Your thumbnail caught my eye, so I clicked play. You were right. I live close to the Dutch border, so your excellent English with the Dutch accent caught my ears.. So I watched on. I have to say the video production and editing were outstanding. Very hard to believe that was your first video the standard was so high. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey, the little bit of bad language as this is exactly how I speak. Loved the e-maps popping up with the rout plan. The whole contents was so balanced. Don't say "you have a lot to learn", you are already there. Well done. Loved the brief equipment summary at the end. 58 minutes very well spent. Thank you. Only comment is, I see a guy call Mark with similar objectives traveling on an old Honda NX650. He seems to travel a lot lighter. I'm sure you will find what's best for you. Certainly going for the Iron-Ar5e Touring Award. Long days in the saddle kind of spoils things the drone breaks are good excuses to rest...and the occasional coffee stops as well. Fun video, enjoyed watching it. Minuses, just break it up into smaller segments, that's all.
Is it your music? Nice. And the editing as well...because you have lovely video footage. So, basically it ticks all the boxes. Sound, video, music, story..well done
Thanks ! 😃 No it’s not my music. I prefer to but then it would take me such a long time to make that video, and this one allready took me 100 hours 😬 mostly because I never worked with edit programs before, so that was a lot of hours on TH-cam searching for how to videos 😂

I started riding bikes on my 60th birthday and am 66 now, my son and I have ridden in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and all over the UK I cant wait for the covid restrictions to be lifted for our next adventure (thinking about Scandinavia), I have subscribed and cant wait to see your next trip, until then 'keep the shiny side up'
Hi Roland from Portstewart in Northern Ireland. I enjoyed watching your video and look forward to the next one. I also follow your country women Itchy Boots, she makes good trips also. I have taken my bike to Annecy a few years ago, stayed in a camp site up on a hill and went into town for a take away pitza before moving on the next day. Pretty place and sometime I may return. I have booked a sailing to Ijmuiden in June 1st for a trip to Nordkapp but with the current restrictions it may not happen. Look forward to your next travels. Best Mark Steen ( Dutch name!)

Really enjoyed this Roland. Love the dry sense of humour and laughed when everything was crap in the tent lol. Next vid could you include hotel prices and the days mileage please. Loved the time lapse of putting the tent away and packing up. Never seen that done on a tour vid before

Enjoyed your video trip. In 1980, my wife and I rode across Canada from Nova Scotia to British Columbia on a 1979 Gold Wing. I'd like to make one suggestion to make your trips easier and that is . . . pack lighter and take less "stuff." You need a tent that you can set up in minutes not hours. Cook if you have to, but pack a light stove and "nesting" pots and pans. Light and small beats all. Cheers. We've been to Europe twice, loved it both times.

Yes, I wanted it, but since it was my first video I really had no clue how to do that. Ive made some attempts but it looked bad lol so I gave up on that. 😂 now my knowledge about video editing is a lot better so the new video’s will hopefully beat the first one :)
Hey Roland! I saw you with your band Vannstein back in 2019 in Essentho, Germany and I also took a lot of pics of your gig. Nice to know you're a biker too. I have so much ideas for cool places to ride to. It is my dream to visit the "Sad Hill Cemetery" from that great Westernmovie "The good, the bad and the ugly" in Spain. It is about 1750 kilometers from Essentho. Maybe - if you like - we could do that turn together? ;)

