Sweet wasn't just a glam band, they were a damn good rock band
One of the best in their era.Michael.
I agree. Whatever you pitched at the boys, Sweet knocked it out of the park.

Nice one...
Thank you!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Nice one 👍
R.I.P. BRIAN!
Their music makes me feel good
Glad I was a 70s kid . A magical time in music.
Me also
I think the problem is that every avenue of rock music has been explored so it's difficult to be original any more.
I become a teenager in 72 and it was the best

Sweet were massive from 73 to around 76. A brilliant band who were far more than just Glam Rock or bubble gum pop. Their music has stood the test of time.
So did Gar Glitter and Slade.
Always make me smile , and groove. this was my introduction to Sweet at 12 years old, rather hear Sweet before the Beatles any day of the week

They were a bunch of smart alecky bad asses...and I loved 'em so! Ha!

Why is every second comment obsessing about their sexuality? FFS they are PERFORMERS on stage, wearing makeup and, gee, COSTUMES. Having FUN, in a time before everyone went insane about everything. God no wonder so many of us want to go back!
Zep was mythology
Queen was in white tassle and white leather, Sabbath was in black leather ... These guys out sold them for 2 yrs straight and dressed glam ... To my knowledge all were straight.... But who gives a shit.... Extremely underated band , all could sing amazing and also were all talented musicians. How they aren't recognized more , hall of Fame , Ill never know.
I think they look fabulous! Glam rock at it's best 😍😍😍
To be honest Women preferred the Glammed up look way better the generic granola look of jeans and t-shirt! Glam rock ruled the 70's and 80's. Glam rockers like Poison got more groupies than Mike and the Mechanics.
Maybe they get noticed more with "silly" clothes, like Slade and Abba
Who cares what their sexuality is. They were a great band and part of many of our childhoods, like you said, it doesn’t matter
My granddaughter age 10yrs now sings along to this and ballroom blitz . Gotta keep the younger generations into good music
Cool kids! I'm glad that the younger generations are re-discovering Chinn and Chapman's music. :)
It's our only hope!
My 18 yr old loves these
I'm 14 and I love their music! My 8 year old brother likes this band too but his twin doesn't. well not all people have a good taste in music.
I have been a fan of the sweet since I was a kid, born in 1991. My Dad has this set as my personal ringtone

Sweet - Blockbuster - Top Of The Pops 25.01.1973 (OFFICIAL) 1107am 5.7.23 it'll be that hard beat very strident and we know germans love that kindda drum beat... laibach should have covered this band with all those kettle drums and hard beats going on...
Queen were as glam as the rest of those bands in the 70s , not a bad thing , but I prefer sweet, as the drummer was a Monster on that kit , just think if Mick Tucker was in queen , it'll be a fight between Freddy and Mick cos both were the powerhouse of both bands 😊👍

I was born in 61. The Sweet or just "Sweet" as they were known back then were quite literally a part of the soundtrack of my youth.
Sweet, Slade, T-Rex, Bowie, Quatro, Marmalade, Mott the Hoople, Mungo Jerry, Nazareth etc
We all had Music systems but only Big Bro could afford to buy the records. But bugger did we thrash em when he was out. (Dad had Jim Reeves music etc)
Jumping up and down like a madman on the settee with a broom as a guitar !!
"Marty.... We gotta go back"
i loved them and always they were early punk rock
A lot of punk bands such as The Ramones, The Exploited and The Damned were influenced by The Sweet so that checks out.
Even Heavy Metal bands into the 80s were influenced by them too from the Hair Metal to even some Thrash bands (For example the band Heathen covered the song Set Me Free).

Good as it is this typical 70s glam rock
It still sounds great today. Seriously, just like punk jolted the established rock scene in the late 1970s, we need something to detonate the current mediocre, boring and repetitive rap scene which has been going a decade too long. Maybe a glam rock juggernaut is all that's required.
I heard this song on the radio in the 80s and I've loved it ever seen, I love all their songs, a great band 😊

Every member of the band had the capability to handle lead vocals, just listen to the harmonies on all their songs. That and their elite musical ability (yes, they played on ALL their records) along with the songwriting talents of Chin and Chapman made them the success they where, just a pity that at the time they weren't considered a 'serious' rock band even with the release of that classic 'Desolation Boulevard' that was AFAIK all self penned.
