I've been driving for about a year now, and yeah it's scary how many idiots there are. I've had a couple of near misses already with people cutting me off or just not seeing my car and pulling into my lane. Still, I love driving, but I wish people would pay more attention and clear their blindspots.

tahliarenee thanks for that. It is difficult to see on a small screen. A narrow bridge is also a good reason to slow down, particularly when it's not visible. If kids were crossing that bridge for example, they would likely have been struck.

I see this happening on my daily commute too at a particular intersection where the two inner lanes are stopped, then someone takes the chance to turn across the furthest lane hoping there isn't a car coming - such a risky move.

It's a laugh because it's safe that way, but who knows? Might save some lives.

I was in Russia in the 90's,after the fall of the CCCP . When I was back in OZ I was relating to mates how shit awful the Russians were at driving especially in their old Volgas ,ladas and second hand BMWs and Mercs From Germany. I notice nothing much has changed there ,especially the habit of driving too fast down the center of two lane roads or the confusion at intersections. At least the roads have improved under Putin .

I have never lived in Russia, but a few years back I drove a girlfriends grandmother from Petrozavodsk to Bryansk - we bought a Lada just for the occasion! We survived in one piece, and we gave the Lada to the grandmother. Her grandson wrecked it 3 days later haha.
I'm amazed at how many people fall asleep at the wheel and run off the road, like the last video. Or fail to stop at stop signs or traffic lights and cause accidents. Don't they realise they are driving a lethal weapon and they are responsible for the safety of everything else going on around them? That's why you have to pay attention to what you are doing, not the radio, phone or person sitting next to you but the road ahead, behind and to the sides, plus what any pedestrians are up to. Drive safely and keep left unless overtaking.

I still to this day remember getting handed my license by the examiner, and him saying 'congratulations, you now have a license to kill'. However, there are some states/territories that you are required by law such as the Northern Territory, this is understandable given that if a crash happens in a rural area, there are significantly less people around to provide help. Therefore stopping to provide help may save that person's life if they are seriously injured. In urban areas, this is not as much of a concern, as there are heaps of people around. I recommend you look online for the specific states/territories though. Generally speaking if you are able, then you should help someone, even if its just to dial emergency services if its a serious accident. Just think about yourself, if you were in a serious accident, you would want someone to see if you are okay and provide assistance, on that basis you should do the same for others or don't expect that treatment.

Things I’ve learned since watching these compilations: do NOT loiter on the left-hand side of a truck; too many fuckwits don’t seem to realise you have to give way to oncoming traffic; never assume all traffic has stopped at the red lights to your left and right.

They really ought to have a better system on roads like that where traffic stops, and people cant get through (over 4 lanes) safely. Thats one type of intersection I wouldnt want to try and cross (but some people will have to) - unless i was in a TALL car that could see over everyone else

Holy fuck there are some fucking lunatics on the road in this beautiful country, that’s why recently I have got full comprehensive insurance at a huge cost for the VS commodore I have after recently moving from QLD to Sydney , BTW insurance companies discriminate against LEGAL modifications which have been all ADR rule approved, no insurer would touch me end up my premiums per year cost $1300 with Shannon’s insurance, I then went around putting in a state of the art Blackvue front and rear camera, if you are going to get a camera system go Blackvue they are sensational, looking at these videos is justification for my paranoia, if any of you on the roads see an old VS commodore and you think because my car is old I am a pushover think again it is fully insured and I am watching you with state of the art cameras, I am also a mechanic that keeps his car in 100 % safety condition with upgraded brakes making the car stop on a dime . And that goes for police as well one reason I installed these cameras is some of the ways police pick on modified commodores as if we are an easy target where they can pull one over and make up stories, I have taken police to court before and won against what they thought would be easy pickings with the B/S they make up, people honestly on the roads you need to really protect yourself it’s no game or joke out there
Firstly just let me qualify myself by saying I ride motorcycles drive cars and work in a semi truck. for hours on end. And some of this stuff is so common place on our roads it just ain't funny anymore. when will folks realise that hovering around the heavy haulage vehicle is never repeat NEVER a good idea. either hold back or pass him safely and keep the heck moving. Most of what i see on these kinds of videos is just plain ignorance of just how poor the visibility is for large vehicle drivers. So until designers come up with better visibility for big trucks, just don't hang around along side of them and you won't get accidentally run over. Oh and I offer absolutely NO reason for the semi at 3:43 to be pushing a car over the lights, other than total inattention. Not all good.
After watching a lot of these compilations, I am most confused about the drivers who decide to hit the horn right as the accident happens. What are you hoping to achieve? There were even a couple of examples where hitting the horn has contributed to the accident, because instead of taking evasive action the driver is on the horn. Save the abuse until after you avoid the crash!

