This is an eclectic mix of joke instruments and "proper" instruments and I am all here for it. Also...that "a lot of time to learn" for the theremin...buddy, you have no idea what rabbit hole you've just dove headfirst into. The theremin is capable of so many different sounds (everything from basic SFX all the way to fully operatic "singing") and is one of the hardest instruments in the world to learn how to play properly. I used to know someone who was a professional harpist who complained about how hard the theremin was...so yeah.
