  • It’s a bold claim to state that this, the Omega Seamaster Professional 300M 007 Edition is the greatest watch Omega has ever made, but I stand by it. Sure, the notion that the century-and-a-quarter old brand peaked in 2019 is hard to believe, but believe it you should. Here’s why.

Although I am more drawn to the German and Japanese watchmaking - on offence to the Swiss intended - I have a soft spot for Omega. My father gifted me his old Seamaster Professional 1465/453 with a quartz movement, which he acquired with one of his first salaries he received during his time in the German armed forces in the 90‘s. As a consequence, it has scratches all over the bracelet, the bezel and there even some very minor marks on the sapphire crystal, because it was used as a tool. He handed it down to me this year and it has been on my wrist ever since.
The simplicity and tool-like aesthetic, combined with the rugged titanium case and shock-resistant, in-house movement reminds me of the watch I’m wearing as I type these lines. It‘s great to see Omega flourish once again and I hope that they can finally beat their nemesis, Rolex.

Omega has quite the history, but, I find their modern stuff every bit as soul-less as most of Rolex, and, people can stick their noses in the air all they like, but, the elephant in the room will still be that they are way over-priced. 3. AD don’t hold demonstration samples for trying & comparing.
      4. No references on Omega websites.
      5. No idea if the clasp lengths vary with each size or only the mesh.
      6. The information I got from Omega HQ after writing an email was that there were 3 sizes: Small (5.5 cm), Regular (6.0 cm) and Large (6.5 cm). The size are for wrist width. I would have thought that a wrist width range would have been more appropriate as I would take the smaller one which fits to avoid the overlap bulk…

Was contemplating between this and a Rolex sub but decided to go for this..I like bonds movies but I am not a die hard fan. I was hesitant because of the bracelet. Having a small wrist, the clasp sort of dictates how the bracelet attaches (or doesn't) to the wrist. It could be a deal breaker for people with smaller wrists for sure. Yes, by no means perfect but it is extremely light on the wrist which was one of my priorities. I have a couple of IWC pieces including the BP and was looking for something more wearable on a daily base without wrist fatigue. Have tried ceramic version watches etc. Yes, fake lume and cheaper Titanium 2 and aluminum bezel are used. To create a "fake" patina down the road. For the majority of us not being true military guys we just have to do with the wear and tear of a "normal" life, Omega is lending some help. Despite far from being perfect, this Omega ticked all the boxes and I find it really enjoyable. If you hate the HE than it's not for you, or some of the other reasons mentioned above. I am hoping Omega will learn from this and reflect the dial and material choices into future productions because there is a winning formula. And if you are Bond lover, naturally this is certainly one of the best even if it's just made to create an illusion in our minds to be a special agent of her majesty. Nothing wrong with that. For all it's shortcomings, I love this watch.

This is my first Omega, I like them, but this is not a keeper to me. Bracelet is not for everyone. It's not flexible at all. When you close, it will become stiff, at least 1cm from each side from the clasp. When it's closed, Clast is thicker than watches itself-looking very disproportional, especially for a smaller wrist.
I like that there is no date; it makes these touches more elegant.
At the same time, I'm not a fan of the escape valve. I know that this is some kind of Omega hallmark, but this is what always drives me away from Omega, and I pushed the trigger on that watch pretty much because it doesn't look like the other semesters.

It seems to sell like hot cakes even though Omega increased the price twice since release €8,600, €9,100 to €9,600 now for the bracelet version…

I disagree, it is the rather high price vs other non-precious metal Seamaster models which may limit some buyers hence production.

I think people don’t understand how difficult titanium is to machine. You usually have to use carbide bits to get good results. And carbide is expensive and breaks easily.
Sure it’s a lot more expensive, but no other seamasyer looks like this

If it had no Bond reference I would have bought one in a heartbeat. I opted for the Dark Side of the Moon - Apollo 8 instead. I have to say the titanium bracelet was extremely comfy, faux patina wasn't too overbearing. I had a Digital Bond watch from the Roger Moore era, when I was a kid. I just can't get away from the fact that I would be wearing a watch branded for a fictional character and thus feel slightly childish in doing so. Nice watch Omega, now release a version without the double O.

We’re all grown up kids, just the price of our toys goes up. Nothing wrong with that i think.

It’s funny as I feel very differently. Unapologetically I feel like a kid who likes his toys. I promised to myself that I shall cherish that kid in me until the sunset of my life… It definitely does not prevent me from very serious high level dealings at work but always with a smile, banter and jokes for a laidback and pleasant atmosphere… People like it… Aside from some watches, being a kid led me to buying two vintage Bugatti, other pre-war racing cars and a bi-plane… I feel no embarrassment about that whatsoever… 😉

To me a Seamaster for the the same price as a Submariner just means the average buyer that wants a bit of bling on the wrist won’t even look twice at the Omega. Sad but true.

Interesting that you are looking for a price drop in a year or two as Omega has increased its price fairly significantly since it was released. It went from €8,650 to €9,100 to €9,600 on the Milanese strap… Omega increased its price because thus far it is a commercial hit.

Much agreed. A lot is lost in pictures and video. The dial has a texture and warmth that can’t be captured. The crystal doming is perfect. It’s simple elegance, and the patina doesn’t look as forced.

I was not too keen on the new Seadweller until I handled one!
I also went from thinking a planet ocean was pretty good looking (for an Omega) to knowing I would buy one after trying it on in an AD.
