- New C8 Corvette takes to the track here at Willow Springs Raceway in Southern California. This is my first track day with the mid-engine Corvette! The car is prepped with the Chevrolet recommended track alignment. How does the C8 compare to other cars at the track? In this video you will find out!
NOTE All drivers and cars featured in this episode were all at the track just to have fun! Nothing in this video constitutes a true head to head race. This is episode ONLY presents amazing footage of a new C8 Corvette and GT3 RS on track driving with each other, and does not represent the true maximum performance of either vehicle. What a refreshing video! Love seeing the C8 on the track! While other TH-camrs are putting on loud exhausts and reving in underpasses, you’re showing what the C8 can do on the track. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Charley Close those tuner guys can’t drive a car properly on a track. They like to make as much noise and smoke as possible. Ruining beautifully engineered cars

I really like your video For-one thing it much better watching someone who paid $80,000 just to burn rubble When they could have just bought a muscle car and themselves about 30 or $40,000.
That's because MOST TH-camrs (Not all) are just rich kids or posers that don't own the car they are reviewing and have no driving experience. Just big talks because they did some bolt on mods with their cars in high school and read lots of Motortrend or tuner magazines and they think their ready to be expert reviewers. *Sigh*

Com'on, these modern supercars practically drive themselves on tracks. Way more impressive to see someone wring out a non nanny car like a stripped Miata. Check out "the slip angle" channel. The guy with the itb miata and rx8 can drive.
@@Pube83 Hell, I'm impressed with all of them. There were plenty of opportunities for a lesser-skilled driver to go off-road in this video. And on the topic of Miatas, one of these days, I'm gonna get a wild hair and buy a mint-condition 1st-gen model. I can clearly remember the first time I saw one in person. I was a rather impressionable teenager at the time. God, I wanted one so bad.

Screenshot the speedo in some of those turns. Not going as fast as it looks. One turn is at 57 mph. On the straight its only 135ish tops.

I'm paused about half way through this video. I just wanted to thank you for the sound. I'm so glad this doesn't have music instead of raw car sound. IMO, nothing ruins a car video faster than playing music as the only thing you hear.

You chasing that Porsche and passing it was the best nail bitter video on TH-cam! Like others said your not measuring how long your burnout was, your taking the car to its true performance levels to the fullest! I enjoyed every second of this video because most TH-camrs definitely don’t show this type of documentary. Truly a speed addicts dream!

Alejandro Escobar idk man the 765lt weighs under 3,000 pounds and is gonna have 765hp. Maybe more bcuz mclaren understates their cars. At the same time tho, the Zr1 is just a whole other beast compared to the stingray. I’m 50/50 at the moment. Can’t wait till those cars come out.
Yaseen Ali well I’m a C7 Zo6 owner and haven’t ran into many Mclarens so I would worry. 99% of the time I’m the king of the road. Granted I am not stock but, who is now a days. Willow springs is a fast track and it’s tough even for fast cars.

This kid Austin came out of nowhere and takes no prisoners. I've been watching different car channels for over a decade - most have gimmicks, overly artistic, lots of funny commentary etc, a few are quite good. This guy brings something totally new to the field - RAW INSANE VIDEOS, real driving (no stupid stunts), top cars, new takes (like cross country in C8 etc). Holy shit, I remember the GT350 Vs GT500 canyon drive (much better than anything from Smoking Tire, and they have been doing canyon drives forever) - this is another hit from him . My pulse just went up, and I watch plenty of MT videos with Randy the Rocket (Randy is one of the fastest, but this video is much more aggressive, less artistic and more exciting then any from Randy I have seen). I also appreciate how down to earth this guy is.

Hate to say it, but that GT3 RS would spank him if the driver was serious (and a decent driver). The car is that much better than the base C8, but at almost half-million dollars it damn well better be.

I saw my first C8 today in person. Going down the road. An orange one and i got a picture. Ill never forget this day. Crazy how a car can do that but ive been waiting for this car for years!

I usually watch these videos halfway, content with the overall; but this one, I did not even contemplate stopping. Even the end commentary was entertaining. The dance between the two gorgeous cars was mesmerizing and topped off with those melodic roars just kept me zoned in. Thank you for this.

If a Z51 package C8 can trail closely behind a GT3... imagine how a Z06 and ZR1 C8 will be...
ZR1 might be a hybrid, I dont know about that but Z06 will be N/A and 650 hp and going to have a Dual Clutch transmission, and it will spank ass!!!

Just remember, by the time the C8 Z06 or ZR1 are released, there will be an entirely new 911 GT3 as well.
Amateur drivers though... not an indication of the cars performance, just their abilities + car performance. This wasn't a race, it's a track day.

I sold Corvettes in the early 90’s.
The world stopped laughing at them back then (Zr1 etc.) but THIS CAR?? This thing is finally legit. The GT3 is a monster by any standard. This “Vette” kept in the Porsche’s rear view and OVERTOOK it when the time was right. The drivers of both cars are clearly very talented.