I just spent the last hour enjoying your video. The scenery was beautiful, the music was spot on, and your words gave insight as to why you headed out on this adventure. Your mom would be proud of what you accomplished. I'm in the US and I'm going to attempt the same thing in the spring. I'm retired so I have no clock. Excellent video and commentary, really enjoyed your take on a solo motorbike trip. So much so I’m gonna try it myself in July (pick up my Tiger 900 in June). I’m to lazy to even attempt camping so B&B or hotels are more my style, more expensive I know but showers/bath a comfortable bed breakfast and even an evening meal on your doorstep (literally). It's funny how life pans out. The loss of your beloved mother (RIP) spured you on to take this journey which was a journey that I loved taking with you. Being ex British Army I have visited the Normandy Beaches many times. So from sorrow comes a unique vlog of a journey that I was loving tagging along. Well done. Don't make this your last.
Congratulations for this entertaining project that I enjoyed viewing. I found the motorcycle aspect of the trip fascinating because the subject was personal and about the locations visited. Too many tech vids proclaiming which motorcycle brand and option are best, or how many brands can people buy to make their comparisons eliminate the beauty of the people and lands visited. It is clear that you would be a fantastic friend to share a pint with. Best of good fortune in your future efforts. My condolences in your memories of your mom.

Wasn’t sure as to how I’d find your film when I saw it was an hour long, but I needn’t have worried because once I started watching it I simply couldn’t stop. Hi Dave, thanks for your great response :) I saw many adventures on TH-cam but most of the time it was one long steering cam. I wanted to make something different what tells it day by day. I think I succeeded reading your post :) Sadly most viewers click away in the intro, but since this was my first movie ever, I thought it was nice to introduce myself :) ive tried to give every day a different “feel” as how I felt that specific day. That’s the closest way I could find to share the experience. :) however, this summer there will be more new adventures so stick around😃
I spend most summers riding around North America, and many winters riding in S.E. Asia. Thinking about a trip around Europe in a year or so. I really enjoyed riding in Greece 3 years ago. Covid and my age ( 70 ) will tell the tale.

Beste Roland, Wat een mooi verslag! En prachtige drone-beelden. Het toeval wil dat ik komend voorjaar/ zomer een motortrip van drie maanden ga maken. Door Europa. En ook ik was van plan om eerst richting Duinkerke te rijden, om daarna enkele landings-stranden uit WW2 te bezoeken. Ik was dus extra geïnteresseerd in jouw route. Ik rijd na Annecy echter verder, tot ongeveer Noord-West Spanje (Picos d' Europa) en dan over/ langs de Pyreneeën naar de Middellandse zee. Dan de kust volgen (Natuurlijk wel 'even' de Route Napoleon en de Grand Cannyon du Verdon meepikken) en dan via Noord Italië (Jawel, de Alpen en de Dolomieten) richting Croatië en misschien wel tot Athene. Ik ben nog volop aan het plannen en globale routes aan het maken. Ik heb sinds vorig jaar een R1250RT, dus mijn bagagemogelijkheden zijn vergelijkbaar met die van jou. Ook ik neem een kampeeruitrusting mee, dus een extra roltas op de bijrijdersplaats is wel noodzakelijk. Kamperen is een fijne manier van overnachten. En een stuk minder duur dan hotels. 'k Heb mij meteen maar even geabonneerd op je TH-cam-kanaal, want ik zie dat je nog veel meer hebt ge-upload. En ik ben erg benieuwd. (Toen je op de thuisreis op de A20 afslag Reeuwijk nam, dacht ik: "Woont hij nou zo dicht in de buurt?". Maar je reed via N11, N207 en N231 naar Nieuwveen. Toch nog een beetje uit de buurt (Ik woon in Gouda) Groeten, rij veilig, Anton

Door dit soort filmpjes ben ik dus mijn motor theorie aan het leren om uit eindelijk zulke reizen te kunnen maken ik vind het helemaal geweldig dus dank je voor het filmpje heb er zeer van genoten en flink wat notities gemaakt van plekken waar ik zelf ook heen wil rijden!! En met je Engels is helemaal niets mis! Het is duidelijk en verstaanbaar ken genoeg mensen in Amerika en Engeland en die kunnen wat van jou leren qua Engels praten

Great work on the video, well done. Annecy is also my favourite place in France, if you go back, make sure you go to the end of the lake and up the mountain. The view of the lake is breathtaking. This year I'm riding my 24 year old Valkyrie from the UK to Lake Garda, pandemic allowing of course.
@@TheRideWithRoland Another place for you to consider is the Grossglockner in Austria, it's motorcycle heaven. Instead of camping, have a look at the mobile homes on campsites, they're a little bit more expensive than camping but you have all your home comforts in them. A company like Eurocamp are very flexible for short stays.

