I've only had one thing worse, back around '92 - but thankfully, at a lower speed. Tradie's van was rolling over after getting hit in an intersection, and was rolling straight at me as I sat at the red. Only I was on a motorcycle. Never had time to even jump off, but thankfully, it stopped a couple of metres from my front wheel and just showered me in glass instead. Needed fresh undies that day. :-P

I would think the car turning into the traffic would pay for the car in the right lane, and the car in the right lane pays for the car in the left lane. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

The drivers causing crashes in this video are hard enough to watch.... but what about the drivers that literally have zero concept of what’s going on around them... nearly all of these people drive like every one around them is a perfect driver and have no concept of predicting road behaviour.
As well as lack of attention, I suspect some of these avoidable accidents are ego based - rather than yield or slow down, they'd rather be legally correct, even if it means letting someone crash into them.
How many hours of driving do you do in a week? How many crashes do you have? That's why people don't react. They're driving, not watching a compilation of videos where crashes are the outcome. They've spent hours *not* having some suicidal fuckwit try to take them out, so the expectation is that the car creeping forward will stop, or the truck trying to change into an empty lane will change into the empty part, not accelerate into another car. I'm also not sure how someone is meant to stop from 50km/h in under 1 second when someone runs a red light or fails to give way from stopped. Or suddenly finds a car sliding sideways into theirs while already stopped. The way the OP has written it, the victims of the rear endings are to blame too...
@@Tech-49 I don't know about the Australian License system but where I'm from we start off on little bikes. I'm 17 right now and only allowed to ride a 125cc with 15hp. 18 year olds are allowed to ride 48hp bikes and after at least 2 years of experience they can upgrade to a bike of their choice. It's a good system no one is riding bikes he can't control and you learn the basics on small, controllable bikes.

So there are some 250s that cannot be ridden, such as all the Aprilia RS250 models. No performanc modifications are allowed. I ride a Yamaha XVS650 that, at max, will hit 140k, but I can keep up with club mates on weekend rides. In New Zealand we also have a program called Ride Forever. It is a full day course riding and getting critiqued. You can then go for a Competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) which shortens the time between learners and restricted or restricted and full.

I'm 28 and just started on a cb125r (13hp), it's a nice bike but a bit gutless, perfect to learn on though I guess. I can see why they have limited it so much, it's far easier for a young person to afford a decent performance bike compared to a performance car.

I know from the United States that a motorcycle license requires no practice whatsoever there and a lot of new riders don't know the basics like countersteering and eat asphalt as a result. @@chris746568462 I feel you, trust me. I'm on a 125 with 15hp for over a year now. It gets really frustrating and boring sometimes, overtaking can become impossible at some occasions. But on the other hand I see way too many learners that are not even able to control the 125s (someone just died on a 125 overtaking in a blind corner were I live. Was just 16 the poor bloke) can't imagine some of them on bikes with 40hp or more. They should restrict your license by personality and your riding skills but I'm sure that this would unfortunately require way too much work for the DMV.

On weekends, many Bunnings stores do public sausage-sizzles outside their front doors. You can buy a sandwich with a barbecued sausage, fried onions and sauce on it, which is typically known as a "Bunnings snag".
And going back and pausing at 0:20 you get a good shot of his knee and you can clearly see a black lining inside the jeans which suggests to me they are Kevlar lined and you can see a seam running across the knee which is a pretty good indicator that they also have pockets for knee inserts. Whether or not he has inserts you can’t tell but I’m going to guess no.
Had to watch it a few times, but you can see he is trying to use the breaks and his bike is not slowing down. I think he decided to go to ground once he realised his bike wasn't slowing down any time soon.

I’ve got a story from me old man, wayback when, in the early days of Kevlar, and kevlar jeans had the reputation of being “stronger than steel”, he got himself a nice pair for his runabout mountain fangs. Needless to say, after a few crashes and a twice written off Ducati 996, they were starting to get a little ragged. One year, he was over at the Philip Island MotoGP and the vendor of his jeans was in the exhibition hall, they saw his torn to shit jeans and said “Looks like you could really do with some Kevlar!” He responded “Yeah, these are Kevlar, I bough them off you a couple years ago!” When they realised he was wearing their jeans, and that it looked pretty bad for their brand that some boomer in his late 40’s has torn them to shit, they gave him a complementary pair “on the condition you don’t go out dressed in those anymore” He still has that pair in a shoebox somewhere and will show them off to guests whenever they say he’s exaggerating his stories. His 996 didn’t survive. His Kevlar jeans got torn to shit, but he still made it out alive, every time.
Consider that this right side steering not left then it makes more sense, these are the same accidents that rip mirrors of parked cars just harder, people don't watch out and leave there line

