- Commander Horner is back in the Gulf on Tonkin, taking command of an A-4 Skyhawk squadron off the USS Coral Sea. First mission is a fast SEAD mission into the lower Route Packs

"Woo-hoo!!!".. ..Welcome back to SF2 US Navy Devin, and thanks so - SO very much for show casing the A4 Skyhawk, this sweet fighter bomber is one of my fav Vietnam war aircraft, on the top 5 in my book. Your operating the E variant too, me.. I'm still on the C, but I'm looking forward to ascending to the F variant further down the line, which I think is the best looking with the straight refuelling probe and dorsal hump. I've operated the AGM Shrike myself in my own campaigns which.. have had some successes but I love using bombs most of all on my targets. I heard that the A4 Skyhawk was nicknamed the "Tough little scooter" for a great series of reasons and the debut with that NVA AAA is great example, great episode.. truly fantastic, God this was a great come back to the US Navy campaign series. Yeah there's no afterburner but that tight turning is vital in it's own right, Everett Alvarez first pilot shot down over Vietnam operated these so that's another reason why I respect this aircraft so much, as well as making a 1/32 model also. Great start to the A4 Skyhawk career, looking forward to the next episode, thanks so much for putting this on.. you just made tonight perfect for all of us viewers. oh hell yes, skyhawk was my favourite for a long time, we used to have models of two of them on a nice plywood aircraft carrier dad built for us kids. good times, cant wait to see this tour unfold.

been waiting a while for this! Also, two tiny little corrections: Coral Sea was a Midway-Class and thus a large-deck carrier,and the brevity term for a HARM/Shrike launch is Magnum, not Rifle!
Oh good catch, I forgot it was a Midway. My bad. However I did not know at all about the Shrike launch terminology. Obviously what the wingmen say isn't correct and i was just copying them, so good looking out

Great video as always! The stock Vietnam terrain is highly inaccurate, most North Vietnamese airfields shown on the map only existed in the early 1970s. Khe Phat really existed at some point, I wrote an article about it on Wikipedia English after long researches. At some point I need to finish my full rework of the terrain which is miles more accurate.

BTW, I don't know if you've looked into this or not, but there's a free A-4 Skyhawk mod for DCS: World, and it's outstanding.