But I will explain later in a dedicated video about that. Here you can buy every bike you want, in any color and from any year you prefer. But it’s not really Harley country here 😬

I have to say the video production and editing were outstanding. Very hard to believe that was your first video the standard was so high. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey, the little bit of bad language as this is exactly how I speak.
Loved the e-maps popping up with the rout plan. The whole contents was so balanced. Don't say "you have a lot to learn", you are already there. Well done. Loved the brief equipment summary at the end.

In 1995 this was my first solo ride. First day Hamburg - Annecy 1250km, R80GS. With a tent directly at the lake. It was a breathtaking view next morning, lake with mist and fisher...
Its now more blue the lake. They stopped some water channel to it a few years ago and now it’s amazing. You should visit it again :)

Certainly going for the Iron-Ar5e Touring Award. Long days in the saddle kind of spoils things the drone breaks are good excuses to rest...and the occasional coffee stops as well.

Thanks ! 😃 No it’s not my music. I prefer to but then it would take me such a long time to make that video, and this one allready took me 100 hours 😬 mostly because I never worked with edit programs before, so that was a lot of hours on TH-cam searching for how to videos 😂

I started riding bikes on my 60th birthday and am 66 now, my son and I have ridden in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and all over the UK I cant wait for the covid restrictions to be lifted for our next adventure (thinking about Scandinavia), I have subscribed and cant wait to see your next trip, until then 'keep the shiny side up'

Hi Roland from Portstewart in Northern Ireland. I enjoyed watching your video and look forward to the next one. I also follow your country women Itchy Boots, she makes good trips also. I have taken my bike to Annecy a few years ago, stayed in a camp site up on a hill and went into town for a take away pitza before moving on the next day. Pretty place and sometime I may return. I have booked a sailing to Ijmuiden in June 1st for a trip to Nordkapp but with the current restrictions it may not happen. Look forward to your next travels. Best Mark Steen ( Dutch name!)

Really enjoyed this Roland. Love the dry sense of humour and laughed when everything was crap in the tent lol. Next vid could you include hotel prices and the days mileage please. Loved the time lapse of putting the tent away and packing up. Never seen that done on a tour vid before

Enjoyed your video trip. In 1980, my wife and I rode across Canada from Nova Scotia to British Columbia on a 1979 Gold Wing. I'd like to make one suggestion to make your trips easier and that is . . . pack lighter and take less "stuff." You need a tent that you can set up in minutes not hours. Cook if you have to, but pack a light stove and "nesting" pots and pans. Light and small beats all. Cheers. We've been to Europe twice, loved it both times.

Yes, I wanted it, but since it was my first video I really had no clue how to do that. Ive made some attempts but it looked bad lol so I gave up on that. 😂 now my knowledge about video editing is a lot better so the new video’s will hopefully beat the first one :)

Hey Roland! I saw you with your band Vannstein back in 2019 in Essentho, Germany and I also took a lot of pics of your gig. Nice to know you're a biker too. I have so much ideas for cool places to ride to. It is my dream to visit the "Sad Hill Cemetery" from that great Westernmovie "The good, the bad and the ugly" in Spain. It is about 1750 kilometers from Essentho. Maybe - if you like - we could do that turn together? ;)

I just spent the last hour enjoying your video. The scenery was beautiful, the music was spot on, and your words gave insight as to why you headed out on this adventure. Excellent video and commentary, really enjoyed your take on a solo motorbike trip. So much so I’m gonna try it myself in July (pick up my Tiger 900 in June). I’m to lazy to even attempt camping so B&B or hotels are more my style, more expensive I know but showers/bath a comfortable bed breakfast and even an evening meal on your doorstep (literally).

