To learn how to shave yourself. For example, my father never teached me how, so I had to learn from a barber and even then, there's a lot of techniques worth watching.
I've recently decided to grow a beard for the first time and went with the Van Dyke as I find the look of them to be classy and more refined. Given that it's my first beard, I have no clue how to properly trim it so videos such as this are very helpful, thank you. Although that technically *isnt* a Van Dyke in the video (for a Van Dyke, the moustache and beard *must* be *seperated* ) the trimming technique used is super helpful.
Wonderful video! Although I would have found some explanation regarding trim combs and reasons for the method. This is the style I am trying for, but with a full moustache covering the upper lip. Thank you!
I always thought the pointy beard looks cool and refined as hell. Plus as someone with a kinda-'oval'ish/round-but-not-really-round face shape with a weaker jawline, the van dyke creates the illusion of a more triangular face. Definitely need to try it out.
H OC Na bro if the hair on your chin is too long, you end up looking like Mr Tumnus I’ve got the roundest head in the world 😂 no chance of me going pointy tho... not worth it
@The Arse Hahah lmao. But I'm not talking about comic book mega villian levels of long lol. I'm talking a short, neatly trimmed point. Less Ghengis Khan and more like a 19th century European aristocrat or intellectual lol.
H OC A full heavy stubble combined with a Van Dyke will give your face the appearance of being elongated without actually doing it. Plus it’s literally the coolest beard going. The idea is to look like you’re not *trying* to change your face shape. Keep on top of your stubble’s jawline (since your actual jawline is basically non-existent like mine😂) and rock the Van Dyke roughly 2-3x as long but keep the chin neatly combed and not into a point. It hits that sweetspot of both cool/scruffy, and smart/well-groomed.
Looks well good! at the age of 52 (God help us) I'm giving a beard a go for the first time in my life. It's coming along nicely and I'm quite impressed at the change tbh. It was a good inspiration to find this video on first try and see something I'm aiming for. Many thanks!
Have fun with the new look. I have been experimenting with my beard since I was 16 years old and after 11 years I'm confortable with my styles and grow rates lol.
@Greg Tastad 40 years old. I did mine before watching this. Thankfully I kinda did the same thing. So this was a good video to watch and confirm. I'm always unsure how far down to let my beard line grow under my jaw..It never seems right either on the jaw line or just below it..
@@McDanieI do you have like a double chin?i am asking because i have a meaty chin and also a poor jaw and i have the same problem , but i came to a middle ground and i am sticking to it for now.
great vid bro ..i have a goatee but my beard will only grow to half of my cheeks then stop .. my friend says just to let it grow you may look rough but being patient it will eventually get there.. i’m only 19 what should i do??
Thanks man! Yeah just let it grow out first, i'd say about 2 months, don't trim it, don't shape it. Then you could see your beard and go from there. Cheers
Not sure if it's a technique, i just found that's a great way for me to trim the hair. That way it keeps the look natural and less of a chance for me cutting too much off.
Dude, you and I have damn near identical facial hair. This is crazy! Like the way it waves, the color pattern, even the soul patch area. Like wtf? Long lost 2nd cousin or something.
First time I saw it I had to put it on the "whach it later" list. Didn't had the size needed. But with the coronavirus and staying at home I've pulled back the video and did it 😆👍
You got good genetics for beard growth, so let it grow...But if you like it short and neat like in the video, I would not trim the moustache so thin...But a great tutorial video
why am i watching a guy on youtube shave...what a time to be alive
😂😂😂😂😂😂
bad thing is: i'm doing the same xd

Im certainly not going to learn how to shave my beard using Wikipedia
lol
Exactly the style I want to rock. Awesome job!
Great looking beard man! The color transition from mustache to beard is awesome. Keep posting vids!

Do you have Native American ancestry? Indians can't grow beards.
I kinda want one after seeing the Lev Mishkin in "Idiot" by Pyryev (Dostoevsky adaptation). It's free on TH-cam and has English subtitles
What trimmer do you use?
Im growing my beard so i can have this style I was wondering why you started trimming downwards (with the grain of the hair).. is that a technique?
Not sure if it's a technique, i just found that's a great way for me to trim the hair. That way it keeps the look natural and less of a chance for me cutting too much off.
Perfeita!
i want you to be my barber well done dude
Very nice beard! Can I ask how long it took to grow to the original length?
couple of months then I my barber made it shaped that way.

What clippers and what guard to shape the point? All downward strokes
I used Wahl clippers with number 3 guard to thin the chin out. Cheers
Not bad brotha. Personally I like my sides a little longer. But mainly because I have blonde hair like yours and it’s harder to see the shorter it is.
Nice 👌👌👌
Nice !
Parece un emperador romano.!👍👏

Gus was the man.
Anyone else screwed up and totally butcher it And its that bad you've had to shave it all off and grow again lol

Yes my man. I am off to bathroom immediately.

Lookin' good! :D
Pair that goatee with a big blonde handlebar mustache and you are GOLDEN!
i might try that
that was cool
I would prefer a video on how to grow a beard like the one at the beginning of the video
All you need is patience.
Super Video Daumen hoch 👍

What type of attachment did you use (mm,etc)
Guard #3 (10mm)

Man how long did it take you to grow it before the trim?
Three months to full beard, then trim the sides, and another two months to get that
Класс! 👍
What beard?
Hi ! Nice vid !
At what high do you cut your whiskers ?
Hey, i used number 3 on my beard trimmer.
Thanks !
It indeed takes a lot of effort to maintain beard
