How he treats Bao is what he thinks of himself. He’s very broken. And dangerous to others.
Johnny is trying to be his father and I don’t think he fully appreciates how much that relationship has shaped him. He learned to be cruel, cold, heartless and demean others from that relationship. Dad made him feel like trash, like he’ll never measure up, like he’s unworthy of love and compassion. So Johnny is trying to transfer all those bruises and all that brokenness to Bao.
In truth, I’m more disappointed with the show for green lighting this match when I know they knew he needed intensive therapy. Bao is a real person and she does not deserve to be abused emotionally and mentally like we’re witnessing.

It has been hard and draining watching Bao transition from being confident and happy to being unsure of herself. She really is doing everything and she is being broken down right before our eyes.I feel for her😩

This is not the case with every person, BUT, porn can sometimes create these hyper-unrealistic expectations of your partner-both sexually and relationally. It can shape your view of your partner's role in your life because it's all about self-gratification. When someone has the "audacity" to want you to satisfy them as well (emotionally and sexually), it can be an unknown trigger. Porn make you think the other person is there to satisfy you and you alone, and when you perceive they aren't doing that, your brain tells you they aren't for you and it's their fault. Although I'm positive there are SEVERAL reasons Johnny is behaving this way (all of which don't excuse his behavior), I'm almost positive the porn plays a role in it. At this point, he'd be better off with a blow-up doll until he can go to therapy SMH

Ryan is conflict avoidant. He’s not tiptoeing around Brett to spare her feelings; he’s doing it to spare himself from the discomfort of addressing an issue directly. He seems like the type to ghost the girls he casually date.
The other thing about Ryan is he’s emotionally unavailable and that seems to be a recurrent theme in his relationships. And he just lost his friend prior to filming so that’s got to be weighing heavy on him. No matter what Brett looked like, I don’t believe the outcome would have been different. Emotionally, he is not in the right headspace to nurture a new relationship, let alone a marriage.

On Jonny and Bao...it's very hurtful to see someone go into this experiment fully invested to end up with a jerk. My heart goes out to Bao. On a brighter note, it's a good thing that jerk Jonny gets exposed on national TV, which will ultimately ruin his chances of wasting anybody else's time. And in Bao's case, she will have so many options to chose from after displaying her dedication to the process and showing just how committed she can be in a marriage. Her true match is out there watching and waiting ❤
Rumor has it that Bao and Zack have been seen out together and may be dating. I'm not sold in them as a couple because Zack has his own issues to work on, but we'll see
I love that Gil says what he says to everyone else to Myrla as well. He's very honest with her and is not afraid of her or how she will respond and I think she also respects that about him!!

Bao deserves better, not to be compared to an imagined person in Johnny's head. Johnny brings so little to take care of Bao's needs.

And here I thought Jose was gonna be the Lil Chrissy of this season but Johnny was like “Nah, hold my beer.”This is the episode where Pastor Cal’s response to Johnny reminded me he’s a pastoral counselor and not a licensed DMF therapist. While his advice to Johnny was valid he failed to realize the difference in love languages. It’s clear Bao’s is acts of service by the 150 percent effort she was giving that went unrecognized by Johnny because it didn’t show up how he wanted it to.
I don't think anything regarding Bao will show up for Johnny. A difference in love languages is not the issue that needs to be addressed in their marriage. Johnny was mean and insensitive to Bao.

Ryan doesn’t want to communicate to Brett about her being high strung and messing because if told, those are things she could work on. But the biggest reason he doesn’t want to be with her is because he’s not attracted to her. Every episode it seems like he is pleading his case with everyone but Brett as to why he shouldn't like her (everything but the physical). I have a suggestion on the commercials. You guys are flowing and love the conversation. I know you have to get the commercials in so here is a suggestion. Record the full review and record the commercials separately and edit to insert the commercials and maybe you can add a video or a picture of the product. Just like any show. We're going to take a commercial break and be right back. You can do 2 commercials at one time and when you come back to the show has the same energy and flow before commercials. Just try it. I think you can do it.
They’ve done this before when they have celebrity guests. But they mentioned that when they flow the add into the conversation they have a lower “click off” or “skip” rate (something like that). Sponsors pointed this out to them.

I'm just watching this episode, and I did not know kevonstage was from NC! My kids went to Westover, and when you said the name of your school, I almost laughed!
Johnny has been harmed by his dad's judgment, critical nature and abandonment of the family. Johnny is following the same family pattern and doing the same thing to Bao.
Therapy. Now, Johnny.
Johnny is the PERFECT example of why God doesn’t always answer our prayers with a “yes”. Bao wanted Johnny for years but didn’t realize that he was never meant to be her husband and now she sees why. This relationship made me realize that the regrets I’ve had about past relationships not working out are silly. It was divine intervention keeping me from what could’ve been devastating to my psyche. I need Bao to leave immediately.

Physical violence is typically not just an event, it's the result of a process - a process of contempt, neglect, and disrespect.
