Eiichiro Oda was born on January 1, 1975 in Kumamoto City-Japan.
As of May 2014, he is 39 years old.
Oda claimed that he resolved to become a manga artist at age of four in order to avoid having to get a "real job".
9. What inspired Oda to start One Piece:
Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's work (notably, Dragon Ball) and aspired to become a manga artist.
He also mentioned that his interest in pirates was sparked by the popular TV animation series called "Vicky the Viking".
Oda began his manga career in 1992 at the age of 17, when his one-shot cowboy manga Wanted!
won second place in the coveted Tezuka manga awards.

In 2002, he met Chiaki Inaba, who played Nami during the Shonen Jump Fiesta and the two started dating

When Eiichiro Oda was hospitalized in 2013, Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto's mangaka) visited him at the hospital and witnessed Oda drawing next chapters of One Piece while being bedridden!
he does not need to drawing because he earns approximately 2 Billion Yen (about 25 million U.S Dollars) from the royalties related to One Piece each year!
3. Murder threats
in 2007 Eiichiro Oda received one hundred threats (via e-mail) from a woman between September to December.
The woman's husband was an assistant at Oda's office who had been dismissed,
the woman was arrested in 2009.

And he would like to take the same path Toriyama did and create short-story manga

"I messed up! I put up with my illness for too long, and my condition got worse. I apologize to all the readers who were looking forward to the next chapters, as well as to all the Straw Hats who were really looking forward to wreaking some havoc. But I'm currently going through some painful treatment. The story was just about to take a new turn, so I really really wanted you all to read the next chapter as soon as possible. I know how long two weeks can feel for all the shonen out there, but please wait for just a bit longer."

The 21 hour days took a toll on his health, the chain smoking and crappy eating didnt help
I'am a fan of Akira Toriyama too, and also Oda of course.
Since age of 7, I win some drawing and painting competitions.
At age 9, I started to draw my own short (12 pages) comic. All my classmate likes it, they read it until finish, and requested me to create more.
At age of 12, I read Akira Toriyama comic (Dragon Ball), and draw some of Akira Toriyama manga characters. I found no one of my friends didn't like my draw, so I gave them all my draw for free. But then some of them ready to pay me to draw more, so I draw and they paid me as their promised.
Akira Toriyama and all those support was inspired me to become a manga artist. But when I started my first chapter (at age of 15), my dad didn't like it. He want me to be a doctor or lawyer. It really broke my heart, and makes my didn't touch my drawing pencil for several years.
And then, when I was 19 years old, I draw a picture of my girlfriend as her birthday present. She likes it, and I'm happy. But sadly she leaves me a month later. That's the last time I used my pencil to draw.
And now I am 36 years old, still reading and watching what Oda doing and achieved. I'm happy for him. :)
I hope Oda make a new character called "Slim Shady"..his power would be dissing another pirate until they lost their spirit

His favourite is 70s music, whitebeard's ship's name is moby dick, that's a led zeppelin song, whitebeard has a moustache, the only moustache in led zeppelin is of the drummer john bonham, he died of alcohol overdose, so his hair didn't turn white, so whitebeard has a white moustache, the '70 live performance of zeppelin in Royal Albert Hall has over 10 minuites of drum solo of the drummer bonham, people say his drumming is like the thunder which sounds like thunder and whitebeard's devil fruit is somewhat the same. They always stayed together and disbanded after bonham's death. Like the whitebeard pirates. Coincidence, I think not!!

Being a fan of One Piece, waiting for the next episode is always the worst part of it. That said, not at the expense of the creator's health. I deeply admire Oda San's dedication in creating such wonderful stories and characters. I met my husband because of Ace, and we named our daughter Robin. Just like Robin, we jokingly call her the Devil's Child. Without One Piece, my life could've been very different. 7 years together we still manage to watch the anime with each other. Same for the live action Netflix series that is now released. Thank you Oda San!

Seriously ... If we want to see the rest and the end of One Piece, this man needs at least an entire year of vacations just relaxing, doing sports, resting and taking care of his body. I'm afraid it might not happen because he's WAY TOO DEDICATED to his craft to let an entire year pass by without drawing anything. Some inconsidetate fans might also start blowing up his messages to ask for more because they would not want to wait that long for the next episodes. He is married with a daughter, I wonder how much time he spends with them. This is difference between working for a living and living for your work. I bet oda would still write and finish one piece even if he isnt getting paid. This is why one piece has manage to stay consistent for 2 decades. Other mangakas who tried the same either run out of idea or just went on a hiatus because they were all burnt out. Oda only had 2 weeks off during those 20 + years and that was because he was sick lmao.
