Where did you start your musical journey? Where did it all begin for you? I got the chance to go back to Guildford, meet up with Lee and get a Music Store Tour, it was a blast. Funnily enough, back in 2001/2 I tried to get a job at Andertons as I was studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music. They just didn't have any vacancies at the time, so I ended up at Wetherspoons 😔😅
It started for me in the same place as you at Anderton's as I came from, just up the road from you in Church Crookham, Camberley. That was back in the 70's and it was the original, much smaller shop. I bought my first Fender Precision bass there and when I wasn't playing it I would sit and stare at its beauty. So glad the business survived and is clearly thriving. I spent many thousands of hard earned pounds in there over the years. I have good memories of a terrific manager there called John Hulk who would kindly let me take various bits of gear to try out and which I would always end up buying...can't see that happening nowadays.

Love Andertons, they've really done amazing things with the shop over the last 30 years, apart from the parking. Their online deals are very competitive too. I steer clear of it, otherwise I'd be broke and divorced very quickly. 🤣🤣
Watching Lee and Chappers bojanglin around with guitars and gear several years ago rekindled my love for making music. Seeing his progression as he learned to play guitar always lifted me up when I felt bored or frustrated with learning the instrument myself. Its so rad to find out you and Lee go back... you are both legends and when I make it, setting foot in Andertons to buy a couple random patrons the guitars of their dreams will be the first thing I do. 😅 Much love from the states. 💯🙏

WARREN: How about some COMPRESSION VIDEO? They were few on PLAP but I mean like all in RECIRDING WISE. I mean by that like: For vocals I go for this one if I can, go 3:1, release/attack. The same for acoustics, for bass (DI/AMP/SUB), some for piano? You know ALL IN ONE VIDEO, that You could record in Your studio to show. Just an idea : )
I use to have a Kingfisher store within walking distance. Now my closest music instrument shop is 30 miles a way and I often find myself travelling 50 miles to Andertons. On line is great for homogenous stuff, but no good for guitars or amps.

Just like Andertons, there were always containers and bins behind the counter with all kinds of parts for just about anything.
I miss those days.
haha no commission on sales I seem to remember! Just all about identifying what people actually wanted and needed so they would become repeat customers, proper service!
I bought my 78 Precision & 77 Jazz from Kingfishers in Fleet & well remember Nova & Antertons from the early/mid 80's!!...
i wanna work at andertons .. iconic
Thanks ever so much
This is properly lovely.
KIngfisher Music Fleet - bought some great 'stuff' from them!!
Great stuff!! Haha yes, great times indeed
Andertons are big on TH-cam
Apparently so!
Bloody hell, I bought my first Yamaha fretless from KIngfisher in HIgh Wycombe back in 1992.....
Yowsa! High Wycombe! I remember going there and it was a ghost town of a store, the Fleet one was always packed! Did you go to that store?
Unfortunately not, @@Producelikeapro I couldnt drive back in those days and the High Wycombe (Loudwater to be precise, in east Wycombe) was the closest one to where I was based at the time, if the other local store in Wycombe (Percy Priors) didnt have what you wanted. I remember I bought that RBX fretless from Kingfisher and had them swap the pickup out for an EMG and I kept that until about 2014-15. Never ever been to Fleet though.... Worked in Hook for a while but never ever went to Fleet....
Thanks for sharing!@@stevem-h3562 yes, Hook is pretty close!
If there were a music shop, a record shop, and a bookshop within a short walk of each other I'd have to find an apartment in that area.
There definitely used to be! I’m not sure of the other two anymore
There is a Pub next door, what else do you need..👍
@@douglasgreen437haha very true and we are there!
Love Andertons, they've really done amazing things with the shop over the last 30 years, apart from the parking. Their online deals are very competitive too.
I steer clear of it, otherwise I'd be broke and divorced very quickly. 🤣🤣
Haha thanks for sharing!
Awesome video!
Thanks ever so much Michael!
21:16 Is such a great Partidge moment by Lee 😂
That guy looooves to talk damn!!!! hahaha
Hilarious that you had that connection.
First guitar was a Hagstrom jazzer from a small guitar shop in Croydon… a favourite haunt was Rockbottom though - it was a real Aladdin’s cave at the time!
Wow, I could have possibly bought music gear from both you guys. I bought a fender amp in kingfisher around 1990 and a strat from anderslns in 1996. Small world but a greT world.
WARREN: How about some COMPRESSION VIDEO?
They were few on PLAP but I mean like all in RECIRDING WISE. I mean by that like:
For vocals I go for this one if I can, go 3:1, release/attack. The same for acoustics, for bass (DI/AMP/SUB), some for piano? You know ALL IN ONE VIDEO, that You could record in Your studio to show.
Just an idea : )
Interesting ideas!
I bought my first ever new pedal (a Marshall Bluesbreaker) in 1995 in that very same music store.
Wow , I Bought the Pearl Export kit 1 ,5 years , second hand for € 280! A good drummer told me, tune it properly, but this kit is very playable!
still watching drum tuning tutorials, I have to say!
Love the Pearl Export! So many drummers started on that kit!!
Good for you! Always learning!@@treborretlaw
@@Producelikeapro maybe not always learning something, but always interested
Just curiosity what happened to the lav mic áudio? Great video 😁
I use to have a Kingfisher store within walking distance. Now my closest music instrument shop is 30 miles a way and I often find myself travelling 50 miles to Andertons. On line is great for homogenous stuff, but no good for guitars or amps.
Was that in High Wycombe?
Or the Fleet location on Kings Road?
@@Producelikeapro High Wycombe. We of course also had Percy Priors too, which went the same way as Kingfisher
They could never get that High Wycombe branch quite of the ground unfortunately@@peterjessop1878 I remember the personnel issues
Well there is a very good chance I bought my Yamaha acoustic and or my Fender Strat Mexican from you. Or one of many flutes and whistles.
I lived in Guildford from the 1975 - 1985 but worked at Police HQ till 1995 whilst living in Dorking.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I'm lucky to have a 2007Ish Marshall triple super lead valve amp made in England, Best amp I've ever had, I hear valve amps are on the way out due to new technology ,?? Correct me if I'm wrong
Pete kicking you guys out 😂
You should have Lee picking satin finished guitars from lacquered in a blind test and have Glenn Fricker comment it 😂
Could someone please tell me who makes that seafoam offset guitar with the 3 tone burst poking out, seen behind Warren at about 23:50? I think I first saw it, or something very similar on 60 Cycle Hum a while back. Can't remember the fella's name anymore.
lovely jubbly :)
