The 105 is by far my favourite SF2:V plane. I love a bomb truck, I love the simplicity of it, the fact it's a flat-track bully. It looks fast on the hardstand.
Coe... Virgil Coe... suddenly I crave an A-6 Intruder mission..... 😊 but don't listen to me, I 100 percent love to ride along in the Thud with you. Edit: And what a spicy ride it was! That whole attack and evasion supersonic was wild.
As always, a very excellent episode Devin, between you and me I'd stick to the traditional "iron" bombs.. but of course it's your campaign so you make the choices, the Bullpup missiles can be tricky and difficult to work with at times, had that a few times myself in my own campaigns.. are powerful and lethal when they Bullseye the target.. depending on what it is at times.. but nothing beats good old fashioned bombs. Flying in low visibility.. been there done that many times myself, still that's why I love this game so much.. unpredictable weather like in all the other great sims.. IL-2 and such.. so much like real life. Love seeing the A4 Skyhawks buzzing around in each campaign, along with the F8E Crusaders.. epic and beautiful jets.. love operating those beauties in the USN and Marine campaigns. 15 flights done.. 85 more to go and Curtis Bradley gets to go home, the odds should be improving hopefully with each successful flight, but then again.. fog of war.. unpredictable and unforgiving. Thanks for posting this incredible episode, greatest series on TH-cam.. stay safe, happy health and congratulations on another successful operation. Earlier in 1965 the thought was "if we don't attack the SAMs, they won't use them." The White House was assuming one hell of a gentleman's agreement which, of course, was completely wrong. As '65 is wrapping up, that policy is finally being reversed and attacks against SAM sites were starting to be approved (although almost no damage was done). As 1966 begins the concentrated efforts of the Wild Weasel program will finally make the sites fair game.
Great videos Devin!! Quick question can you give a tutorial on how to attack a SAM site. I'm good at bombing hard targets, ex roadcut missions, Bridges, Powerplants hard targets. But SAM site are a little difficult what lay out would you use for armament and your ingress and egress to target. Thanks!
HARMS or Standard ARMs come into play later in the war. They take some getting used to but you can lob them up from a distance and they will home in on active radar. Otherwise I think cluster bombs would be effective- carpet the SAM site and you should be able to get radars and missiles alike. I'd stay low and fast on the way in and out of the sites. Supposedly the early SAMs had a minimum altitude of 1500 or 2000 ft, something like that. (although in practice crews reported missiles lower than that). Try a fast, low release of area effect weapons over the site.

I installed my old WOV 1 in windows 11 and it works well. But when I try to install the mod “green he’ll 2” it crashes to desktop. Should I get SF2 and mod it? Will it work? Is it worth it?
I would worry too much about the idiot with missiles part at least on persona attack level, we gotta worse idiots everywhere and the frustration too. You're cool, take it easy, enjoy the vids and all the education in the process

I had no idea the ROE were quite so restrictive, I thought you could at least engage a SAM site that had engaged you.
