My two cents: these days, Sweden and Finland are part of NATO. And they have taken drills with NATO forces for many years already. They should become involved, for this reconstruction to be 100% realistic.

@@gyozop Not today, but in story takes place in 2032 ;-). Besides, the fact that Sweden is not formally in NATO yet does not mean that it does not behave like a NATO member. At a time when this story is taking place, the joint Nordic air force will probably have about 150 F-35s and 100 Gripens. If we compare this with the production of aircraft in Russia (6 Su-57s per year), NATO should have no problem with establishing air dominance in the war in the Baltic countries.
Still, a fascinating story and I can't wait for the next episodes. :-)

The idea that Russia could go from the losses and incompetence of the full-scale Ukraine invasion to hyper-competent and logistically sufficient for lightning war in nine years seems a bit fanciful.

So annexation of Crimea and holding the east is losing? After NATO throwing everything but the kitchen sink at them. Half a million dead Ukrainians to about 40k Russian losses. What planet are you on.

Full scale war is mobilizing 8% of your force to deal with a regional threat? They mobilized less troops than our “policing action” in Korea and Vietnam. They also mobilized less than our war against Iraq and Afghanistan lol it’s funny that the US had over 200k troops deployed across the ME (in addition to NATO force of 50-100k) and still is losing ground daily. Begging for regional powers not to oust them.

This remains a fun form of story telling, but it also clearly holds Clancy’s deep love of a competent Russian (Soviet) military. It is easy to poke fun now that we have recent history as evidence, but as far back as the late 80’s and on NATO was clearly aware of Russian failures and weakness in terms of logistics and technology. These are well done and appreciated. I wonder though, considering the difficulty Russia has experienced fighting Ukraine, how realistic these outcomes are. • @TrangleC

Yeah, this really doesn't seem realistic at this point. Especially the way the Russian air force has been performing in Ukraine, any success they would have against NATO in this video series looks highly unrealistic.
The thought that there would be open war in the Baltics and NATO would only have 4 F-35 in Scandinavia the Russians can then outsmart is not just unrealistic, but utterly stupid.

This is great work, the plot is quite realistic. The scary thing is that the USSR / Russia have always considered a nuclear confrontation as "winnable". Their idea of de-escalation is to detonate a tactical or strategic nuclear warhead (most likely on a military formation or front) and THEN, de-escalate from there. As much as the West has always considered Russia an enigma wrapped in a riddle etc..., Russia has consistently misunderstood the West. Even now, Putin is constantly threatening nuclear escalation with the West as he continues to lose in the war he started with Ukraine.

    • @iana6713
      @iana6713 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

That is the fear, isn't it? Things go REALLY badly in Ukraine for Putin's forces, and he sticks two fingers up to the world by doing something like detonating a tactical nuke on, say, a Ukrainian military base. What then? What does the world do when they realise he's actually prepared to go that far? Hoping we never need to find out.

The idea that British oil & gas assets in the North Sea would be a primary target of Russian missile forces on the outbreak of a war with NATO is fanciful at best.
The UK really isn't that important any more. This is a former superpower that doesn't even have a functioning aircraft carrier force (yes, the UK has 2 carriers - but does not yet have sufficient planes and backup aircraft to equip them).
A war with NATO would very quickly take Russia into direct conflict with US carrier groups, masses of carrier-based aircraft, along with submarines and missiles. Given the potential NATO forces arrayed against them, bombing North Sea oil platforms and British ports would be a waste of ordinance.

The UK absolutely is a functional carrier nation, and is one of the most potent militaries in the world. Having 2 supercarriers, 30+ F-35s to go on them and a potent escort force makes them the 2nd most powerful carrier nation in the world right now. The closest being France, but who only has one carrier, and while they have 42 jets, they are all of previous generation models, not modernones like F-35.

The Baltic and the North Sea are now NATO homewaters. The Russians would be hard pressed to operate subs or fly unescorted bombers through to attack UK from here. A sub attack would more likely come from the South, Biscay area to mid Atlantic which has very little air cover and is a huge patrol area for naval forces.

You so not understand modern warfare. The UK's oil platforms produce essentially tiny amounts of oil and it is less every day. The correct target for Russian weapons are UK refineries or petrol distribution nodes. The goal, for victory, is to stop food transport. Surrender is not far behind that. Hitting an oil platform leaves all refined products intact and applies no pressure to the populace.
You apply pressure by starving the populace. Not killing random people here and there. That just extends the time food will last.

This series is way to kind to the Russians. A war with Nato would be like Ukraine, But on steroids and against the latest Nato hardware, troops and training that the western world can produce. Nato would still annihilate the best of the red army during the initial invasion of the Baltics. Followed by a Nato conquest of Belarus and a big chunk of eastern and northeastern Russia before they launched the first nuclear strikes. This series would have been over by episode 2 at the latest.
