It was a sad December when we said our Goodbyes to Keith at Smile but at least he is now reunited with Lady June, I wonder if David will carry the mantle of his late father onwards.
At first I thought it was just undercoat paint. It's great to see another 69 but this isn't my favourite...69012 for me. Nevertheless, another cracking video. Happy New year!
I really appreciate the brilliant video's you have posted in the last year (2024) and I absolutely love the drone footages you have done also, especially around Toton and Basford Hall..... No matter what the weather, your there filming the action and I really take my hat off to you for going out of your way to go the extra mile..... I'm considering getting myself a spotting scope (60×60) for the purpose of Toton because I don't think my binoculars (10×50) would be adequate to see the numbers on the side of DB livery locos because the numbers are much smaller.... Please would you give me your expert advice and opinions please.... Much appreciated and I wish you a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year to you... With kindest regards.
Thanks Nigel - Grateful for the kind words. I’ve not used one of the scopes you mention myself however I know others who have them and they have always been complimentary about the views they provide. I’d be pretty sure you’d be making a good choice buying one. Have a great New Year yourself 👍
@@trainsplanes Thank you so much for your support and advice.... Please keep up the good work with your videos, as I find them thoroughly enjoyable to watch.... The spotting scope is specifically going to be used for Toton as it's not an easy place to see the numbers from the embankment.... My local busy station is Westbury, but alas, network rail are carrying out extensive work on the track layout until the end of January and therefore any movement is extremely limited.
@@trainsplanes nice vid but just cant get excited by these things really, think i liked the 56s too much in the day to have any affection for these things
Original contract is for 16: so two more. It’s always possible for a couple more to be converted, under a new contract, as long as environmental regulations don’t get in the way
@MichaelCampin The wheelslip control system had issues. Fortunately that is being replaced by the excellent EMD system as part of the class 69 rebuild, so they should actually produce slightly more tractive effort from slightly less horsepower.

Only two more to go (on the original contract). I wonder how long they will take, given the current sluggish pace…
Is 56081 still in the sidings? Has its rebuild begun yet?
So it looks like the last few are not fitted with translation kit like 008 - 013 🤔
Are there going to be anymore of them after 014 or is that the quota
2 more for GBRf to come after this one - The possibility of one more after that also.
@trainsplanes cheers for that

What date ?
Yesterday 31/12/24 👍
How many 69s are going to be made in total

No thanks they were total Romanian Crap and look like Class 47 wannabes
Only four out of 16 being rebuilt were Romanian-built. The rest were built at Doncaster
@andrewreynolds4949 but the wheels were shite
