We're out here! I've said this in a HTT episode before, but often Afro-Latinos are pulled in two different directions where people want us to be either black or Latino, never both. Most of the time when you do this, you’re “in the zone” and can very easily get carried away. E.g.: use 10 ways to explain something when it could’ve been done with one line (what the B&B team was alluding to). When you’re creating - all of those are “your babies” in the moment they are all important to you. Until you distance yourself and look at it from a different point of view. I’ve done it when writing and then go through the editing process or when shooting videos. “Killing babies” has nothing to do with actual babies, however ANY creative, Anywhere in the world, will tell you their work is “their babies” - hence the phrase. So when we get serious about trimming 3 hours of content to 1 hour or 45min, we have to be brutal and let go of what we think are our “babies”. This is why all of our favourite / most impactful/ most moving pieces or art (whatever version)are: a phrase, a moment, a shot or a series of shots in a long movie - because we the creatives, had to “kill” what we thought were our babies were; most of the time just nice to have or our mental goings on. I did an essay in high school on Ex Factor by Lauryn Hill. The assignment was to pick a song, find the lyrics and break down the writing... This was in 2003.. lyrics weren't as easy to come by back then... had to pull out your trusty cd booklet.
My husband cried the whole time I came down the aisle and his best man was busy trying to get him to look straight and focus. Cried through his vows and made me cry ... He's such a punk 😂😂😂😂😂
Last season soured my excitement for MAFS cause it was so triggering, but watching Zach and Michaela has helped renew my faith in the show and process. My attention span isn't completely invested yet, but at least I'm open to watching. 🤷🏾♀️
