Asking for God's blessing to inspire more priests to stand tall for the faith! I was just as a men's retreat at a very well established retreat house. The new retreat director (Jesuit Priest) said, out loud, "I know this may be controversial, but I don't think the mass is the most important thing the church does." I audibly gasped and said "what???" It was a large group setting and not the moment to take issue. The rest of the retreat weekend had NO comments on the difficult times we were in, NO theology, NO doctrine... just how it's important we "have a relationship with Jesus. Go visit other Christian churches". The whole weekend was emotional, sentimental, superficial. I've been going for 32 years and had many fine retreats there. I was heart breaking, soul crushing and a reality check that our troubles are everywhere.

@@carolynkimberly4021 I think it was Pope Benedict who anticipated a smaller but more faithful church. Even Christ said (paraphrasing) "Will I find faith when I return?" We have been mislead if we believe that the last times of the church will be an, ever growing, ever more dominant church. NO! The last days will be a fierce battle to destroy the church! We must wake up and realize we are in a battle!
Thank you for your wise advice!

The fact is that there are many people who are celibate. I have 2 female friends who’s spouse left them in their 30’s. Both remained single to this day.. in their 50’s. The children came first. Why is everything about sex. I hate when someone says… oh if you become a priest then you won’t have sex. No you shouldn’t but you become a priest because you love your faith and want to serve

No. You become a priest because you’re called, not because you “want” to serve (as you can serve the Church in marriage) but because you NEED to serve as God has called you

Look Jesus said His Church will be put to the test.. We should not jump ship just because things look bad and falling apart... You stay and fight for Jesus and His Church to the death no matter what.... With His help and grace we can... Stay strong in the Faith in the Catholic Church.

I ask all to join me in praying daily that Our Father in Heaven would manifest The Holy Spirit to and in all these descendants of the Apostles of The Church of His Son Jesus The Christ. That The Holy Spirit would bring all these Bishops to repentance from their finacial corruptions and homosexual predations and all the apostosies and heresies they have promulgated in their pursuit of modernism and power. That The Holy Spirit would make ALL of these Bishops good and faithful shepards of The Church of His Son Jesus The Christ. That The Holy Spirit would protect and raise up all the bishops and priests that have remained faithful to the teachings of His Son Jesus The Christ.

Wholesome, a good fraternal life, prayer... Great priests are made of this stock.
The question about encouraging vocations? Well when they ask me: what about the pope/abuse/scandal/etc... I ask them: how's that marriage/divorce/contraception/abortion thing working out on that side? Do you encourage that!?!
    (and cue the crickets!)

Speaking of the role of priests and kids. Could we address the issue of the negative treatment of kids by priests(putting it lightly). What causes it and whats the cure? Or just foward a link to another video addressing the topic.

For the institutional corruption argument, there are sound biblical examples, that God´s way is not to separate from the ill body, but be there and trying to be a channel through which Jesus heals it: Moses, when confronted with the golden calf idolatry, God (!) proposes him to wipe out those sinners and make out of Moses a new nation. He was offered to become a new patriarch of the people of God. What is wrong with accepting that proposal, especially when it comes from God? God isn´t tempting Moses, because long before he planted in his heart his wisdom, God was just articulating a seemingly sound argument for the purge, in order to let his wisdom shine in Moses´ reply to that proposal. What does Moses do? He starts to intercede for the sinful people, showing that Gods mercy is the only remedy for the fallen reality of his people. One can seemingly take the side of God against the sin in the Church, and even may attempt to create a new perfect community, but God´s way, especially for the priest, is to be the one mediating the mercy of God upon his people in their fallen reality, knowing that he himself is not exempt from that, and trying, as John the Baptist did, to make the people fit to recieve the grace of God´s mercy and forgiveness. A good example for the (future) priest discouraged by the shortcomings of the institution, is prophet Hosea, told by God to love an unfaithful woman. Priest is called to share the pain of the Heart of Jesus from not getting the love he is ought to. And last, but not least, dont be quick to point the finger at the Church leaders, you should foremost always ponder whether it is not your ignorance that misinterpretes their actions as bad. People who were like the children on the streets found things they dont like in John the Baptist, and Jesus as well, whereas the children of wisdom seek first justification of why both John´s and Jesus´ way of ministry were the expression of God´s wisdom.

I consider Celibacy an economic condition brought on by the Church a long while back…not wanting to support the families of priests! Yet Jesus chose married men as apostles. If celibacy were optional, I feel a lot of abuse and hardship would have been eliminated! The Orthodox Church has had married Priests for 2000 years and it’s been successful! Optional Celibacy definitely is the answer! God bless you and God bless Fr. Burns…..+Fr.James

Sorry to say that married men do rape and molest young men or women Not all married men are pure Sorry to bust your bubble Most celibate priests are awesome people who keep their vows It is a tiny percentage that ruined it for the good holy priests

I think the biggest issue is obviously celibacy. We all know wonderful deacons, Anglican/episcopal convert priests or Orthodox married priests who are married that would so strengthen and elevate the Church instead of numerous priests who are terrible witnesses for the faith. It really unfortunately does attract a homosexual element to the priesthood and most don't seem to be resisting temptation. Many say that priests would not be able to focus on their parish but on the flip side each parish would have two or three priests or you could even limit it to deacons with grown children who have shown their character for over two decades and probably double the number of priests in a few years. While the priest is so much more in the end being the only functionary for the sacraments become his Primary role and there really isn't a way around that.

    • @markushill8639
      @markushill8639 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

There's no evidence to suggest that celibacy leads to homosexual tendecies or that permitting marriage would abrogate such issues.
Not to mention that to suggest this you must ignore the theology of a celibate priest, thus comprimising a beautiful element of the Faith for more priests; the ends do not justify the means.

I have known many Orthodox Priests who are married and have had very successful marriages and thriving Parishes!!! Celibacy should be Optional considering the fact that the Apostles were married!!! St.Peter was the first Pope and married!!!

Pope St John Paul 11's Exhortation "On the Vocation and the Mission of the Lay Faithful in the Church and in the World, Christifideles Laici [CL], 40, his Letter to Families, Gratissimam Sane, 2 February 1994, and his Council for the Family teaching document: "The Truth and the Meaning of Human Sexuality: Guidelines for Education Within the Family" explain the covenant, non-presumed reciprocity between marriage and its helpers in the associating together of those joined in these reciprocities.
This reciprocity is between helpers ensuring and family members insuring as by Pope Francis between his consecrated celibate marriage vowed to Christ and his roles as head of both the Vatican Church and State as a helper of families in this reciprocity withstanding the extreme tensions caused by grooming for economic tax and insurance advantage of the families of the groomers as diseased family member "familyists of psychologically and or emotionally vulnerable family members by his associating together with other family members of valid and proper marriages.

By this associating together Pope Francis put into action an educational project in sexuality and true love in by keeping or allowing inseparability and qualitative equality of his identity and role his exercising in uncertainty of his belief an absolute power of simultaneous authorisations from 10 June 2021 of ensuring and insuring in marriage by:
