    I like to remove the tires off the wheels before taking the wheels off the car, when the tires are soft enough. Then you can assess how the rim is put together. Sometimes you'll have to grind the front face of the wheel as they are glued onto the hub or backface. In that case, go at it slowly and you'll end up removing the wheel from the hub, and clean off the hub for the new wheel. I got that from some GMP cars, and replaced the wheels from cars like the 65 Chevelle and the 68 Firebird with success. Sometimes you'll need to engineer your way into putting the new wheels on so they operate properly. There is an outfit called TK diecast that actually sells wheels for 1/18 diecast and also brake sets and the hubs that match the wheels. So if you break them off you can replace the axle hubs...

      Thank you for watching! Well, I do have a few resin cars but have never attempted to remove any of the wheels, unfortunately. (sorry) They s/b be very similar in nature as other carr, such as Kyosho where they push onto the axles.

    Well didn't work that easily on my Ertl S&H Torino.... snapped off BOTH rear axle ends. 😭 Think I'll separate the tires from the rims on the fronts before attempting to pop 'em off! Going to find a screw the correct diameter to replace the rear axle stubs so the replacement rear wheels will turn like the fronts. FINGERS CROSSED!!🤞😬

      Yes; use oven cleaner to remove the chrome from plastic rims. It works good. Thsnks for watching!

    hello. I just purchased my first Otto Resin 1:18 scale. When i did a little research on the Otto’s i read that “some” of their models wheels dont spin. So a couple days later, when it arrived.. i was heartbroken to see that this was the case !! I know to expect Resin models will not have turning wheels in the front, since i own 2 Resin Best of Shows (BOS), but to have wheels that DONT SPIN ! Having a hard time excepting this. Is there a way to change it out so the wheels will spin ? Anyone ?

    Correct me if I'm wrong...but do I spot a Ford Falcon Interceptor in the background by AutoArt?...if so do you have any advice for removing tires off a model like that...like say if I wanted to remove them and have the plain black side of the tires on the outside of the model.

      I have tons of 1/18 wheel removal videos on my channel. These cars are ALL made in China, so they are pretty much the same in one way or another. The AA is so expensive tho, that I would be worried to break the axle stub in that.

    • @Pedal2Metal_on_YouTube
      @Pedal2Metal_on_YouTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you & thank you for watching my video. I'm pretty sure not all AutoArt cars are the same, so I would need to see the underside of your car, if u can get some pics and email them to me: rtcopen@yahoo.com Just make sure to add autoart in the subject header and I'll take a look. I own a few AutoArts, but I don't want to rely on that.

    what do you do when one of the
    tabs breaks on the front wheel?

    • @Pedal2Metal_on_YouTube
      @Pedal2Metal_on_YouTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good Q. Well, when it has happened to me, I usually just used some epoxy to hold the wheel on afterwards; obviously the wheel will not roll though, but I never cared about that too much. The other thing you can do is snip off the excess tab/stub and drill it out and make a new axel stub out of coat hanger wire or something thick enough to work w/ whatever wheels your putting on. I have quite a few 1/18 wheel removal videos, so I might even have those techniques in them but I can not think of which video does though off the top of me head. I hope that helps, thanks for watching!

      Pedal2Metal thank you. i was considering just glueing or using epoxy to reattach it. its a highway 61 1966 olds 442. dropped the box and the car came off the screw stands and managed to bust the wheel off

    Great video, probably gonna do the same sawp on a 1:18 Ertl Plymouth Superbird, since it came with the wrong wheels, it had the Magnum wheels, like the ones you took off, and i wanna replace them with the Rally GMP wheels you gonna put on, good tips :)

      I looked at some pics on google images and it does have closed hubs. So, it should be very similar to my Anson removal video. Many of these cars (if not all) were made in China are either press-fitted onto the axles or are on plastic hub pins (like Burago and many Maisto). I have a feeling yours is pressed onto metal axles. I have many 1/18 wheel removal videos, but if you check out the Anson one in particular, it might help you.

      Hello, 99%of all 1/18 car, if not all, are made in china and are all very similar on their removal procedure. I have some other videos on 1/18 brands but none titled as AA per say, so hopefully one-off them will help you, if not let me know. thanks for watching
