Gundam Battle Operation 2 Network Test: Beginners Guide to Supports!

- This video is a guide to playing the support class in the Gundam Battle Operation Network Test on Steam/PC. It should still be applicable to console players though. I will be using the examples of GM Cannon, Full Armor Gundam and Gundam GP04 to show you the basics of support play and how their combos work. As always, if you have any questions I am eager to answer them in the comments below.

Ok, because i'm a support main I have some experience to share with those of you who are just starting down the path: Your team is just as bad if not worse then the enemy. Now I know that there are mythical beings out there called "good teams" but most of the time I play, there are complete muppets on my team. They treat the game like it's COD and think they are the main character. And before anyone asks know you are not the main character either. Now, I know that some people will say "play whatever you find fun" that's a lord of horse hockey. You need to work with your team to achieve the goal. That means no running off thinking you're going to be able to 1V4 the enemy team. You need firing angles so make use of whatever terrain you can, and if you hit someone in the back the least you can do is take a moment to say sorry. I've had times where teammates will hit me and say nothing. That really brings my piss to a boil. What I'm trying to say is, you can play whats fun, just play with your team. This goes for everyone including support mains!
Hi, new player from the network test, already played 12+ hours of the game these two days, lol. I found I really like the Support class mechs, and out of the rated matches that I had, my favorite was the Zaku I Command Type. Playing it with the Bazooka is so much fun, being around the frontline with the Generals to stun and pick off the enemy frontliners. Good learning these tips and general game sense!
thats how most good supports play
if it can downswing after a boost (balancers or in space w soace affinity) and has good stuns staying w your gens and keeping stuff they arent focusing on stunned and downed is the best tactic
otherwise just help focus down whatever the team or nearby teammate is
That is great to hear! I think once you get to higher ratings and stuff that the Zaku 1 Commander+bazooka sorta falls off, but there are definitely suits that play very similar but just more effectively.
You will probably like the GM Sniper Custom (ML) in the full game, it can carry a bazooka like the Zaku 1 Commander but also has the skills to melee more effectively, along with strong shooting.
before i watch i just wanna say thanks for the video, as most of my favorite suits happen to be in the support class, my all time favorite being the Kshatriya i figure i should get used to my role before the steam launch.
I just hope that 4 stars like Kshatriya are reasonable enough to get on the Steam port.
I really enjoyed this video. Been able to apply it to my regular support play on the PS5. Even landed first place in the recent match after watching this. It's up on my channel...using the Jesta cannon. I tried using a general in a clan match and was told I need to be more aggressive and to watch your videos. But found a lot more, so thanks for the videos.

Great guide. Maybe a small suggestion for the newer players (like me) would be displaying the UI portrait and name for the MS you're showing during the initial Pros/Cons overview just to help identify them in a list. The initial selection for MS' is a little overwhelming.
Also, since you seem to be pretty experienced with the game already, a Tier List video for the different catagories would be very helpful. It's discouraging not knowing whether or not you're getting invested in a bad MS.
people play lower tier suits and can do things w them easily if they are skilled
certain suits def are the meta given BB lovers powe creep but w a proper comp certain suits can be absolutely nasty and go beyond their general meta tier
raid and gens are the most common support being the least common in 5v5 heck sometimes people dont even run supports
its map and team comp dependant
theres a solid chunk of people who stream the game daily or post vids
on yt and twitch if u wanna ask questions but dif creators have dif takes depending on their playstyles
some love raid and gen and are hyper aggressive
some are more reserved
i generally run a more aggressive support and guerrilla if my teams down so i dont get dog piled and can chip people down and bait till my team comes back then u stay w them focus enemies down or stun and down anyone they arent trying to mob
keep an eye up for avengers streams or just check around
any suits u get from training missions btw are solid suits don’t dismiss them
@@Nomadic_Gaming I was mostly using the Heavy Geara Doga and swapping to the Gerbera Tetra when we seemed to have too many supports. The Tetra seemed excellent, but the Doga was hit or miss depending on the map and how aggressive the enemy Raids were.
I had fun, but the Free to Play model always comes with a lot of slow grind content, I just wasn't sure if investing the time in the hangar was worth it for the Doga. Doesn't matter now though, the test is over.

@@hoop6725 yeah once full game drops getting the suits to at have complex expansion unlocked for more parts slots always helps
I used to do a tiermaker list for this game on Reddit and Discord, but I might move onto a video format for a tierlist. It would be a lot of work with how many suits are in the live game though lol, maybe I would make it a series going over each cost individually.
@@avenger1_gbo260 do a top 3-5 maybe 10 if u want for each cost and class type to simplify it
or just do a big stream one day going over each suit and giving it a rating based on say general stats skills and usability
can add time stamps to the uploaded stream later for reference for people

It will come back eventually in a more full form. Just dunno how long they will take for that.
Do raids and general focus their range weapons on the legs and not the body?
Well every suit generally wants to focus on the legs. The only reason you wouldn't want to target legs is for certain MS which have the Special Leg Buffer skill, which can decrease damage taken when hit in the legs by 10-25% depending on skill level. Though this skill is typically only found on larger MS, and you can still aim to break their legs even considering this skill.
It's sad that the network players missed out on the good banners.
I really need to stop and read every unit's perk before deploying for testrun since every unit plays differently
honestly
easiest support to run 550-700 that can consistently hold up and isnt as slow as other supports so its an easier transition from general play is the full armor 7th
good base damage weps
good reloads and overheat
decent speed and thrust
has balancers for melee downs or feints into downswing/tackle
solid dmg range and stun
good slots especially high cost w unlocks and a shield
can buy all costs asides 700 for dp
its alot more forgiving then the gpo4 w its high overheat and bad sub wep (one stun per mag)
very very well rounded suit for support
FA 7th is definitely stronger but for a newbie it might be slightly overwhelming. I think they can definitely transition from gp04 to 7th though, just using gp04 as a training suit.
@@avenger1_gbo260 eh w it being more a sniper suit w bad cooldowns on weps i consider a bad newbie suit as they may be panic firing or going in too hard w it
fa7 having nice lenient reload and cooldowns and good weps all around lets them have a bit more flexibility if they are still spam happy to me but they do act similar in that stun knockdown and stay w gens is your best bet w gp04 being able to snipe w its range
So starter suits has no Zeon suits? I can't wait till the servers up on this 31st May. 😆
Well you can adapt whats here to basically any other beginner friendly suit. Many lower cost supports have this combo of sub weapon cannon into primary weapon machine gun/beam gun. So playing Zaku Cannon and GM Cannon is basically the same thing.