@@elrey8876 this is actually a great idea, only problem is that it's another distraction to have to watch the road, mirrors, load ect and have to watch a small screen. They should put sensors there with an audio warning, problem is that it costs money. Most trucks do however have a small window in the bottom of the passenger door or have a downwards facing mirror from the door to see if someone is still there. It's just that even with those mechanisms, trucks with bonnets (noses) are longer and those current mechanical don't reach that far, so anything the same size or smaller than the nose can't be seen by the driver (especially if there more to the front of the nose tham the back of the cab, can be seen in the clip with the motorcycle and truck at the traffic light)

@@badcompany922 In New Zealand and Australia the licencing system allows learners and restricted rides to ride motorbikes of up to 660cc AND a power to weight ratio of 150kw per tonne. So there are some 250s that cannot be ridden, such as all the Aprilia RS250 models. No performanc modifications are allowed. I ride a Yamaha XVS650 that, at max, will hit 140k, but I can keep up with club mates on weekend rides.
In New Zealand we also have a program called Ride Forever. It is a full day course riding and getting critiqued. You can then go for a Competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) which shortens the time between learners and restricted or restricted and full.
@@badcompany922 I wish the learner legal bikes would increase to 250 or 300cc if you are over 25. I'm 28 and just started on a cb125r (13hp), it's a nice bike but a bit gutless, perfect to learn on though I guess.
I can see why they have limited it so much, it's far easier for a young person to afford a decent performance bike compared to a performance car.

I know from the United States that a motorcycle license requires no practice whatsoever there and a lot of new riders don't know the basics like countersteering and eat asphalt as a result. @@chris746568462 I feel you, trust me. I'm on a 125 with 15hp for over a year now. It gets really frustrating and boring sometimes, overtaking can become impossible at some occasions. But on the other hand I see way too many learners that are not even able to control the 125s (someone just died on a 125 overtaking in a blind corner were I live. Was just 16 the poor bloke) can't imagine some of them on bikes with 40hp or more. They should restrict your license by personality and your riding skills but I'm sure that this would unfortunately require way too much work for the DMV.

@James Flowers It's the name of a national chain of hardware stores, you can see the name on the large building at the end of the clip that I time-stamped. On weekends, many Bunnings stores do public sausage-sizzles outside their front doors. You can buy a sandwich with a barbecued sausage, fried onions and sauce on it, which is typically known as a "Bunnings snag".

And going back and pausing at 0:20 you get a good shot of his knee and you can clearly see a black lining inside the jeans which suggests to me they are Kevlar lined and you can see a seam running across the knee which is a pretty good indicator that they also have pockets for knee inserts. Whether or not he has inserts you can’t tell but I’m going to guess no.
Had to watch it a few times, but you can see he is trying to use the breaks and his bike is not slowing down. I think he decided to go to ground once he realised his bike wasn't slowing down any time soon.

Needless to say, after a few crashes and a twice written off Ducati 996, they were starting to get a little ragged.
One year, he was over at the Philip Island MotoGP and the vendor of his jeans was in the exhibition hall, they saw his torn to shit jeans and said “Looks like you could really do with some Kevlar!”
He responded “Yeah, these are Kevlar, I bough them off you a couple years ago!”
When they realised he was wearing their jeans, and that it looked pretty bad for their brand that some boomer in his late 40’s has torn them to shit, they gave him a complementary pair “on the condition you don’t go out dressed in those anymore”
He still has that pair in a shoebox somewhere and will show them off to guests whenever they say he’s exaggerating his stories. His 996 didn’t survive. His Kevlar jeans got torn to shit, but he still made it out alive, every time.

@@kulaak-krii Yes!!!! I've gotten into the same habit! My dad (a truck driver) made sure that I knew about the blind spots even before I got my learners permit. They should actually make that a question on the tests and explain why it's never a good idea to sit there.
@@elrey8876 this is actually a great idea, only problem is that it's another distraction to have to watch the road, mirrors, load ect and have to watch a small screen. They should put sensors there with an audio warning, problem is that it costs money. Most trucks do however have a small window in the bottom of the passenger door or have a downwards facing mirror from the door to see if someone is still there. It's just that even with those mechanisms, trucks with bonnets (noses) are longer and those current mechanical don't reach that far, so anything the same size or smaller than the nose can't be seen by the driver (especially if there more to the front of the nose tham the back of the cab, can be seen in the clip with the motorcycle and truck at the traffic light)