Congratulations for this entertaining project that I enjoyed viewing. I found the motorcycle aspect of the trip fascinating because the subject was personal and about the locations visited. Too many tech vids proclaiming which motorcycle brand and option are best, or how many brands can people buy to make their comparisons eliminate the beauty of the people and lands visited. It is clear that you would be a fantastic friend to share a pint with. Best of good fortune in your future efforts. My condolences in your memories of your mom.

Sadly most viewers click away in the intro, but since this was my first movie ever, I thought it was nice to introduce myself :) ive tried to give every day a different “feel” as how I felt that specific day. That’s the closest way I could find to share the experience. :) however, this summer there will be more new adventures so stick around😃
I spend most summers riding around North America, and many winters riding in S.E. Asia. Thinking about a trip around Europe in a year or so. I really enjoyed riding in Greece 3 years ago. Covid and my age ( 70 ) will tell the tale.
Would love to ride to greece. Its a long trip but it’s on my to do list :) never stop riding sir :)

Wat een mooi verslag! En prachtige drone-beelden.
Het toeval wil dat ik komend voorjaar/ zomer een motortrip van drie maanden ga maken. Door Europa. En ook ik was van plan om eerst richting Duinkerke te rijden, om daarna enkele landings-stranden uit WW2 te bezoeken. Ik was dus extra geïnteresseerd in jouw route. Ik rijd na Annecy echter verder, tot ongeveer Noord-West Spanje (Picos d' Europa) en dan over/ langs de Pyreneeën naar de Middellandse zee. Dan de kust volgen (Natuurlijk wel 'even' de Route Napoleon en de Grand Cannyon du Verdon meepikken) en dan via Noord Italië (Jawel, de Alpen en de Dolomieten) richting Croatië en misschien wel tot Athene. Ik ben nog volop aan het plannen en globale routes aan het maken.
Ik heb sinds vorig jaar een R1250RT, dus mijn bagagemogelijkheden zijn vergelijkbaar met die van jou. Ook ik neem een kampeeruitrusting mee, dus een extra roltas op de bijrijdersplaats is wel noodzakelijk. Kamperen is een fijne manier van overnachten. En een stuk minder duur dan hotels.
'k Heb mij meteen maar even geabonneerd op je TH-cam-kanaal, want ik zie dat je nog veel meer hebt ge-upload. En ik ben erg benieuwd.
(Toen je op de thuisreis op de A20 afslag Reeuwijk nam, dacht ik: "Woont hij nou zo dicht in de buurt?". Maar je reed via N11, N207 en N231 naar Nieuwveen. Toch nog een beetje uit de buurt (Ik woon in Gouda)

Then: this is a fantastic video and very good for everyone looking into going back to the road and the wonderful world of motorcycle travelling, like me, or everyone just thinking about beginning their motorcycle journey. Also very useful for those still undecided between camping or staying in hotels, cheap or not, at the end of a day's riding, again like me, and I'm pretty sure many more out there too! Door dit soort filmpjes ben ik dus mijn motor theorie aan het leren om uit eindelijk zulke reizen te kunnen maken ik vind het helemaal geweldig dus dank je voor het filmpje heb er zeer van genoten en flink wat notities gemaakt van plekken waar ik zelf ook heen wil rijden!! @@TheRideWithRoland ben al aan het kijken net al filmpje gekeken voor de oordopjes met bluetooth zend kastje dat vond ik al geniaal bedacht dus ga zeker zoveel mogelijk bekijken.. alle tips zijn mooi mee genomen zodra ik het motor rijbewijs heb en een goede toerbuffel die bij mijn lengte past

@@TheRideWithRoland Another place for you to consider is the Grossglockner in Austria, it's motorcycle heaven.
Instead of camping, have a look at the mobile homes on campsites, they're a little bit more expensive than camping but you have all your home comforts in them.
A company like Eurocamp are very flexible for short stays.

Yes a drone gives that extra view. My upcoming travel video’s will have much more spectacular drone shots because of the help of a third party program to control the drone. But I will explain later in a dedicated video about that.
Here you can buy every bike you want, in any color and from any year you prefer. But it’s not really Harley country here 😬
