- While I sat on the floor watching Graham Nash play The Hollies' 1966 hit "Bus Stop," I caught a glimpse of the same transistor radio I had as a kid when that song filled the AM radio airwaves. It was surreal and beautiful.
Nash has a voice that resonates and cuts to the core. When he played the title track from his forthcoming solo album This Path Tonight, I was moved by the clarity and quality of his tone. His lucid songwriting displays the deep introspection that comes with age; he's 74 and as insightful as ever. Along with guitarist Shane Fontayne, Nash played music that felt memorable, touching and as thoughtful as anything he made during his time with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

taking anything away from MTV Unplugged.
BUT NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert is better.
More natural; more sublime.

I realize this is 5 years old but it is new to me. I'm a life long musician and more recent also a song writer. I was blown away by Myself At Last. Wow! Beautiful chord changes and great meaningful lyrics. More people need to hear it.
Saw them do this live at The Saban. Just like this. True talent. Don't need all the production when you sound like this live.
my father is the spitting image of Graham Nash in the younger days - everything even the hair couldn't be more proud .. Graham Nash has still got it the talent the voice and everything..

Such a beautiful, emotive musician, and so well supported here. Songs For Beginners is an album I never get sick of.
I had Songs for Beginners on 8-track, would go to bed listening and then wake up to it still playing. I can play Be Yourself now, after 46 years, can't quite hit the high notes, but a great accomplishment none the less

I had the pleasure to see Crosby and Nash in concert a few years ago and they sounded as good as ever. This Tiny Desk series is the best thing since MTV's Unplugged. Thank you NPR.
Saw these guys 34 yrs ago, 1985, outside of Chicago. Raining down hard, but inside, warm and mellow vibes. Crosby was obviously not well with his liver/health issues and missed a portion of the show, nevertheless, it was great.
My husband and I saw CSN at a lil casino hall venue almost 20 years ago, they were phenomenal! Great memory.
Graham Nash is one of the best musicians alive and one of the best ever. I love his Album "This Path Tonight" so much especially the beautiful Song "Myself at Last".

One of the things I love about watching great musicians are the gorgeous instruments they play. Especially acoustic guitars. Crosby, Nash, Richard Thompson, the fine guitars they play make me happy.
Nash gets old, but the voice is just the same. This guys FABULOUS!!!

Been listening to Graham for over 50 years and it is still like day 1, I am always grateful to him for solving my perplexing problems,and doing it with some of the best music at that. Saw those two perform live at "Burg Herzberg" Festival this year. It was the last day and after 4 incredibly hot days the rain started falling in the middle of their performance. It had something very pure to it. Amazing crowd, amazing musicians.

Bus Stop takes me back to being in Junior High in Kansas City, MO in the late sixties and very early seventies.Sleeping in a pup tent in the backyard under a huge black walnut tree. I had a little transistor radio I got from Sunday School attendance, and in the dark of night I could pull in radio stations from New Orleans, Chicago, San Antonio. Hearing these sixties tunes and fifties doo wap and such.
...rolling down this lonesome road, to find myself at last...

Been a Nash fan since I first heard The Hollies way back in mid-60s. followed his career through CSN and beyond. What a treat then to come across this Tiny Desk Concert with Graham, an acoustic guitar and a second guitar and voice. Very nice. When I heard the first strains of Bus Stop I was hooked for the duration of the video. Loved it all...

Why won't they make recordings just like this. Forget about the studio and the multi tracks. This is as good as music gets

Because producers today think that's the way it has to be done. That's what they were told and they have the technology and by golly they're gonna use it.
Rich B Well, studios and multitracks are good. the trick is to put these guys in a studio with the multitracks rolling away, and have them play live right there. maybe throw some backing vocals in later? bass? keys? you get the point. But what really kills the music is stuff like autotune, cut and paste, dynamic range compression (an important tool, but much overused, especially on masters). I feel like this is how you make the best, most pure music. a mix of good gear and Recording techniques, and excellent musicians. forget technology.

kyle saloka I disagree.. sure you might as well do it properly if your multitracking. I would love to hear more musicians being captured live.. if you need a harmony, get another vocalist in etc.
@@jimmy5634 Put a chunk of the blame on Phil Spector. He started doing all that layering and "sound on sound" noise in the early sixties. It may have worked ok on some of the girl group records, but muddied lots of other music badly. Imltho.

This version of Bus Stop is by far the best I have heard, by far. including the original. There's just something about the Crosby and Nash style vocals (dare I say it) that gives it a rawness.

Last year i went to see the concert in Rome.was the best money i spent in my life.

Like Harrison in the Beatles this guy never got the recognition he really deserves, why did CSN or The Hollies leap out of the radio and grab you, his voice was their secret weapon.I'm not knocking the incredible Steve Stills or Dave Crosby but without Nash it would have lacked the magic.

Alan Clarke did most of the lead vocals. He was truly the "voice' of the Hollies. Graham did some of them but he mostly performed the high harmonyies.

This is a song I loved and actually believed in love forever, until I found out it isn't. Great sound, think I was about 12 when this song came out. Nash is a wonderful singer.. memories, thank you.

An absolute legend.
Very nice! We caught these two at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe PA a few months ago. One of the BEST shows I've ever seen. We had the chance to chat with them right afterwards and that made a great night even better. Shayne copped ALL the right parts, on both guitar and vocals. An absolute brilliant sideman and WAY humble.

It’s been raining in the North of England for a while so we get called a rainy city here in Manchester.Bus stops and umbrellas are useful connections if sharing is your thing. The Hollies we part of our thing in the 60/70’s….so imagine a surprise to find a transforming Graham Nash appear in a close harmony group along with two Americans .Hooked interest immediately and part of my thing since then.Thank you ,grateful.
