  • This is the Creality Falcon 2 laser engraver and cutter.
    This was 22 watt Falcon 2 unit was sent to me by Creality to test out.
    Now, this is not the normal kind of tool I'm used to dealing with, but I do love trying out something new.
    I am not familiar with laser engravers, so I was a little nervous about testing this out and figuring out how to work it.
    I shouldn't have worried. This unit was so simple to set up and use.
    Literally only needed to take it out of the box, screw on some feet, slide on the laser, and start cutting.
    This is a fantastic piece of kit, very user-friendly, very easy to use, and very powerful. And this is only the 22w laser. They also have a 40w laser.
    1 mistake I made in this video is the maximum cutting capacity. It is not 6mm but actually 15mm. My mistake was for not fully reading the spec sheet or manual.
    For the price of this unit, I was expecting it to run quite slowly, be very loud and not overly accurate, especially with curves.
    But apon opening the box, I knew right away my expectations were wrong.
    This thing cuts so fast and moves so smoothly and accurately.
    You can tell how smooth and accurate it is when cutting curves or circles. CNC units like this can not actually move in a curve. They move the laser in a zigzag motion using very small small steps. A smoother curve requires a smaller step. The smaller the step, the greater the accuracy. As you can see from cutting the circular jigsaw, this moves seamlessly.
    I am very impressed by this falcon 2 engraver and see why lasers like this are becoming so popular with hobbyists and small businesses.
    Once you start, you are always looking for and thinking up new projects make.
    I know I'll be using this unit more and more, as I was only planning to do a quick unbox and test using the micro ad card.
    But I actually went out and purchest a brand new laptop so I could start making my own projects on it. Plus, im very tempted to buy rotary roller attachment for engraving cylindrical items.
    But I think I'll have to master the lightburn software more first.
    Check them out. Well, worth the money of your looking to buy a laser engraver.

    The 40w is a beast! I mark tool and stainless steel with mine and it’s a gift to use and the results are outstanding 👌🏻You could easily mark tools and parts 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🍺

    Great informative video Dean! I actually have the XTool S1, but haven't had the chance to do much with it yet. Your video has inspired me to take the plunge and learn it properly. Thank you!

      My daughter purched the Creality Endor 3D printer and like the laser cutter it's a nice solid machine but
      what a 💩 of a thing to calibrate and she had help from a friend who was quite experienced with the same model. Nice to see the laser cutter doesn't have the same annoying issue.
      The Falcon 2 is falcon cool! Look forward to seeing some of your projects in the future Dean.
      If you can put a image onto the piece of wood, you can make a customised jigsaw puzzle for your boys.

      It's dead easy, either download files yourself, or have a go at making your own.
      Using the lightburn software is a little more tricky, But Once you start it becomes quite easy.

    A 3D printer would be a good addon to the shop, when there is a need to fix some broken plastic, but then again you need to play with 3D software to make it fit.

    Hi Dean, I want to go into a cordless platform but I hesitate between Bosch pro, HiKOKI and Makita. What are the positive and negative points on these three brands and your overall recommendation ?

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bosch are good, but don't have as big a platform and have not kept up up with brushless tools.
      Hikoki is very good, and very repairable, but parts cam be very difficult to source and also a lot of tools are hard to find.
      Makita is the brand I recommend the most, as it's a good all round brand.
      Very good 18v platform, massive selection of tools, very good performance and are reliable and repairable. Just don't buy the nail guns

    Why would Creality send a brilliant tool repairer a laser engraver. I don't see the connection a machine like this has to tool repairs. Great machine though.

    • @rodpatient9
      @rodpatient9 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    • @rory9174
      @rory9174 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rodpatient9 I know that. What I meant is usually sponsors will target TH-camrs providing content connected to a product they want to promote. Creality should have sent Dean their 3d printer. Now that would be handy for tool repair.
