The one thing I like about this chic, Hilda Moraa is she is SUPER SMART! Love her or not, she is running a proper business and she will be successful. She is the only one who called out on Tesh, her courage is admirable!
Hilda seems cool. I don't understand why investors still give Tesh Mbaabu capital. Considering Meta is planning to roll out Meta AI on all their platforms that can do what chpter does plus more, i wonder how Tesh intends to make money.
Another truly awesome and amazing episode. I am always learning new things from you guys and your r guests that enables me to understand the entrepreneurship space better I just wish there was a way to have a Q&A with your guests..... food for thought 🤔💭
Hey am new to this channel and so far am loving it. Let me point out something i think it might help the channel scale if taken positively. The intro was so long and it was just a summary of the whole video. I feel like the intro alone is enough and people might not want to watch the whole video. Again the intro is not leaving us in suspense to an extent to want us to dive deeper to know more in the video. You can refer to a UK podcast called(The Diary Of A CEO [DOAC]). The channel scales up day after day and it get the attention it deserves, people watch the whole episodes even though most of them are over 2hrs. The intro alone makes you want to know more and stick around to the end. It has a lot of suspense and also he persuades people to subscribe on every video with the channels stats. In the current world of tiktok with short videos, people are finding it hard to watch long videos like this so we should know how to attract them in such podcasts. Am in IT industry and once i came across this channel i loved it and had to subscribe coz it updates and help me know the current state of IT Industry in Kenya. And more people should know this channel. Thank you and i wish to see us grow bigger.
We actually agree with you, thought the intro was long. We have trimmed the intro (should reflect by morning). Thanks for the feedback and the support, we are grateful.
I love the long intro. In a tiktok world of short attention spans, the long intro helps me know that the rest of the video will be super valuable. It is a new way they discovered for hooking people like us.
Also a viewer of the channel that looooves the videos and while I agree with a tiny bit of the sentiment, I disagree with the conclusion. I agree that this intro was longer than usual. I don't think that is a bad thing and I definitely disagree that your audience will watch the 5-10 minute intro and think they have got what they need from the video. Are there people who will watch the intro and stop there? Yes. But I don't think these people are your core audience. There is such value throughout the video in knowing the various guests both personally(-ish) and professionally plus the personalities of Wangari and Orwa. Ata mkiweka intro ikuwe 2 hours, tutawatch video! Of course, this is only an individual's opinion. Let us know what you find when you look at the analytics. Does viewer drop off after the intro increase when intros are really long?
The first decision WANGARI made for 9to5 with Wangari was to make CHRIS a co-host, the second decision was to change 9to5 with Wangari to Startup Soko, and the third decision was to invite HILDA. Great decision so far.
Bigger lending brands do not have the monies she has raised. Branch Microfinance Bank Kenya for example have no such monies available. 7 years in and she is struggling to explain their positioning, this maybe another fail story.
So unfortunate we term swindling investors as success. I mean, what are you selling? Anyone can create anything close to a business, influence investors, and sell the so-called business to another unsuspecting investor. If the business is so successful, why not run it?
You're awfully and terribly wrong! You're either a troll, ignorant or demeaning her efforts (maybe because she is a woman). 2 things: First: Not "ANYONE" can create a business and influence investors, and if it was as easy as you say it is, everybody plus their friends would be doing it. A fintech business like hers has a lot of critical things going on behind the scenes. You're dealing with real money, not just fancy floats and strings in a database. One slight mistake in either the tech, regulatory, or business operations could cost you heavily. Therefore not everyone can run a business, leave alone a fintech which is way more complex. Second: You think investors wake up one random morning and put money in a business? Nah mate, they have a very lengthy and tiresome process, it is real people's money being invested, therefore VCs are super cautious. The process involves deal sourcing, deal screening, partners review, investment committees, due diligence, term sheet etc. Even after all this is done, it can take months to years to get the actual money in the bank. If you don't believe me, go start yours and in 7years come back to this comment and tell us how it went.
@abiriafrica if you've ever been involved in creating a business that uses the term "Raised" funds, you'll have just a little bit an inch of what that implies to investors. "Raised"
@abiriafrica If you are in the business of "Raising" capital (a professional name for go-fund-me) and selling businesses, you're in the long-con game. Trust me.
Thanks for watching, show us love - donate to Startup Soko - paywith.nobuk.africa/6mt6mwzovc
Thank you, Melvin, well received. Your support keeps us going!

Dear Hosts, please get into numbers for these interviews. A peek into their performance numbers like balance sheet, loan book, etc....
Like this if you wished the captions would have been a bit more consistent formats.
The nickname should be the collector 🙂🤑. Great episode. 57:20

The intro is too long. 6minutes?
Longest introduction of a video
I agree, very long intro. Tumetrim kiasi - Producer 1 Creator 0

This is the most savage comment 😅🤣🤣🤣. Wacha kusema ukweli bana 😂😂.
