  • Quick build video of the Stanton Ti Sherpa using bits from my Salsa Fargo.
The Salsa Fargo will eventually get the Rohloff and Gates Carbon Drive belt treatment to make it an off/on road touring beast.
The Sherpa will be my fun blasting bike and short trip bike packing machine.

That's a sweet looking build. FYI, It's pronounced Core-Nado(Spansih for Crowned), like the Beach City in California in San Diego.

How did that fat rear tyre work out for you? I thought it would have been too fat for that frame.

There is plenty of room in the Sherpa frames for fatties. They are specd on the website to take up to 3” for 650b and 2.5” for 29ers.

@@RidingBicycles That's great to know! I just bought a second hand one. I assumed the 3" tyres you put on were on 29s, but i'm an idiot. Regards.

Just got myself a Sherpa and looking at what builds other people have done.
What travel forks have you gone for?

130mm Rockshox Pike Select. About £500 from wiggle. They don’t have a lockout something I don’t like about. But they are very good other than that.

How would you compare this to your tout terrain Outback?

    • @RidingBicycles

Very similar in Ride feel. The Tout Terrain a bit heavier due to steel frame designed to carry a heavy load and the gearbox. The Stanton I think came out at about 12kg (I think) the Outback was about 15-16kg. Two different use case with both bikes though. If your thing is keeping light and you only go out in nice ish weather or you don’t mind or have the space for maintenance then the Stanton would be your bike. If you ride in all weathers through hub deep mud or don’t have the space or hate bike maintenance then the Pinion gearbox and belt are your best friends. The Tout Terrain has all the bosses for luggage, if travelling with the Stanton there is now a lot of choice for racks and/or soft bags if your bike does not have bosses for that kind of thing. My plan was to go for a Pinion Ti bike during lockdown but I got impatient and made some spontaneous decisions. But I am happy (for the time being 😂
