- Curtis Bradley leads a flight of SEAD Thuds into the Red River valley to defend a Navy strike flight. We try the problematic Bullpup missiles once again.
In these videos I am using the base Strike Fighters 2 game with the Vietnam, Europe, Israel, North Atlantic, and expansion addons. The game and all its DLC can be purchased in the store at Thirdwire.com.

Man I wish there was a modern version of this game, this and the Jane’s games were always my favorite. DCS is just a bit too complex and stuff like Ace Combat is too cheesy.

Awesome episode Devin, welcome back to SF2.. so very sorry to hear about the hardship and struggles you've been going through. It's disgusting when people just throw people away like that, my sister in law has had the same thing herself recently, just been sacked from a job she worked so hard to get.. and it was one she really liked, and what's worse she's only just married my younger brother, and if thst wasn't enough.. a month ago she suffered a miscarriage.. so I have a good idea what your wife's going through. Sorry to hear about your mother in law suffering from illness, you've had a storm to go through indeed, but it's alright.. you get round to posting episodes when you can. On a pleasant note, this was fantastic this episode, great to see the F8s and A4s come out to play, my own A4 Skyhawk campaign is one of my favs, especially now that I'm onto the C variant after spending some time with the early Bs. Your a real heroic legend to carry the Bullpups again, I never bother and just go with bombs.. but that's just my preference. Thanks for another legendary episode, this was fantastic. I got to see a lot of jets from this era while visiting the Fort Worth Aviation Museum (including a Thud!). For anyone living in/visiting the DFW era, it's well worth seeing. One of the guides was a former pilot who had all kinds of stories flying planes like the A4 and A6.
Totally get the absence, different reasons but similar result on my end too. Glad to hear things are looking up now, and good to see you back!
As for crustacean bombs... there was a side-scroller that I used to play about 15 years ago called Cortex Command, kinda similar in gameplay to the 2D Worms games. When you bought a unit they'd arrive by drop pod or rocket or dropship or whatever, and for some reason you could buy crabs. Well, the most effective weapon in the entire game was to stuff a drop pod with a few hundred crabs and call it in on whatever you wanted to delete, because when the pod hit the ground the sheer weight of all the crabs inside would cause it to explode, and then glitch the physics out so badly it'd slow the game to a crawl and pieces of crab would start glitching around the place as the physics calculations fell apart. Definitely more effective than the cluster bombs in the game were!
That's amazing. We played another game of the same genre called Scorched Earth, with little 2d tanks. There was no crazy bomb like your crabster but there was a mini nuke and a mirv that were sweet

I have been keeping up a little bit. I saw it was delayed. I was messing around with DCS again last week, flying the F-86 around a little bit. The F-4 would be right in my sweet spot of classic airplanes though, so I will probably pick one up at some point

Always happy to see a new video from you, especially for the Thud! As nice as the polished metal getup is nice, I don’t think anything beats the SEA camouflaged Thud in terms of classic Vietnam looks. Hopefully the guys at Takhli get to painting them soon enough!
I love both schemes but I think I messed up with the timing! I think the squadron rotates back Stateside before the SEA camo comes into use so I have to figure out how to deal with that. If I remember correctly it started in small amounts after the first of the new year.
@@devinhorner2358 Could you do a "second tour" with another squadron? I guess you could achieve this by editing the start dates in the .ini and taking the same pilot?
@@michaelkavanagh4972 Yes, i was thinking having Curtis return as a Wild Weasel in a few years would cover both the SEA camo Thud as well as Weasel operations

Ooooooo good question. I have no idea at this point. It wasn't something i downloaded myself, so I would guess it was included in either the Vietnam Gold pack or the 1974/VPAF campaign pack
@@devinhorner2358 Hi, I've been following your videos for a while and decided to try the mod out for myself however I've had difficulties. Did you follow a guide of some sort in order to apply the Vietnam Enchancment mod? I'm personally having issues with making it work fully.
@@Niko-zg5ug Yes, I followed the steps in the Readme (in the first folder when you unzip). It gives a step-by-step and also lets you know in what order to install things
@@devinhorner2358 Thanks a ton. Are all 4 parts of the mod required for it to work? Previously I used only the 1st part along with the VPAF addon and I had issues with crashing.

The Logitech Extreme 3d Pro. Its a cheaper stick but when I recently went looking to upgrade, nothing really caught my eye and went back to the same model
