed. But as you know, snow conditions mean everything...it had been above freezing and raining all night and morning and it was above 40 degrees when I was up there. It was very soft and melting underneath. Thanks for your comment and for watching! :) Happy Trails!

Good call bansheedude69...it's a work in progress. :) I guess that shows you where I started at...it's a monster compared to the other jeeps I've had, so a friend called it that and the name stuck. (shortly after I started this channel I realized what you already know...lol) :)

Hey HenryHonda...thanks for the tip. Are you referring to the Duratracs? I've contemplated getting those...
what kind of mount is that for your phone
Here's a link to the one I have been using... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I58VAZS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It’s 12.30 here in the uk, meant to go to bed hrs ago, on my 3rd vid now...so a late night looms!
Why don’t I pause & go to bed?
Cus I don’t want to.. lol
Loving the vids. 👍
Hey, right-on Nigel...that's awesome. : ) Thank you, till next time...Happy Trails!~
Mud tires in snow, surprised theyg did that well. I'd like to see what snow tires would do as a comparison.
Right-on Steve...well said! :)
Monster Jeep Thanks and great video. We’re headed out to do some playing on Sunday.
Nice...yeah, conditions look good. Unfortunately, my timing is off this year. Need to get these high-line fenders installed this weekend so I don't rub these new tires.
Looks like you picked a good spot, given all the Forest Service road closures that happened on 11/20
I guess I got lucky...but good call. I hadn't checked yet, but it looks like there were a few early closures. We still have till Dec. 15th till the snowmobile restrictions kick in! :) Happy Trails!
Hey I love that rear rack you have. I have been trying to locate this system. Can you provide the information were I might buy it?
That would be a gas (pardon the pun) with deep snow and some of those TRAX for it ... wouldn't it?
For sure...right-on Layton, thanks for watching! : )
Looks pretty wet..... :) Bummer you didn't have me go with you in my 4x4 van. Looks like fun. Last time I hit larch mountain a couple years ago I pulled out 2 jeeps. ;)
consaka1 hit me up on Facebook, we’ll see if we can connect.
Супер,очень красиво...Снято классно..удачи вам...
awesome place :) it looks like Great Ocean Road in Victoria Australia
Hey, right-on Chris...thanks for the reference and thanks for watching! : )
Looks like he can go down hill pretty good, uphill not so much
Looks can be deceiving. ; ) Thanks for the feedback...Happy Trails!
Let me point out the obvious. That looks like a bunch of fun! LOL!
Good point! ; )
Great stuff man! Just outta curiosity what kind of tires you runnin?
Thanks Joe. In this video I'm running a 35x12.50R17 BFG Mud Terrain, but I just stepped it up to a 37x12.50R17 Super Swamper Irok Radial.
Id love to see if I could even fit a 35 on my van.
Nice! Looks like most of the other forest service snow roads were shutdown on 11/20
Hey Maxwell, what resource are you looking at? I looked on Mt. Hood National Forest web site and only saw a couple of small closures...
Oh, ok...just closed due to conditions, the way we like it. ;)
Where is the monster Jeep?
lol...I know, right!
Awesome video, keep up the good work! You ever considered getting a set of Maxtrax? I feel like they might come in handy in this terrain you wheel.
Hey, right-on...thanks Fancy. I have thought about them. I see Bud Nixon using them in a pinch, and I have a brother-in-law that likes them. Happy Trails. :)
Right-on Structureman Chop, good advice and a great tip! Thanks for the comment. : ) Happy Trails!
Subbed. Nice vid! Do you mind sharing the music from around the 3min mark, please?
Hey right-on Justin...thanks. The name of the song is Shoulder Closures by Gunnar Olsen and can be found in the free TH-cam music library. Happy Trails! : )
Thanks so much! Keep up the good work :)
Would love to tag along sometime. I need to get my lockers in befor I do anything crazzy
drew sorvik, right-on...I’m doing a little work on the Jeep right now myself. Hope to be back out there soon. You can hit me up on Facebook and maybe we can connect. Till then, Happy Trails.
GODS COUNTRY !!!! WOW
Good call al...thanks for watching. : )
Awesome video!!👍👍
Thanks Angel! :)
bonito video gracias
Right-on Pablo...thanks for watching! : )
Wish I had the money for a Jeep my dream car
Excellent camp spot, no noise no neighbors! Have you tried chains on your Jeep? When I live in Alaska I had chains for my lifted K5 on 35's. It was unstoppable. Used semi tucks chains cut to fit is the way to go!
Hey Schizzultz, I have a set of chains for 31" tires, but I need to get a bigger set. It's come up before and I've thought about it...thinking it's about time to look into it. Thanks for the input! :)
Chains are an absolute must to go into this kind of terrain in these conditions.
Right on Dan...thanks for the conformation! Thumbs up! :)
You need wider tires I had no problems in the snow with the K5 Blazer only on charlie Brown Christmas trees Lol. p s let more air out of tires
What not to expect from the nation that walked on the Moon
i would definitely put chains on traveling in that snow but great job
Right-on danny...I've been hearing that a lot lately. Gonna have to check that out. Thanks for the comment.
Hey, right-on Kris Van Mol...thanks for the feedback! : )
In which country this ?
One Soul this is in the Cascade Mountain range in Oregon, USA.
What cellphone holder do you have?
Here's a link to the one I have been using... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I58VAZS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Right-on Dmitry...thanks for watching! : )
@@MonsterJeep how much is this jeep?
Hey Dmitry, I purchased it with some modifications for about $27,000 and have easily put another 15 to 20 G's into it.
That jeep does good for a bone stock
Right...not bad huh? ; )
Шикарно очень шикарно просто супер.
Для такого экстрима нужно много силы воли . Вижу вы ездите часто один если нужна компания пишите составим вам компанию
Hey, thanks Valentin. I didn't understand the last part of your comment, but I still appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching...Happy Trails! :)
nice jeep
Right on abenzuoo, thank you! :)
Надо было оператора вязать, чтобы со стороны снял.
Try to not do solo runs especially in the snow. Stay safe man
Right-on slurpyman20, good advise...thanks again. :)
nice #1
Right on kc8to8! :)
Summer tires detected ) Try winter tires next
Right-on Alex...the set in this video are BFG KM2's, 35x12.50R17. I just put on a set of Super Swamper IROKs, 37x12.50R17.
I used all season road tires and a/t tires... winter tires much better on pressed snow (it happen when you go forward and back several times)
this is far from a monster jeep
Good call bansheedude69...it's a work in progress. :) I guess that shows you where I started at...it's a monster compared to the other jeeps I've had, so a friend called it that and the name stuck. (shortly after I started this channel I realized what you already know...lol) :)
He's referring to his payment.
Good one Jeffrey... : )
A great video some engine noise would be nice :) nevertheless good job
Right-on Hagop Leon...thanks for the feedback and thanks for checking it out! : )

Good one Ed...that's funny! :)
edbauer82 I love my explorer!!! But my jeep whoops on it anywhere 😜
Bring the exploder next time, it's always great to have friends on a run.
