To those commenting that this "went absolutely nowhere" and expressing a hopelessness towards the concept of therapy: Therapy. Takes. Time. A fuck ton. And you can only do so much at once. Expect to feel like you and your therapist are getting to know each other for the first few months. Know tho that THEY are actually getting to know you for the first couple years. If you have a lifetime of unaddressed trauma (if you think you don't, prepare to be frequently surprised), if you raise an eyebrow at the concept of somatic identification of the location of emotion within the physical body, and if your inner-critic is the only introspective force you have... Seriously expect real break thrus (and REAL frustration) somewhere like the 2 year mark. You aren't done. 5 years is the LOW end for healing. I was crushed when I realized my short in-patient psych ward stay was only the the first of a thousand stair steps. A friend consoled me with some of the darkest advice in response to my dismay. The type of coaching people can expect is what I imagine internal dialogues would be if we allowed ourselves the space to think more, but we often don’t. Props to Pax that must have been a stressful and empowering learning experience!
This was great, you roleplay exceptionally well Dr K. Good Job to Pax as well, must have been tough being under the spotlight to put your skills to work on the Master himself.
Dr. K, I really think you need to give your coaches a line to say that clearly articulates the difference between them and a qualified professional therapist. I was quite taken aback at his lack of ability to answer that question.
I want to have more confidence in the coaching program... but the inability to unambiguously define the "difference between therapy and coaching" doesn't exactly instill that confidence... And I would strongly suggest that coaches need to deliver clear cut distinctions from the beginning so coach and client have clear expectations of their goals and responsibilities.
@@Imsanthisismychannnelhi The legal reasons are there for a reason... training for therapists is much bigger than for coaches. They use manu of the same tools, but therapy is more equipped to deal with deeper stuff coming up when using them, while for coaches there is a limit where they have to say "I am not equipped to work with that, for that you need to go to therapy, but I can help with this aspect of it instead" and lead the client back to what they can work on.

I appreciate the need for coaches. The thing is what is potentially problematic from my point of view is coaching is not regulated by any official body and coaches have quite limited knowledge and experience in mental health -they don't know what they don't know. This might lead to coaches dealing with something way out of their sphere of competence and when it comes to mental health that can be problematic. This mock patient said some pretty significant things (feels like this is his last chance, thinks in absolutes, has attention difficulties, shows some questionable personality traits etc). He would definitely benefit from some of the coaching services but shouldn't he probably first be referred to a therapist to exclude a clinical condition.
I think that fear of coaches going into unfamiliar territory is reasonable, but I don't see how an official body would be able to solve that problem. Psychologists and psychiatrists make wrong calls, especially in the first few years, even though there is an official body. If a coach messes up and goes somewhere they shouldn't, just like a therapist making a wrong call, you can just blame it on that person. But in the case of a regulatory body, the probability that they will check whether their policies are helpful or not is zero. That scares me more.
@@petardraganov3716 I see what you mean, however coming from a medical field our regulatory bodies are extremely strict. From curricula during residency, supervised work and evaluation, treatment algorithms, continued education, exams and licensing. There is no such thing as blaming it on the patient (even tho I recognise this might actually happen in the imperfect scenario). If you screw up you will most likely be sued for a hefty sum and if it's bad enough lose your license and ability to practice anymore.
Dude I honestly can't stand to watch this cus the cringe is too strong with the character Dr. K Plays because he does too good of a job at that and because that guy is me 80% ( minus the two monitors, "noob" type lingo, reddit posting and I have a job ). Yeah same lmao, the whole "I understand myself too well" and "I know what I need to do I just cant do it" are things I've thought a lot so this hit home
Not to be that guy but 9 minutes in and Dr. K has said he was suck or some variation of that several times and the coach has yet to actually ask the direct question. Stuck with what exactly. You can not understand something by asking vague questions trying to get closer to an answer because the person your asking questions to can just dodge them because they don't actually want to answer you as that makes them feel uncomfortable.
This just looks like a beginner therapist with no training with what he’s doing being framed as not therapy while doing his best impression of his supervisor. Just like me when I started as a therapist!
Dr. K was trying so hard to be the raid boss, and Pax knocked it right out of the park so much so that Dr. K had to interrupt the "therapy session" and end it early haha. During the session I thought this was so cringe because it seemed like once Pax made Dr. K think a little bit on his own issues, then he'd crack and he'd throw soft balls back at Pax. But when they stopped role playing and they debriefed on how it went, then I realized how hard Dr. K was actually playing, and how well Pax handled it. I've learned soooooo much from this vod. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Problem is... it's all he was doing other than copying Dr K's mannerisms like "let me think". You'd hope a real coaching session would involve multiple strategies. Alas, it was just a performance, with his own boss no less! That ought to be nerve-wrecking, mad respect for Pax.
Dr. K was trying so hard to help Pax out. At 20mins when he talks about “what you’re saying is different from my expectations” Pax should’ve then used that to target all of the previous misconceptions that Dr. K talked about at the start, like his looks, discipline, knowing what other people think/say.
19:36 "Do you think I'm attractive?" "What would it mean to you either way?" "You're pretty certain that you're unattractive; that's what you're telling me." If you have a lifetime of unaddressed trauma (if you think you don't, prepare to be frequently surprised), if you raise an eyebrow at the concept of somatic identification of the location of emotion within the physical body, and if your inner-critic is the only introspective force you have...
"Yeah, it takes a lifetime. But imagine NOT doing the work. Most people go their whole lives refusing to turn a single stone. And they spread their woe. And then they die. Seems a less desirable path to me, tho the one you've chosen IS so much harder."
@Zero One Which is more to my point I think. The comments I noted were claiming this to be a disparaging display of therapy.
Thank you! It takes time. People think therapy is magic.
Thank younger sharing. I really liked the way your friend put it!
Real therapy is expensive who can afford it for years

