Reposting my explanation: This joke is built on a common grammatical mistake in Toki Pona. "lon" is a preposition, so it can take a phrase directly: "mi lon ma", "I'm on the ground" But new speakers will often say "mi lon e ma", trying to say "I am at a place" but actually saying "I make a place exist." The sentence with the mistake, e, actually has a meaning- it's grammatical! Just not super common to hear. So the joke is, one person says they make a planet exist. I ask if they meant they were on a planet... And no, they really meant they make a planet exist!
translation for anyone who doesn't speak (much) toki pona: stick figure guy: hello jan Kekan San: hello! who are you? stick figure guy: i created the world >:) jan Kekan San: WHAT?! you mean you live *on* the world right? stick figure guy: no. i CREATED the world >:D world appears. then explodes. 😌 explanation: in toki pona, "e" implies the direct object- the thing the verb is directly acting on. because "lon" can be used as a preposition, "mi lon ma" would mean, "i exist on the world". so pretty much, "mi lon *e* ma" would imply that "lon" is an action being done to "ma"- and because "lon" covers the meaning of "existence, truth" etc etc, this would mean "i brought the world into existence". so now you know! ^_^ I think that explanation is correct, but correct me if I got anything wrong :P
I knew somebody would bring this up lmao I couldn't think of an iconing 'appearing' sound I considered the earthbound teleport, the string sweep from the stickbug memes, and a few others; none felt right
From the limited knowledge of toki pona that I have, this is what I got so far: They're located on Earth but the the way it was said doesn't make sense in toki pona... I think, idk..
@@soIzec yes, because he said "mi lon e ma" and the "e" here indicates that "lon" is something done to the subject "ma". What it means is something like "I cause the Earth to exist" which doesn't make sense
