According to the Official Release of the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles”, Ricky Wolff is verified as the lead singer on the single, My baby loves lovin.
The liner notes published on the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles” :
“Contrary to popular myth, we are assured that the lead vocals were performed by Ricky Wolff, with Tony Burrows doubling him on the chorus.”
Ricky Wolff is the lead singer on White Plains' My baby loves lovin and Tony Burrows is one of the backup singers singing on the chorus as shown on this TOTP show.

True, but the gentleman singing or lip-syncing lead in this TOTP appearance is producer Roger Greenaway, who you also see as one of the back-up singers on the TOTP appearance of Brotherhood of Man with the song United We Stand, which DOES have Tony Burrows as the male lead.

That may have been his reason for not singing lead in this, but this is not the original soundtrack to this video. Roger Greenaway who is singing lead in this video actually did sing in this performance. Look for it on YT. Same video with more of a brownish tint. His voice is not as good as Tony's but still decent performance.

Anyone 55 or older can appreciate what I'm talking about. After late 80's the music stopped. 1 reason for that and I hate to say this, but the Jews ruled the industry at the top, when they found out comapct discs could be copied in the late 80's and they couldn't make a fortune on them, they stopped trying. Anyone that disagree's with me , fine you can, but think a bit on what i am saying. Albums couldn't be copied and thus they made a fortune on them and re-buying when old ones got scratched. It's so sad that 20 year blockbuster of years of music will NEVER be duplicated ever again. I just thank God I was Born In the 50's and was able to be apart of those golden years.!

This was the era of "studio bands" and Tony Burrows was the ultimate studio band singer. Here in the US, he had hits with four bands (Edison, Pipkins, Brotherhood of Man, White Plains) within six months in 1970, and sang lead on the greatest Beach Boys record they never made, First Class' "Beach Baby" in '74. It's fair to also note Ron Dante, whose "Tracy" with the Cuff Links and "Sugar, Sugar" with the Archies went big in "69; "Sugar" forced a tie with the Fifth Dimension's "Aquarius" for Record of the year here. So much for studio bands.

That's great information, thanks. I was a kid and teenager in the 60s and 70s (born in 1957) and those decades were such a great era for pop music. Okay, some of it was simplistic (e.g. Bubblegum) but the melodies, arrangements and playing by, as you point out, studio session bands in many cases was top notch. Today's formulaic 'pop' or 'RnB' is nowhere near as good and almost bereft of melody. And so called modern RNB is not Rhythm and Blues, it has no blues in it.

White Plains was an off-shoot of The Flower Pot Men. Neil Landon was replaced by Ricky Wolff in early 1969. It was Ricky Wolff who sang lead on the studio recording of this song. Ricky didn't want to front the band on TV, so Roger Greenaway took over. The band members remained basically the same, as the Flower Pot Men backing band morphed into White Plains. The liner notes in Cherry Red Records' White Plains compilation has the true story of White Plains. And that's because they interviewed the band members, not Tony Burrows. Tony has been continuously lying about this for decades. Roger Cook even confirmed this in a podcast last year.

Ricky Wolff was the real lead singer on this song (Tony doubles him on the chorus). The song’s writer/Producer Roger Cook confirmed this in an Oct 2017 podcast interview. Phil Hendricks of Cherry Red Records also confirmed this with Decca. Tony singing lead is a myth that’s gotten out of hand because of his popularity. In the ‘90s Tony claimed it was a co-lead with Rick. I don’t believe he has specifically claimed to have done a solo lead on the song, but he does seem to quietly accept the full credit given to him during interviews. If you compare this with other songs Ricky sang lead on, it’s quite obvious.

That's true. My Baby Loves Lovin' on the A-side and Show Me Your Hand on the B-side. Both songs are sung by Ricky Wolff. He sang lead on this hit single but not many people know of him.

That’s Tony Burrows voice on the recording singing lead not Ricky Wolf!

@@prezakid9 White Plains producer Roger Greenaway, in an official letter written and signed by him, confirms the lead vocal on the record is by Ricky Wolff. In Wolff's absence, Roger Greenaway sang the lead on TOTP. Tony Burrows sang backup with other members. This video is dubbed to the studio recording. You can google the Roger Greenaway's letter on wikipedia.

Tony Burrows sang the lead vocals on several other one-hit wonder songs under different group names, Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" (February 1970); White Plains' "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (March 1970); The Pipkins' novelty song "Gimme Dat Ding" (April 1970); and The First Class' "Beach Baby" (July 1974). He also sang lead vocals on The Brotherhood of Man's "United We Stand",

Tony Burrows wasn't the lead singer on this song. It was Ricky Wolff singing lead on the studio track of 'My baby loves lovin" . Tony Burrows only sang background vocals on the chorus. Roger sang lead in the video because Ricky Wolff was not available to promote it on TV at that time. Here's the footage (th-cam.com/video/zWpHm5ICooQ/w-d-xo.html) in which Ricky Wolff was singing live in a TV show.