The type of coaching people can expect is what I imagine internal dialogues would be if we allowed ourselves the space to think more, but we often don’t. Props to Pax that must have been a stressful and empowering learning experience!
“Sure, like, theoretically I could be wrong”
I’m using this from now on
I calculate a 0.04% of me being wrong...sure
This was great, you roleplay exceptionally well Dr K. Good Job to Pax as well, must have been tough being under the spotlight to put your skills to work on the Master himself.
Dr. K, I really think you need to give your coaches a line to say that clearly articulates the difference between them and a qualified professional therapist. I was quite taken aback at his lack of ability to answer that question.
For some reason Pax's high energy body language paired with his face showing very little emotions made me super anxious just watching him.
Dr K really farmed for some clips in this one 😂
Gamers gonna game 🤣
I want to have more confidence in the coaching program... but the inability to unambiguously define the "difference between therapy and coaching" doesn't exactly instill that confidence... And I would strongly suggest that coaches need to deliver clear cut distinctions from the beginning so coach and client have clear expectations of their goals and responsibilities.
Take the hint dude, this IS therapy. But for legal reasons they cant say it.
@@Imsanthisismychannnelhi ^^^^
@@Imsanthisismychannnelhi what are the legal reasons?
@@Imsanthisismychannnelhi The legal reasons are there for a reason... training for therapists is much bigger than for coaches. They use manu of the same tools, but therapy is more equipped to deal with deeper stuff coming up when using them, while for coaches there is a limit where they have to say "I am not equipped to work with that, for that you need to go to therapy, but I can help with this aspect of it instead" and lead the client back to what they can work on.
Dr. K really coming at Pax with the expert level questions
the “i think i understand myself too well” set the tone beautifully
Every time dr. K does the thinning face it’s like he’s deciding if pax asked the right question and if he should reward that. Or punish the wrong question by being more resistant lol.
Dr. Ks first take into acting. Excited to see more!
He doesnt need to act he was a legitimate incel ( could not get laid) before he met his wife overseas.
Super props to both of you this was entertaining and educative at the same time, thank yall.
Also, confusion is the first step towards progress people, never forget!
I am a professional counsellor and Dr K's videos have brought me to a whole new level to how I phrase my questions.