Eventually passing and gaptizing him your first time in a completely new and different car than you are familiar with, well done. It makes me happy to see some love racing action, down here in Georgia, every motorsports related event has been cancelled...forever it seems like. So, thank you.
Finally came up with something to put on my bucket list, order a C8 Z51, sign up for all the C8 classes offered at Spring Mountain and buy a season pass at my local race track (better do it before I get too much older).
Rick Holland ... and you still have a full GM powertrain warranty even on the track. I bet Porsche don't offer that.
I'm a lifelong Porsche die-hard, but man - that new Vette has got game. Especially at a third of the price of an RS. Can't wait to see what the N/A Z06 will be like.

I spent a track at Willow Springs a few years ago and enjoyed the day very much. There were some rules though and some of the folks commenting may not be aware. There was a lead car at the front and no passing was allowed... period. I didn't mind especially though. We were fortunate enough to have Bob Bondurant as a guest speaker at our ZCar Convention and as one of the lead drivers on the track day. As we were pulling out onto the track, Bob asked the track Steward, '"How fast are we supposed to go?" The guy just shrugged and said, "Whatever's safe." Bob & I looked across at each other and laughed. I pointed down the track and said, "Quick... before he changes his mind!!" We all took off and had a great time. The thing you had to keep in mind was that in our group, there were several 510's and other smaller cars mixed in. They topped out at a bit over 110+ and if you couldn't pass, it made for a very frustrating day. I was driving a 350Z so I made a point of getting out right behind the leader. That was about the best you could ask for.

No idea y but let me be the first to say with all the techno gizmos in that car whats the point. I miss cars that u actually had to be skilled to drive
I would complain - I’d much rather drive a manual for fun, than putting a car into drive and leaving it to the dual clutch automatic transmission to handle on its own, even if that meant I was fractions of a second slower - I wouldn’t care - all about the fun.
Dual clutch automatics are for professionals race car drivers, rush hour commuters, and bench racers as far as I’m concerned.
@@machotoejam i actually have a c7 with a manual....even with that i like to turn everything off and actually drive the car. I dont claim to be a pro its just more fun. In a street car fun is the name of the game.

@@machotoejam fun is subjective, you can have fun in a paddle shifting modern mclaren or DCT M3. People seem to forget there is a car that is attached to the transmission, and driving skill is more than just knowing how to shift gears. Companies put dual clutch in their cars to be faster and efficient. It's why they offer PDK only in the GT3RS, and I can tell you without a doubt that car is fun :)
God, those shifts of that double-clutch transmission are instantaneous ... super fast.

I’m sure the Chevy folks were losing their mind watching this vid. This was the best coverage of a C8 to date. You DROVE the car like a banshee on the track and then hit the streets and kept making your way home. This car is a legit American super hero. You are a legit wheelman too! The in car coverage of the cockpit and the front looking camera view was amazing! Seeing you work the wheel was an excellent aspect of how the car really performs. The in car also gave a good insight into the transmission and its value to the car. Maybe the best C8 video so far and I hope you get over a few million views. Actually let me help with that. Sharing this with my dad who is a racer. He is gonna be impressed!

Finally a C8 in a real track day setting!!! Good Sht!! Fantastic car, clearly fantastic driver too. Same driver in C8 and GT3 RS, GT3RS wins every time...but C8 is far from a slouch.

Actually rotated quite well considering how shallow he was entering some of the corners. It doesn't need any more torque just some more up top.
I believe they're gonna release a twin turbo 4.2 DOHC v8. My theory is they tested it in the 2019 Cadillac blackwing v8

Great driving!! I’ve never really been a fan of the Corvette, but this new 2020 model is impressive.
If anyone who has a performance car hasn't hit the track, they should. It really fine tunes your capability to manage the car at high speeds. Most of my mates like to talk up their car but dont have the balls to track with me.

Two things I loved about this video: First. the fact that the C8 was a good bit faster than the GT3 at less than half the cost, and second, the LCD rear view mirror with an uninterrupted camera view. That feature should be standard on all cars.

I think the best part of the video was mixing in the footage from the stands, not just 100% in-car footage.
I make the following comment as someone who is a die-hard Corvette guy and past/present owner of a C5 Z06 and C7 Z06: It will take another level of the C8 to exceed the GT3. While the C8 stays close to the GT3 here, it is really just the constant traffic ahead of both cars that keeps them close. As soon as the track opens up, the GT3 starts pulling away. I suspect the GT3 would be several seconds per lap faster than the C8 on an open track.
Road and Track showed the C7 ZR1 to be faster than the GT3 so I am confident the C8 generation will eventually get there as well. We all know this is just the beginning of the C8 and there is much more to come.
This is what people should do. Be a responsible person who tries to race in safe environment. Nice POV by the way. Keep it up 👍👌. New Corvette is a beast
I've raced for years and not easily impressed. Never in my wildest dreams would I have believed a stock Vette stomps a GT3. The GT3 is the benchmark, track focused, holy grail of street racing. With a few tweaks its a full blown race car. Amazed to see the Vette walk a GT3 like that, stunned.
That GT3 RS must have been shitting himself at how many times you’d catch back up to him after dealing with lappers.
Especially after realizing how much more he paid for the gtr3! Ha Ha!

I had the opportunity several years ago to ride in a race version of the GT3. Holy hell that car was fast. Rode with a semi-pro driver and a pro driver. Pro guy ran a Jagermeister sponsored orange GT3, never have my organs been so violently tossed around. Loved every minute!👍