There are so many of these and they seem quite suicidal when the cam vehicle is a large truck. I'm nearly immunized against reacting to the Russian ones because I figured it was to do with the rash of suddenly new car owners over there. Clearly it's happening in Oz too.
As I said in my post, he didnt give the guy much room to brake on, footage such as that can depending on state get both drivers charged for the accident, the driver behind for failing to give ample stopping space, and the guy that merged in and gave little room. Also, insurers would see that footage of the cammers and the fight would start there as well.
I hope all these people with dash cams not involved in the accidents are kind enough to stop and give their info. so it will help the people not at fault with their insurance claims

The clip at 3:07 piqued me... I instantly saw the red car was going too fast to stop, and anticipated a rear-end shunt with possible wreckage spilling into the dashcammer's path. This suggests our truck driver wasn't too quick to hit the brakes, and I wonder if the collision might have been avoided with better anticipation. Conversely, I am aware the Australian trucks are somewhat larger than UK ones, and thus require more stopping room for the weight. Either way, the clip shows the true value of a Dashcam; however you wish to interpret the evidence, the facts were absolutely clear for the insurance companies to see and argue over!

Driver training is not required in Australia, people learn from untrained parents and uncles...and the cycle goes on.

Holy fuck there are some fucking lunatics on the road in this beautiful country, that’s why recently I have got full comprehensive insurance at a huge cost for the VS commodore I have after recently moving from QLD to Sydney , BTW insurance companies discriminate against LEGAL modifications which have been all ADR rule approved, no insurer would touch me end up my premiums per year cost $1300 with Shannon’s insurance, I then went around putting in a state of the art Blackvue front and rear camera, if you are going to get a camera system go Blackvue they are sensational, looking at these videos is justification for my paranoia, if any of you on the roads see an old VS commodore and you think because my car is old I am a pushover think again it is fully insured and I am watching you with state of the art cameras, I am also a mechanic that keeps his car in 100 % safety condition with upgraded brakes making the car stop on a dime . And that goes for police as well one reason I installed these cameras is some of the ways police pick on modified commodores as if we are an easy target where they can pull one over and make up stories, I have taken police to court before and won against what they thought would be easy pickings with the B/S they make up, people honestly on the roads you need to really protect yourself it’s no game or joke out there

Firstly just let me qualify myself by saying I ride motorcycles drive cars and work in a semi truck. for hours on end. And some of this stuff is so common place on our roads it just ain't funny anymore. when will folks realise that hovering around the heavy haulage vehicle is never repeat NEVER a good idea. either hold back or pass him safely and keep the heck moving. Most of what i see on these kinds of videos is just plain ignorance of just how poor the visibility is for large vehicle drivers. So until designers come up with better visibility for big trucks, just don't hang around along side of them and you won't get accidentally run over. Oh and I offer absolutely NO reason for the semi at 3:43 to be pushing a car over the lights, other than total inattention. Not all good.

After watching a lot of these compilations, I am most confused about the drivers who decide to hit the horn right as the accident happens. What are you hoping to achieve? There were even a couple of examples where hitting the horn has contributed to the accident, because instead of taking evasive action the driver is on the horn. Save the abuse until after you avoid the crash!

At first I thought he'd no brakes and the throttle stuck on - surely no one would be that stupid. Then I watched the second time and realized he'd slowed down a bit before calling in to the house. What a total knob. Seeing as he was lucky asF not to kill someone, I dunno about jail time, but he should have been fined thousands and banned from driving anything more powerful than a pushbike for 5 years.

As I said in my post, he didnt give the guy much room to brake on, footage such as that can depending on state get both drivers charged for the accident, the driver behind for failing to give ample stopping space, and the guy that merged in and gave little room. Also, insurers would see that footage of the cammers and the fight would start there as well.

@resistance1207 Before the cammer changed lanes it was clear as day that the black car was gaining on the row of cars in front of it so of course they were going to slow down, you complete tool. As for stopping in under two car lengths from "under 60", wtf are you on?
The clip at 3:07 piqued me... I instantly saw the red car was going too fast to stop, and anticipated a rear-end shunt with possible wreckage spilling into the dashcammer's path. This suggests our truck driver wasn't too quick to hit the brakes, and I wonder if the collision might have been avoided with better anticipation. Conversely, I am aware the Australian trucks are somewhat larger than UK ones, and thus require more stopping room for the weight. Either way, the clip shows the true value of a Dashcam; however you wish to interpret the evidence, the facts were absolutely clear for the insurance companies to see and argue over!