Kudos to Pax for staying cool under fire and on live stream! I was feeling frustrated thinking from the client's perspective which made me really nervous for Pax 😅 but he really started pulling through and I understood what was happening towards the end.
Also the person who makes the thumbnails needs a raise 😂🤣😂🤣
:( that interview was so much like me and my therapists, i cancelled all my sessions with them after one session.
lol
Watching this, I was reminded of early in my own mental health journey when I first had a peer support session. I was very much in a bad place then, yet after that first visit my peer support person told me that I should sincerely consider doing this myself when I'm feeling better. Well, here I am! Do you anticipate hiring further coaches in the future? I looked on the website and there aren't any currently available. I would not only love this job, I have a very large pool of life experiences from which to draw. I'll keep looking elsewhere in the mean time, but coaching for your team would be my dream, Dr. K!
The acting is SOOO top notch omw
this character of pretty sharp yet with large blindspots is pretty relatable besides the jordan peterson stuff lmao. on another note ive been doing like a 5 minute meditation everyday after i wake up while i lie in bed and after about a week of this i already feel like something is changing. i can control my focus better already and feel more even or something, in a good way. was having panic attacks lmao. but i feel myself overcoming it. meditation is kinda lit.
Legit bs 😂😂😂, stop trying to push meditation as some kinda cure all miracle treatment
@@polarbearbowl6102 i was having hella panic attacks where i thought i was having a heart attack. then i was getting them out of being scared to get them which was a ridiculous cycle. the main thing with panic attacks is you gotta understand your triggers and train your mind against them. you cant avoid them you have to slowly confront them. meditation wasnt the only thing i did to further this goal but it helped me stay a bit more relaxed and catch my triggers before they got out of hand. nobody said it was a cure all and honestly im sorry but in your case i dont think it would help at all, youre going to need something a bit stronger. This feels like the opposite of an ad for coaching, I hope it's actually better than this for people.
Dr K said he made it really difficult for Pax and Pax said that this not what he typically deals with. I think this is a great ad! It weeds people.
I feel like Dr. K. is personally attacking me. This was exactly me in the first 3 sessions of HG Group Coaching :O
dude the way they put music in was rreally refreshing and fun and im so glad they left the rest with no backgrround music and only had it at the start so i can use my own music if i want :) great job editor
This is like making me want to be a coach, haha. Pax is doing a good job.
He even adopted Dr. K's habit of inserting "like" between every other word.

No wonder coaches get so much training! I don't know if I could have done that
That thumbnail is insane lmao
i cant wait for a dr.k talks to dr.k video from this
I appreciate the need for coaches.
Dr. K: "Sometimes I think I I understand myself too well."
*Why do I here boss music?*
Dude I honestly can't stand to watch this cus the cringe is too strong with the character Dr. K Plays because he does too good of a job at that and because that guy is me 80% ( minus the two monitors, "noob" type lingo, reddit posting and I have a job ). From this point of view I just feel bad for all of my past therapists and counselors, and a bit my current one. Also I'm kinda crying because this hits too close to home, but mostly cringing at myself. Great video though. A little too good of a video.
Yeah same lmao, the whole "I understand myself too well" and "I know what I need to do I just cant do it" are things I've thought a lot so this hit home
man, i would love to see k in session with his own patient impression
This feels like a Dr K Out of Context video
Not to be that guy but 9 minutes in and Dr. K has said he was suck or some variation of that several times and the coach has yet to actually ask the direct question. Stuck with what exactly. You can not understand something by asking vague questions trying to get closer to an answer because the person your asking questions to can just dodge them because they don't actually want to answer you as that makes them feel uncomfortable.
i was called out, and I deserved it.
I really wish I had the Twitch chat on screen in this type of videos. I can tell Dr.K farmed hella OMEGALULs with his expert roleplay.
I think he was doing a real good job of Socratic questioning in a non judgmental manner even though we could all tell he was dying inside
Problem is... it's all he was doing other than copying Dr K's mannerisms like "let me think".
You'd hope a real coaching session would involve multiple strategies.
Alas, it was just a performance, with his own boss no less!
That ought to be nerve-wrecking, mad respect for Pax.

7:11 "Nah, I get laughed at a lot; it's no big deal." 😆
Dr. K was trying so hard to help Pax out. At 20mins when he talks about “what you’re saying is different from my expectations” Pax should’ve then used that to target all of the previous misconceptions that Dr. K talked about at the start, like his looks, discipline, knowing what other people think/say.
